That's a difficult one for me, as I'm not sure you'd choose any of them if you had £1m to spend and could Carlisle away from Watford.

Geypes, who had a good game on Sat, will get found out against better forwards in this league

Craddock can look excellent one minute and Sunday morning-ish the next. Never really feel relaxed when he plays.

Edwards - Didn't like at first, but he's growing on me. Good in the air and tackle, not bad going forward and seems to play with 100% commitment. He'd probably get my vote, as I also think he's better in the centre than at right back.

Edwards is better at centreback, He is too slow to play right back. He has played really well last few games and must ofmade himself No1 choice alongside Lescott..

Edwards for me, the best out of a bad 3 though. Seems to do the simple thing well which is the other 2's downfall but does look very suspect when ran at. We still need a commanding centre half in my opinion.

When Edwards has played at CHI would think we average fewer goals against, he seems to have a better understanding with Lescott and generally covers the full-backs mistakes.

Gyepes looks solid but needs more experiencein the english game so that he doesn't get exposed for pace.

Craddock is a ball watching hoofer. Rubbish.

did edwards ever play CB for Villa, or is this a total position change from Hoddle?

When we signed him he said he was naturally a CB but had converted to RB at Villa.

Defensive partnership goals against (all comps):

McNamara, Edwards, Lescott, Naylor = 5 conceded in 6 games

McNamara, Craddock, Lescott, Naylor = 3 conceded in 2 games

McNamara, Gyepes, Lescott, Naylor = 2 conceded in 1 game

Edwards, Gyepes, Lescott, Naylor = 3 conceded in 3 games

1. Edwards

2. Gyepes

3. Craddock

Edwards for me, though I'd much rather see someone a little more mobile alongside Jo. I always get very uneasy whenever someone runs at either of the other three centre-halves.

I'd say there have been too few games for the stats to really mean anything yet though. I reckon Stubbs or a similar leader in that defence would have been superb.

Edwards for me. Good in the air and the tackle, and young enough to still be improving.

Wasn't Bischoff better than the lot of them when he was around?

Bischoff last season was about as good as Edwards has been this season. Added to the fact that he's injured (again) and won't be back for another month means that, despite what I thought at the time, we appear to have made the right move in not signing him.

Possibly, in his 1st loan spell. He looked distinctly uncomfortable in his second spell at RB though.

I think the point is that these are the players we have and it is pointlesss saying we would be better with this or that player because if that is the case Sol Campbell and John Terry would be ok.

Edwards for me but only just ahead of JC.

To start with Edwards was poor IMV but he is improving all the time and seems less inconsistent than JC can be.
