I havent seen 1 yet so i thought i'd start a prediction thread. So whats your predictions.
I think it will be a boring 0-0 but with abit of luck we might sneak it 1-0 i think it will be a very tight game.
And just out of curiosity how many of you have or will buy the new england top as we havent qualified for Euro 2008 i cant see them selling many especially at £40 a shirt i thought they may have reduced the price abit to try and sell more. However ive been and fetched mine today for tonights game.
COME ON ENGLAND!

Not buying the shirt unless they throw in a free boat

A boring 1 - 1 draw , but at least we won`t have Beckham`s 100th cap rammed down our throats for weeks on end

A healthy draw I hope.
Bought the new top had KIGHTLY 7 put on it, wore it last night for the Under 21 game. Cos they have a realistic chance of winning their Tournament.

When did we sign him?
I've got both White and Red (Euro one) England tops, Red one has LESCOTT on (closest we had at the time and the one I'll wear tonight) White one like I said has KIGHTLY.

I have an insider at the club a deal is already agreed going to be the biggest signing in the window. So morgan can show he means buisness. Wolves are keeping it quiet though as Barcalona were also after his signature but he chose the bigger club.

You're talking about a different Gerrard aren't you? I think there's one playing in League 1 can't remember who for.
Just get Bentley and Johnson on. The right side is pathetic.

Beckham. hate to say it, best of the bunch in the first half.
How was James supposed to get out of the way of Anelka, he went down to catch the ball it bounced went over his head and Anelka ran in to him, apart from a star trek warp there was nowhere for James to go.
And the marking was abysmal!

Are you watching a different game? Beckham, who is suppossed to be the best crosser of a ball, continualy passes the ball back to Brown so he can make the telling cross.

My eyes are wide open, Beckham is not making any runs, just standing waiting for the ball to come to him then passes to Brown making the over lap and final cross> Why ?
Bring on Bentley who can beat a man and make a telling cross.
FFS let's look to the future.
YES, at last Englands right side arrives, Bentley and Johnson on.

What a difference they have made, giving us width?????
What a difference they have made, giving us width?????
And pace and a defensive right side+poor sevice for Bentley.
On another point if Mad Mac was still in charge the 'heads must role' would be out in force......bet the Iti manager does not get that?
Pure and utter tedium. Too slow, no spark or imagination, always passing backwards, poor first touches, lumping aimless balls into the box...jesus the list is endless.
Imagine if you'd spent £50 to watch that dross, not to mention the travel and beer costs. You really have to wonder whether they are the same players who play without fear week in week out for their club sides...hopefully Capello will have the answer once he's seen us for a few games.
James - 6. Gave away penalty, but handled well in general
Brown - 4. Makes Kevin Ashley look accomplished. Nowhere near international class
Cole - 5. Time for a change. Totally one footed and...well, I just think he's a $$$$.
Terry - 5. Responsible for losing Anelka
Ferdinand -6. Best of a bad defensive bunch.
Cole 5. Did he play?
Gerrard 5. Did he play?
Rooney 5. This guy is awesome for Man Utd on Pro Evo 2008 and $$$$e for England. Seems like the game's more realistic than we thought.
Beckham 6.5. Like him or loathe him, he was our best player tonight. After a few nervous first moments, he kept the ball well, changed the play with some phenomenal passing and delivered the only decent balls into the box.
Subs:
Owen 5. Anyonymous
Downing 5. In a nutshell, $$$$e! Will he ever beat a player at international level. Looks like he's scared $$$$less to be playing for England.
Crouch 6.5. Continues to be our main threat. Good touch, brought players into the game. Why we can't pick out someone 6ft 7 is unbeleivable.
Johnson 5.5 - Better than Brown
Lescott 6: Thought he did ok
Bentley 5.5: Petulent and distinctly average, capped by the fact he ducked under a ball and then proceeded to cross it out of play.
Pretty good summary Jack. So much for Ogerp's call for Bentley and Johnson...both useless.

Sums up England as individuals for their respected clubs Rooney, Terry, Gerrard etc are amazing, usually because they are either against lower opp or each other
Rooney and Gerrard up front doesnt work. Both players operate the same position.
Either play Rooney or Gerrard dropping off a striker-not both.

With all due respect I don't think that argument stacks up as our English players are continually playing well in the Champions League against the world's best players.
I don't have the answer, but something seems to happen to them when they put on the England shirt. Seem to recall people in the eighties/early 90s saying it was Barnsitis

They play alongside Foreign Internationals for their club sides?

Johnson better than Brown, Bentley with the correct service is an outstanding right side player, who can ACTUALLY beat a defender with the ball at his feet.
Now the 100 showtime is over perhaps we can move forward into the new millenium and let the old right side continue playing in some North American backwater league.

Obviously, but the English players are often the outstanding ones so it's not as simple as that.

I agree that Bentley on form deserves a regular run in the side, but I still believe Beckham offers something different and could be a big impact player for us going forward.
A winger either needs to beat a man or produce an excellent delivery. Downing sadly does neither!

Thought the 1st half was very good.
Played how we should, kept the ball, Technically very good, showed technically we are as good as the continentals.
We were in control up until the scored.
Neither team creeated a chance.
Only difference between the 2 teams was one mistake.
Hargreaves got to tight allowed the french guy time to turn, play a 1st time ball in behind.
James starting position was poor too deep.
2nd half reverted to the worst English style of football.
Positives.
Not many
James did ok. - Certainly a penalty. Could have had a better starting position, Should have slid and made himself big.
Brown, awful gave the ball away and poor crossing.
Ferdinand not troubled
Terry, not troubled got caught by the through ball for the pen he was not expecting the ball
Cole - Awful in 18 months he has gone from the best left back in the world to not even the best English left back. Gave the ball away and terrible crossing.
Barry - Played well, covered very well, kept the ball 1st half. 2nd half victaim of long ball English crap.
Hargreaves - played very well, tackled kept the ball. 1 mistake for the penalty
Cole - was doubled up on as soon as he got the ball. Did not get much chance
Beckham, see Cole.
Gerrard, not close enogh to Rooney, not in th ebox often enough
Rooney : struggled to find space with Franve defensive shape.
Subs
Downing - Poor, needs to do what he does for Boro beat a man and cross. His crossing was poor
Owen - I am one of his biggest admirers, thsi was his worst performance in an england shirt
Crouch - Nice touches, struggled to find space
Lescott - One of the positives, he may have still let in Anelka, but I think he may have been closer. Defensively very good. Distribution sometimes poor,
Bently See Beckham and Cole.
Johnson, has to be better than Brown.
Overall an Interesting game.
Hopefully we will see a lot more of the first half and a lot less of the second half.

Beckham is on the right? (and is now a backwoods league player) When did I mention Downing on the left?
Thought the 1st half was very good.
I was deffinately watching a different game to many on here. The first half performance was dire and resulted in wholesale subs for the second half.
If that ITI manager was not the new Messiah and was instead old brolly Mac, the English back pages would be calling for his head tomorrow.

I was talking about the right side in the first point.
The scond point was about wingplay in general and Downing in an England shirt drives me mad.

We kept the ball.....
We were in total control....
Don't tell me you are one of the nuggets that keep shouting get it $$$$ing forward.
For years we have been saying England are not technically as good as the continentals.
For years we have heard we don't keep the ball.
Well in the first half we dis-proved both theories.
Did you lsiten to Capello after the game.
The changes were made because he needs to see players in different positions, he needs to see different styles.
He is getting ready for Qualification

I can't agree glasgow wolf. The passing was poor (yes it made the man just, but often put them in trouble), went nowhere and nine times out of ten ended with a punt upfield or the ball bouncing off Rooney and out of play.
France, Anelka and Ribery apart, were completley dis-interested in the first half yet still managed to score and create two or three chances. I think there's a difference between passing the ball across the park and actually mounting any worthwhile attacks.
If you're happy with that you must have been delirious under Sven.

You listened on five live and never watched it did you?
Mate the 1st half was dire.
I like teams that keep the ball and then use it in a positive way (erm like France did, did you watch them?), we kept it and then players like Cole lost it.
Of course the ITI said that, he remembers Mac singing in the rain when England put up a better perfomance than tonight.

Yes I watched it.
1st Half France and England cancelled each other out.
They never got close to England.
Too suggest France moved the ball better is ridiculous.
Yes Cole gave it away as did Brown. Far too often, however in the first half if you watched it neither team carved out any chances, other than the Pen. That was due to a mistake by Hargreaves
In the second half when the game opened up and we were outnumbered in midfield France moved it far better than England but by then there was more space available because England had gone 4 - 4 - 2
When Brown and Cole gave it away invariably in the first half We won it straight back.
The formation he started with is the one I want to see more of.
The more we play that style the better we will get at it.

There were some real good close passing in tight areas, that just failed to get the final ball right.
France had a couple of long range shots, and the penalty.
England had pressure around the box without creating a clear cut chance.
I still say the first half is the way football should be played, We are still playing catch up.
I guess the boo's aimed at England against Switzerland for keeping the ball, is symptomatic of the trouble England will have changing there style.
I guess you all want 100 MPH, hoof it back to front as soon as possible.
I counted a move of around 10 or 12 passes that went all round the pitch, before we opened France up, unfortunately the final ball was poor, as it was throughout the night.
The first half was hell of a lot better than the second.
We had a few opportunities but the final ball was shocking

Could you explain that again?
I watched every minute of the game.
In the first half we had little width.
We had 2 midfielders sitting deep, Then Cole, Beckham, and Gerrard were central.
Which is preety much the same as France.
Ths meant we won the ball, and kept it
2nd half we switched 4 - 4 - 2.
With to wide players.
We were outnumbered in midfield it left more space, the game opened up, however France exploited the space better than we did.
Owen, Cole, and Brown kept losing the ball, When the ball went into CVrouch he always had 3 players round him 1 centre half and 2 defensive midfielders.

Did anyone else think that our left side was just total $$$$e throughout the whole 90 minutes?
Cashley Cole can't be bothered, Joe Cole was off-form and Downing would be an insult to a pub side. After Beckham went off, the delivery into the box (from either flank) was absolutely abysmal, even though we had a beanpole to aim at.
A poor performance and a poor game, but I don't think we deserved to lose. France weren't exactly awe-inspiring. 0-0 would have been fair.
