As usual we finshed the season with a reasonable team, but one not capable of securing promotion.

We singularly failed to improve the squad. Despite talk of seven figure bids, we signed a mixed bag of journeymen who rightly cost nothing.

We are now condemned to yet another season of mediocrity, that will guarentee the departure of Lescott and Hoddle before the start of next season.

While I don't mind the inevitable lack of achievment, I am really not looking forward to those home games where we perfrom as badly as we did against Watford and Gillingham last season. They make me suicidal.

I am also concerned for the future, while the financial situation looks superficially rosy, the declining season ticket purchases, retirement of Ince, and the fact that the funds will seemingly not be released for any reason, paint a very depressing picture.

The writing is on the wall, and those who arrogantly proclaim they are happy with the current squad and the summer transfer dealings are living in cloud cuckoo land.

Another post that highlights clearly for those of us who don't wear blinkers and rose tinted specs the many problems that plaque the club.

Then just $$$$$$ing maybe the club will take some bloody notice for a change, remove their thumbs from their butts, open their eyes and see what's happening.

If not then this time next season we face the very realistic possibility/probability that JLo, Miller and a few other decent players will be gone. Add this to the fact Ince will have retired and Anderton will most likely be gone then the future looks even worse than the mess it is now.

But you keep wearing the blinkers and believing the utter BS the club dishes out.

The happy clappers still post on the thread. They dont disagree with content, they just attack the poster.</>

i'm not saying i agree or disagree with the thread, just that it's becoming (yet again) tedious to have to read the same comments on most of the threads. some people seem almost overjoyed that things arent going well (SOA you are guilty!)

and to suggest that by monopolising the subjects open for discussion will force the club into some sort of action is, quite frankly, ludicrous!

Why the $$$$$ should we change the record? Its about time people like you realised that this squad is not good enough to even make the play-offs.

Those of us on here who are actually realistic about the club and the poor management by Hoddle at least won't be in shock come Christmas when we're lying in 10th position, 15 points behind the leaders.

i dont think you'll find any posts from me claiming that we'll be champions, play-off finalists or anything else for that matter, so "people like me" is a stupid expression.

i won't be in shock at christmas either, it wont be the first time we've entered the festive season outside the top 6 will it, so i dont understand why "people like you" would be either?

the squad is good enough, the system we are playing isnt.

The squad is not good enough. We need major reinforcements.

i disagree. i think we need to stop giving people like clarke, olo and seol a run out whilst they are playing the way they are. ganea and davis showed in 15 minutes that they deserve the place on the field for giving more effort than those they replaced have in the last 2 games

funny really when you think they're doing it underneath 25 middle-aged chubby policemen on the look out for football-related misdemeanours.

I hardly ever post and I am quite happy to admitpathologically optimistic referred to here as happy clapping. Is that a bad thing? Because it strikes me that threads like this are more typical of the malaise at Molineux than anything else.

Instead of getting behind the club, the team and each other we sit and wait for somthing to go wrong. The atmosphere at the last 2 games has been woeful, even against QPR it rated only marginally better because we won 3-1.

There is a lack of trust in the board and management of the club from the fan base. Conspiracy theorists have a paranoid field day and there are those whose opinions change with the wind (or at least the last result or to appear wise... you know who you are).

OK, it's not great, we would all have loved to have spent the £4m it appears is at the disposal of the manager, but just for the sake of it? with no propect of improving the squad? No thanks.

It's easy with hindsight to see the bargain buys who turn into stars, not so easy I suspect to do it looking forward.

For myself, I will kick the cat and look on the bright side. The squad is a good squad, plenty good enough to get automatic promotion. We have suffered a couple of critical injuries and players who should be stepping up to the plate have not produced the goods.

In the coming weeks everything will change, we will be in the top 4 and everyone will be quiet waiting for the next failure bandwagon to jump on the back of and say 'I told you so'.
