Rosa = the past...

He wont play in first team again.

Hint of sarcasm in my title as when he was free scoring in the reserves everyone was crowing for him to be played in the first team.

we have a player called Rooney in our squad?

Still think he'd offer us something from the bench.

And yet the recent 4-5-1 formation that we've been playing away from home is where Rosa was excelling before his injury yet Mick said he couldn't accomodate Rosa in our First Team.

Isn't that similar to what Olofinjana does? Not a dig at anyone just that Rosa seemed to be the "man in the hole" breaking from Midfield.

Surely Keogh would be the best player for the role, behind Eastwood or E-B?

Or in an ideal worl behind both in a 4-3-1-2 formation, with Olo holding behind Kights and Jarvis!

Never happen, but that's the quality of personnel we have, it's just up to the manager to find the best blend.

Wolv3nsam
25-03-2008, 11:54
Isn't Olofinjana more of an attacking midfielder than a defensive one?

If he's a defensive one by nature he's bloody $$$$.

That's what I posted last night but without Kightly (due to injury) with Olofinjana plus 1 other Holding Midfield.

Like you said possibly too adventurous for us at present.

If you play 4-3-1-2 you play with no wingers and three central midfield players tight and let one player roam and create which from our lot would be Eastwood. Keogh is a striker and not an attacking midfielder.

Not necessarily a bad thing to play with no wingers though is it? Especially with ours being injured at one point or other.

Tottenham have played 4-3-1-2 a few times this season with Keane in behind Berbatov and Defoe/Bent. Aaron Lennon flitting from wing to wing I believe.

If Lennon is playing they have played four in midfield and Keane went to the right or left wing with Lennon on the other.
Otherwise they take a defender off and go 3-4-1-2 where you can play wide midfielders and somebody 'in the hole'.

We maybe could've tried 4-3-1-2 earlier in the season but now Jarvis is back and Gray is having a new lease of life there is no need.

Dewsburywolf

Isn't that what we could revert to when Gray goes off after his customary "I've run my balls off boss replace me" time comes with Freddy replacing him though? Jarvis like I said flitting from wing to wing instead of Keogh having to move out wide. Options maybe? Plan B?

It's a bit unbalanced though with one wing always unoccupied. Can leave you vulnerable and exposed. Stick to 4-4-2 as long as Jarvis is fit.
Also playing with somebody in the hole also reduces the amount of space for George to work in and he has less room to make forward runs.

His agent is clearly Darren Lamb, so will neither engineer a promotion to 1st XII nor a loan move/transfer.

Yeah strange. When Rosa was scoring v Oldhams U13's Girl team, we were in 3rd place. When we played 4-5-1 Rosa was injured. I just can't put my finger on why he wasn't considered.......I really can't

Good. Maybe now someone will come in for him. Amazing how he has been on the transfer list and not one club has took him for at least one month (exluding the ones he has been injured in of course)

"Good. Maybe now someone will come in for him."

It's most likely clubs are waiting for him to come to the end of his contract so he can be picked up on a free transfer.

Can you not appreciate that given the paucity of creativity/goals from midfield this season Rosa at least deserved to be given a chance?
It must be very galling for him to see MM continually selecting players who are failing in a very important aspect of their role on the field ie scoring goals.Henry,Potter,Olofinjana,Jarvis,Gibson and Edwards have just 7 league goals between them while S Ward(OK,may be said to have been played out of position)has not scored in 27 league games this season.
What puzzles me is WHY MM won't give Rosa a run of games just to see if he can make a difference.
By the way, last night we were winning up until Rosa was taken off.....(perhaps he was subbed so as not to over-tire him for Saturday....?)

If, as is likely, we are still in this division next year I think Mick should potentially look into 3-4-1-2 as an alternative alongside 4-4-2 and 4-5-1. Pasquale Marino has used it to great effect (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/columnists/gabriele_marcotti/article3300683.ece) and particularly at home when the opposition has only one up front then I don't see why not. I guess you could just tuck Elokobi inside.

Yes again playing Keogh in the hole is not his natural game as it negates his movement and pace. It was Eastwood who played off Keogh with some success at the start of the season.

Looking at some of the names on the bench are one or two of these starlets of the future that Chris Evans set up a security cordon around starting to come through?
