View Full Version : Bickering.
a notice to the those you who like to continually bicker and spoil perfectly good threads, at the moment I (and i imagine the other mods) havent got time to wade through all the utter pointless crap that is being posted, but at the rate things are going i am going to have to go on banning spree to try and clean things up so if you dont want this to happen clean up your acts.
I also dont want to see this thread go the same way either.

Agree with you bod, well said
How about we have discussion threads?
There will always be bickering because certain posters cannont stand people having a different opinion to the one they have so they resort to insults and petty name calling.

Agreed Bod. ;)
It's obvious who the quality and informative posters are, and obvious on those that come on here just to stir things up, always negative about Wolves etc

Thats not the point at all Del Boy. Everyone's entitled to an opinion, its how some - both positive and negative posters - choose to put those opinions across thats the problem.

I am a new poster but have been reading this forum for months. Debates quickly transcend into arguing and throws people off the point of the thread.
Opinions are bandied about as fact. Subjective posts are taken too literally by over-sensitive people whose issues are with each other rather than trying to advance a debate rationally.
I know the mods already have a difficult job but on other forums threads are quickly locked and deleted when they go off-topic and people are banned for far less than what i read on here.

Not far wrong really. And it's a shame to see. This site has the potential to be, and sometimes still actually is, way way WAY better than the average football-blagging site.
But with so many threads quickly ending up limping along as a series of lamentably lame & lacklustre oneupmanship shows, it's losing much of what it could, and should, be.
And the protagonists in this rubbish aren't even any good at it. I mean we all remember the fireworks with Ulven / BAWS / LIQ et al, but at least there was a bit of class & wit in their rantings (well, sometimes anyway!)
I'm certain there's a lot of old posters who've moved on elsewhere in despair, and also probably a number of would-be decent posters who read the board but avoid posting cos of the way most threads end up. A real shame.
Please some people, get a grip on yourselves. And any would-be decent posters reading but not posting, please, join in and help lift this place back up again.

Crocos - i agree, I used to refer my non-Wolves-fan friends to the threads on this site as often the discussion was well rounded and with decent opinions.
Now they always ask me to go through the threads and forward them on so that they can mock at how quickly a debate can transcend into something so petty.
It is a shame. I know a lot of non-Wolves people who read this site to read about the general non-wolves debates i.e. England, top goalscorers, threats in this league, transfer rumours etc but slowly they are now giving up and going elsewhere.

Wanted to lend my support to the sentiment of this thread. It's not only bickering that p****s me off but the displays of on running 'in' jokes/comments that unless you are party to the banter you do have a clue what it is all about. That's because you take things too seriously, it didn't seem more than a leg pull to me, (not knowing any underlying background to the picture), but a mild leg pull often turns into a mild insult, which results in the ante being raised until we have outright war.
One of the more endearing traits of the British always seemed to me is the ability not to take themselves too seriously and to be able to poke fun at themselves, but with some notable exceptions, this apears to be sadly lacking on this site.

Del don't want to see anyone banned and for what it's worth I agree with the sentiment of the thread topic.
Does seem odd though that when people defend themselves from the insults, which are regular, they get the same warning as the instigator.
Anyway back to talking about Wolves, hopefully.
GH, the picture used was a rather poor attempt at trying to belittle me for a joke post I made a while back now. It was done to cause unrest on a thread about bickering, which I find quite sad.

However, this thread is entitled bickering. I dont think a little bickering is a problem, and is inevitable when you have people with strong views and opinions. There is a difference in my humble opinion between a little bickering and full blow arguements, throwing insults, being aggressive, and posting offensive comments. The latter always amazes me, we are all part of the Wolves family. Where is the love?

I think that's a very odd choice of thread to illustrate bickering. It's been one of the few longer threads recently that hasn't turned into a anti vs pro Mick fight or a load of bickering. Basically it's people discussing whether big George should go for £2m or not and whether he was much cop during his 4 odd years with us. There's barely an insult thrown in it.
You could have picked pretty much any other thread that has gone beyond 3 pages recently and show how its descended into bickering. Odd comment.

Why not be the bigger "poster" and ignore it and let the Admin/Mods deal with the abuse. That way the board doesn't descend into a play ground fight where the teacher has to run in and separate the 2 kids.
Poster 1 calls you a thick $$$$

Your biggest problem is that you perceive that someone, because of past differences of opinion, is immediately having a pop at you.
So you decide to get in there first and the rest of the fallout just follows.

I think TIM has made it quite clear that if anyone took up your suggestion they would be history. Essex has been more than open and is not alone in his analysis of what goes on here. Eastern is just the latest to come out with these thoughts but there are more and many are put off from posting because of these double standards. I cannot believe the personal insults that in particular Essex and Stewarton receive and yet Mutchy goes on about bickering. Bickering can often mean something says that I dont agree with because if I do it is a sensible comment.
I myself have had lots of personal insults on this site which I can deal with but when I am not allowed to answer them without risk of an infraction that sends out massive signals when the offenders are still allowed to carry on.
Double standards and spin exist everywhere in life but they are rampant on this site. Essex and Eastern are totally right in recognising that it seems to be a bigger crime to defend yourself against personal attacks than to make them.

She's the right age to be in season. Keep an eye on her. Male dogs can smell a bitch in season like a shark can smell a swimmer with a nosebleed. And if it's a dog like my old stud dog, he'd use ninja mating skills to have your bitch pregnant without you even seeing him put the moves on her. The problem is, sense of humour or no sense of humour, it is $$$$ing tedious having to wade through pages of arguments with no relation to the original topic in the thread.
I inhabit a forum as it's relevant to the industry I'm in here (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/). They have what seem like a stupidly long set of rules to agree to before you post, with about 20 or 30 different things that can lead to an instaban. However, the threads mostly stay on topic, the good natured banter doesn't turn into bickering, and most importantly, the threads have a very high signal to noise (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/) ratio.
Anyhoo, back to my original point: Just because some of us are getting annoyed with the amount of mind-numbing off-topic bickering in most threads doesn't mean that we're too sensitive / lacking a sense of humour!

None taken but it's just so Groundhog Day. It seems every time certain words are mentioned we spring into the same old arguments. Olofinjana is the perfect example.
There has been any mention of him in the past month without the immediate response of:
"He's dog awful - give him away - followed by
No - he's the most gifted player we have"
All this is then punctuated with terms such as "fairy" and "powder puff"
I perfectly understand that the whole point of a forum is to provide a place for countering views and opinions. I fully endorse that - it's just that going over the same ground so often can get so bloody boring.

I feel that some on here need to develop a sense of humour and stop being so precious about themselves.
Agreed. Essex, the Stern John thing was nothing more than playful leg pull and to be fair when you posted that picture up in the Louis Jean thread it was $$$$ing hilarious. Just learn to take things less seriously, if you get offended by a picture on the internet then god knows how you must feel when someone calls you a $$$$ or similar terms to your face.
I'm all for there being more of a "clamp down" when it comes to bickering (especially when it ruins perfectly decent threads) but I also feel that some people just need to learn to take a joke.

In fairness to Essex, given his profession he probably gets a lot of unwarranted abuse anyway (in the real world...not MM).
Though I agree Sam with your general point about taking things with a pinch of salt on here.

That's why I'm surprised he finds a picture of Stern John offensive and insulting when it was intended as a leg pull.
