Article on WOW says Kightly is more or less back to full fitness and thinks he ought to be in the reckoning for a place in the squad for Saturday's game V Ipswich.

Crucially he says he's not fit enough to start but a place on the bench is very likely. Replacement for Gray after his usual "I've run my nuts off Boss, not take me off" appearance.

Well a bit of good news finally.. let's just hope there isn't another break down but he's come through two reserve fixtures perfectly OK.

this certainly could get us into the play off's brilliant news

I would have had him on the bench last night.

He played in an arranged fixture earlier in the day to boost his fitness, Paul.

Yes I know mate. But I wouldn't have played him earlier. I would have used him for twenty minutes. If he was fit enough for 70 minutes, then surely he could have given us 15/20 minutes.

Would have been a tremendous lift to the players and fans.

Although I believe leaving Kightly out was the correct decision, maybe Mick should have gambled with him.

I don't think Mick has any other option but to gamble with Kightly against Ipswich

I wouldn't have played Kightly last night, Robinson would have clattered him.

Yes you're correct. We still would have lost I suppose. If he can come back and help us get Into the playoffs then a match sharp Kightly could be the difference.

Although I'm beginning to think we've missed the boat. Still, I shall keep hoping.

If Mick had played Kightly you'd get the usual "act of a desperate man" garbage on here.

Which is why I said it's probably better to have him replace Gray after his 60 minute "run his $$$$$$$$ off" shift, maybe for the next 2 Home games. A pick up for both team mates and fans.

Like when he came back against Cambridge you mean? ;)

Ipswich is more of a win or bust game than Albion imo, so perhaps having kightly on the bench is worth the risk more than it was against Albion.

If we don't win on Saturday we are buggered.

Yes but he's had an Operation and 2 Reserve outings this time round. With no bad reactions by all accounts.

I understand that. With our injury record however, I'm more than a bit cynical when I hear players are supposedly fit again.

I know what you mean mate, but MM does seem to taking a Softly Softly approach this time. Time will tell I suppose.

Btw we've got a new Physio now and things do seem to be getting better this time round. Fingers crossed.

We all need a lift and this is the news we want to hear. Hope MM puts him on the bench on Sat and Tues. Think we will win both games and have an easier run in than CP and I and will make the pos. Keep the faith!

Spot on - last chance saloon on Saturday. Kites on the bench and closer to match fitness for a 20 min burst could well be the difference...then again we might just lose and that's that for a pretty disappointing season.

Let's not $$$$ him up before he is ready

I would be surprised if he is rushed back because we managed to work our way over the season out of contention. He is not a miracle worker and it takes quite a few matches to get up to speed. I wish him well but its the current battle hardened guys that have to do it on his behalf.

Shouldn't play him this season. Let's have him fit and ready under the right manager under the correct circumstances.

MM should not, under any circumstance, panic and throw Kightly into the deep end. IIRC, he's only played a bit part in two friendlies after a very lengthy layout- I'm no expert but this would suggest that he's nowehere near match fitness. Of course Kites is going to say that if called upon, he will be able to step up to the occassion- but I remember him saying something similar in January before he got crocked again. Don't play him unless 100% sure he's right. If MM handles this correctly, then we could have the benefit of an almost match fit Kightly for the playoffs.

Agree entirely brummywolf which is why I suggested using him as a Gray Substitute for the last 25/30 minutes of games. Softly softly approach to build up the Match Fitness. Maybe even play him same in Reserve games (although this might be counter productive)

For sure, however, this time he has actually played some reserve football with no adverse effects which shows hopefully his injury worries are behind him.

It's up to the docs to decide, not Kites or MM, but if he is pretty much match fit, I also can't see any point in not having him as an option from the bench? No point hiding him away for the rest of the season is there (except to try and not attract transfer interest)?
