Isn't it about time something was done about the Steve Bull Stand seating arrangements? Ever since it was built, leg-room has been severely restricted for anyone over 5 foot tall, but yesterday really brought it home to me while sitting throught the 90 minutes of almost terminal tedium occasioned by Leicester's visit.

I'm 15 stone(all muscle of course!), but the bloke on my left was about half as big again(there are no small Wolves' supporters...)& at kick-off, if the bloke on my right hadn't decided to look elsewhere for a seat the whole row would have been in danger of asphyxiation or deep vein thrombosis.

Are there no regulations regarding spacing of seats, leg-room etc in places of public entertainment(I use the word lightly after yesterday)? If there are, I'm sure the club aren't complying by providing kiddy-size seating for adults. To pay £27 for the prospect of various forms of internal & external injury just isn't good enough. Luckily you can usually rely on the good nature & sense of humour of your fellow supporters to sort out a solution, but should there ever be a packed ground & an exciting match the facilities are hardly conducive to avoiding injury.(Yeah, I know we probably suffered worse on the North Bank in the 60s, but I was younger then & expectations, both personal & for health & safety generally, change.)

I think the recommended width for a seat is now 50cm, although that
only applies to the newly built stands. Anyway, theres far worse than
the Steve Bull Stand, I remember my phone vibrating in my pocket away at
Preston a few years ago, and not being able to get it out until half
time because we were that wedged in smileys/smiley19.gif

Zigzag Wanderer, do you think the club gives a stuff?

They aren't interested in much other than saving money so they are hardly going to spend it on a stand that is going to be nigh on empty come next season.smileys/smiley7.gif

True. Well, at least I can look forward to a little more room next year! Although you'd think spacing out the existing seating would be a preferable option to reducing the number of supporters by turning in performances like yesterday.Edited by: Zigzag Wanderer

The leg room is shocking, i'm only 5ft 10 but my knees are in the back of the person in front, god knows what its like for someone thats 6ft and above. I'm recovering from a broken leg and fractured knee cap and i was in agony yesterday not being able to move it, just a few inches would have done. By the time the end of the match came i could barely move it and nearly fell down the steps on the way out. The numbing football on offer yesterday nearly but me in a coma though, so it eased the pain.

Sparky, won't they let you sit in the aisle

I'd rather be in agony than sit in the aisle, i'd look a right tit.smileys/smiley36.gif I was supposed to be sitting on the end of the row but the old bird that usually sits there had given her ticket to someone else, and it wasnt feeling too bad so thought i'd sit in my usual seat. I should have just stood up every 10 minutes and exercised it but they dont like movement or shouting in the Steve Bull.

Never had any problems with leg room at Wolves.

I struggled last week at Luton though. Has to be one of the most uncomfortable stands to sit in.

The concourse in the Steve Bull is a disgrace. When you consider the
amount of free space outside the stadium it deifes belief that they set
aside so little room to get in and out.

Never had a problem with leg room, I've certainly experienced worse.

Have you not been in the South Bank, the Steve Bull is luxury compared to there! smileys/smiley17.gif

I have no problems in The Southbank......very very comfy it's like seating on a bouncy castle....

The seats are good in the South Bank, but the concourses are terrible
(especially the upper one), they seem to be getting more and more
packed with each game, which when you see a big window at the top of
the stairs on the same ground level as the car park is ridiculous, as
they could easily knock a wall through and create some standing room
out there.

Agreed.

The concourses in the South Bank were designed too small IMO. If you go
to any of the newer stadia like Derby, Southampton, Wigan etc, etc, the
concourses are much bigger and therefore much safer. I wonder ours
would pass health and safety regulations if the plans were submitted
today?

I'm really going to have to stop agreeing with you or people are going to start calling you my illegitimate sockpuppet.

TBF the Steve Bull stand does show it's age, I thought it was the dogs nuts when I first went in it just after construction. For the most part the other stands vary from good to functional but yes the Steve Bull could do with some updating.

I'm more concerned about people who sit next to you puffing smoke in your face for half the match.
