View Full Version : No Passion

Biggest dissapointment from today was the lack of urgency or passion from the team to really push on create any substained pressure to get the minimum result which we knew was likely to be a 3 goal margin..... Surely at HT they would have known that Watford were 1 down and should have been urged to go for it to achieve the 3 goals to at least cover the possibility of a Watford equaliser.......At times it semd like a typical end of season game let alone one where the hopes and aspirations of the whole club resting on it
Hate to make the comparison but you just know that were it the stripeylot in our position, they would have probably gone out and achieved their aim, i.e given themselves a chance by ensuring they got the three goal margin.
For me says a lot about MM's approach and lack of ability in motivating the team to go out and least give it a go.........
I know you end up where you are based on results over a season, but today we had a chance that with a bit more belief ,aggression, dertimination we could have taken.....
Close again but no cigar

When you can say that when there were some players crying baffles me? Or they at least looked as if they were crying.

Is it because they are weak.
For all Mccarthy's chest thumping we have had no show after no show all season.

It's no good showing passion after the game what about during it.....Their keeper had $$$$ all to do apart from picking the ball out of the net....I can't recall him being seriously troubled once in a game we knew we probably had to score three

Olo scored the first and last goal for this season
The passion was very rare this season in our players. Very rarely winning with more than one goal, have conceeded late goals, thus throwing away a goal number of points.
I still think all the problems came from MM, who very often lacked match planning and very often demotivating our players.

Passion isn't the same as hoofing it. We played good, passing Football today and in the period leading up to the goal we created a terrific momentum going forward. Jarvis put over dangerous cross after dangerous cross after combining well with Elokobi and we also broke through their centre. Kites missed a few decent chances because he is not mentally match fit yet and Eastwood had two which went just the wrong side of the post. The ball always evaded our players when it pinged about in the box. On other day we would have won 3-0 or more but it didn't go for us.

today summed up Wolves and the manegement team this season. a game we must win like last week, and probably by three goals. the players came out without passion and desire, lots of possession but no tempo and no urgency. second half was the same, our esteemd leader changed koegh for eastwood when everyone at the game knew that Kighty was $$$$$ed. A game we needed to win and he swapped a forward for another forward. $$$$$ing joke.
He finally took Kites off after 85 minutes.
the teams that have finished above us this season:
- The Boggies
- Stoke city
- Hull City
- brizzle
- palarse
- Wimbledon.
We have spent £7m and got less points than we did last season, is that progrress? If Moxey and Morgan think this is the way forward, just check the ticket sales.:(
Don't sell Freddy until we know who the manager will be next season.

We bottled it today, Watford slipped up and the Plymouth keeper didn't make a save all game.

No passion? You are $$$$ing clueless! One thing this team doesn't lack is passion. Did you witness some of the performances under Hoddle?
Today we dominated the game. Plymouth came to stop us playing and played 4-5-1. We kept passing the ball, there was no hoof. We won the majority of 50/50's which allowed us to keep attacking. To win today against a side the way Plymouth played was a good achievement. Today didnt cost us, it has come down to the spell during the winter where we had zero creativity.

There were 85 minutes before the goal and apart from a bit of belated pressure when it suddenly seemed to dawn on them what was needed...there didn't seem to be any urgency or tempo.I say again in a game we were always going to have to score three there was a distinct lack of substained pressure....as for possession and passing football...Breen and Craddock probably had the lions share but too often the ball was moved at a laboured pace from side to side and finally hoofed forward

We scored one goal in the 87th minute.....and until that point didn't look like getting anything......On any other day you would say OK....but still can't feel dissapointed at the lack of any real tempo, the lack of movement and the lack of desire or belief from the 1st to the 87th minute....
Perhaps in the final anlysis we weren't good enough and that is the difference between us and some of those above us ala Palace who knew what they had to do and left no room for error

I am no fan of McCarthy but as a comment on today's match, that's complete tosh. Today we didn't hoof, we played football for 90 minutes -- the first time that's happened at home this season. You could not fault the players for the effort they put in or for the tactics they employed against a 9-man defence. They were patient, they concentrated, and it paid off in the end. The fact that they didn't get the 3 goals that turned oput to be needed was down to poor final delivery into the penalty box -- which has been a problem all season. But at least it was more or less non-stop attack and their ball retention was excellent. If only we had played that way throughout the season, we wouldn't have finished 7th. OK, that's probably where McCarthy failed. But I felt proud of the commitment and intelligence in their play today.

Do you not mean Watford or is this a sarcastic dig how they play ?
The one thing that stuck out like a sore thumb today was our total inability to move the ball forard in the centre of the pitch, absolutely everything was designed at getting the ball to the wings. Only when Eastwood came on and had a direct run and shot did we actually threaten down the middle, and when the goal finally came it was from a ball down the centre by Freddy to Olof. If we'd had somebody on the pitch from kick-off who could have provided that direct threat then maybe things could have been different. An attacking midfielder with a direct style is an absolute must for next season.

It is a sarcastic dig at how they play, but to e homest we are no different. Today we played the ball at pedestrain pace alon gthe back and afte afew passes simply hoofed the ball up front for the Pilgrims defence to eat it up. considering we knew we needed to win today, and probably by a fair few goals, the tempo and urgency said all that you need to know about Big Mick. He couldn't motivate a bakery to bake a loaf nevermind ensure they had all the ingreeients.

Get a grip FFS.
If Breen passing it sideways or backwards counts as passing football then god help us.
Passing it to the clueless Tim Steele(sorry Tim Steele you had more pace and better crossing ability than Jarvis)to cross to who?
The game evaded our players not the ball,it was dismal, end of.

Imo MM did not fire the players up sufficiently. All week he kept saying about winning the game. To be in with a realistic chance we needed to win by 3. We were nowhere near that today and as such missed out on a po place. MM lacks the motivational skills required and has taken this team as far as he can.

Actually agree. Kightly to be fair was nowhere near match fit, and laboured the whole game. Maybe the manager felt his job depended on it.

I don't think anyone is looking for scapegoats in this particular game to be fair.
Today summed up the season,on the field flat, atmosphere flat and unless there is a massive overhaul of the playing staff then next season wil be a disaster.

But why are we not good enough??? The squad we had over the season should have been good enough to at least make the play offs. The league this year has been poor and we have blown it big time.
