Midfield: Keogh, Henry, Potter, Bothroyd
$$$$test midfield possible.
So depressing. No creativity in midfield means the strikers have to work harder to carve out chances- can anyone see Kyle pull something out of nowhere? A decent winger on loan in January would've sorted things- very poor decision from MM.
I feel sorry for the Wolves supporters in the Cardiff end!
I think it is safe to say they would not have returned after the half time break !

is it me or does Froggatt (on 5Live Extra) have something against Wolves?
Froggy may well be telling it the way it is but I have to admit he has never shown any sign of affection for us in any of the commentary stints he has undertaken involving us.
Maybe he is overcompensating to try to show he's not biased or maybe he just feels nothing for us. That would be a shame cos I thought he did OK for us until his injury.

Judging by the player's performances today he's lost the dressing room, he took them in for HT and the performance was just as bad afterwards. He's lost the plot and it's come to a point where he's lost the fans too, he needs to go sooner rather than later. I know Morgan didn't want to go down the road of "hiring and firing" but if he wants to get this club into the Premier League he needs to get the right man in.

Hard to disagree with you but I still maintain that promotion this season isn't the be and end all. If the team was progressing then people would be happier but we do appear to be going backwards. In the past we've got rid of manager after manager, do we keep on repeating the cycle and more importantly, why does history keep on repeating itself at WWFC?

Agreed! Am not in favour of firing managers for the sake of it but, equally, sometimes you have to bite the bullet and recognise when things have gone far enough. Thanks for last season, but MM has to go. I will be joining in the chants on tuesday vs scunny unless MM goes before then.

Stewarton,
I know you despise him..quite illogically in my opinion, but he was successful at Sunderland and you don't become an international manager if you don't know a thing or two about the game. You might not like reading that but those two things tell me he's not bloody stupid.
I still can't work out some of his recent decisions though. I think it would be wrong to single Kyle out but his signing smacks of desperation for me. Before that I thought we were a team that were capable of breaking teams down by passing it, now we seem to have reverted to hitting a target man. IMO, we need a mix in our style of play.
The other thing I haven't been able to work out is why manager after manager thinks our defence is good enough. The Lescott/Butler combination was barely good enough before we went up under Jones and since then we've been very poor in that department.

With you and i was all for development and a season or two in the championship but i put as equal blame on Morgan than McCarthy. Nothing has been learnt from previous mistakes. I dreaded the appointment of a new owner after the progress made in the latter period of the Hayward era and it has manifested far worse than i expected. Morgan has not got the slightest clue as to what makes Wolverhampton Wanderers tick.
the players confidence must be shot, will molineux lift them on tuesday or will it be another lynch mob mentality?

It's hard to disagree with this as well. A lack of real leadership has been a problem at WWFC for two decades and it seems the status quo is unaffected by the change of owner. I still believe our recruiting policy re: young players is the right one but when you don't play them in their right positions or have poor tactics, young players find it hard to deal with failure.
Don't forget Cardiff were going through a similar spell earlier this season and Jones turned it around. Quite remarkable given his track record. I believe we should give MM until the end of next season as a minimum. (Crash helmet on ;))

FW - Written by someone who has not had to watch Wolves play this season. I want continuity but not continuity of this. We're as bad a side as I can remember for some years.

ahh poor ickle players
ffs grow some mate - they are highly paid pampered people who play football for a living - they don't give a flying toss what you think of them - their only concern is they are playing so $$$$ they could be dropped - and thats the best place for virtually all of them ! If we go down we could well struggle in League 1 with that side.

Nobody is going to resurrect this season but i'm happy for the light to slowly flicker until the inevitable extinction under McCarthy. This season has been disastrous, given the finance and the progress last season. Bad signings and the players who should have been moved on and never were - Olofinjana, Craddock and Breen. Judgement should be made over forty six games and i hope it is. Absolutely no faith whatsoever in McCarthy OR Morgan.

You're wrong with your opening statement JR. Let's not turn this into yet another "you don't go" debate.

But Gratters... don't you think MM's tactics have something to do with the performances?

Sorry I've read this and I can't understand what you are alluding to - could you explain to me the progress you speak of in the latter part of the Hayward era.
McCarthy was not Morgan's appointment - he was the result of that enlightened duo 'Jez and Jack' - so I don't see how you can apportion equal blame to him and Hayward.

Florida - I'm not knocking you for not going, you are in a different continent for a start. No it's not that, it's just that from a distance it can seem like a rocky spell, but this season has been out of kilter from day one. If you were here I'm sure you would have a more trenchant view. It's really poor.

Yes of course - but tactics don't have anything to do with so called professional players consistently missing from very easy positions or making schoolboy errors. We play like a side who just get together every match day - you cannot see any training in that side at all.
Else we wouldn't be continually split open week after week and Keogh wouldn't keep missing from 19 inches out ! Our last 3 seasons have been a nightmare for the poor sod in the Wolves goal !

Well it takes a lot to applaud a team off that lost six nil at home.

I take your point and in terms of support that is commendable but a six-nil home defeat hardly represents progress.
Going forward - I would like to think that Morgan has been doing some serious research into why (whoever the manager has been) we can't seem to progress. For me McCarthy has to go (and as soon as possible) - for what it's worth I was disappointed when he got the job, but was pleasantly surprised last season although ultimately we still failed - and I don't want to see any tin-pot knee-jerk replacements. I would like to see a complete overhaul and change in the management and coaching staff (you can include Moxey in that too), there's too big a legacy of failure hanging around the club. Give the new man a clear brief, a timescale and a budget.

Oh believe me it did, but that was in front of the hardcore in a time of vision and belief. Morgan has since smacked us in the face with a rather large fish.

Indulge me here JR... I've been at Mol. through bad spells with previous managers many times so I know exactly how everyone must be feeling. Believe it or not, us exciles feel it as well...even though we only have the radio or occassionally the TV.
I also understand that those who pay to go to games believe they have more right than anyone to say what they feel but to me it doesn't change the basic problems with the team, with the club and with the support, etc.
In previous years when we've had bad periods, we have always sacked our manager after mounting supporter pressure. The viewpoints then were just the same as we are seeing today and there's nothing different about MM's reign in that regard IMO. The difference I do see this time is the fact that the team is a lot younger than previous squads.
IMO, it's going to take longer to get this team performing at the level we all want them to because of that simple fact. I'm not making excuses or defending MM because I do believe that this team is capable of much more than it is currently achieving but I think we just have to be very careful of repeating previous mistakes.

You're dead right about a young team, Florida.
I had the good fortune to have Moxey to myself for half an hour a few months into Hoddle's reign, and one of the things he said, which I agree with, is that youngsters have a particular problem at Wolves because the demanding and thoughtless Molineux crowd is only too happy to barrack them when the first pass goes astray. He said that this was the factor for having given Jones the cheque book to go out and buy a number of battle-hardened players like Rae, Blake, Butler and the rest, for Sir Jack's last tilt at the premiership.
This is why I've never bought into the "young and hungry" policy. Moxey knows it won't work at Wolves, but everyone is too scared to go down the open cheque book route because it failed serially under the Haywards.
We're marooned, gentlemen.

Well there is no bigger reason for Moxey getting his P45. If true that is a totally pathetic endorsement of our great club. A shocking statement.

Why do you say that Papper? I'd say JM was right in his assessment of the Wolves crowd in general. This season has again seen plenty of evidence of that re: Elliott.
As for going down the cheque book route and being afraid, I don't buy into that. They've already spent more money than most clubs yet again. Further, people in high executive positions like this should not allow fear to prevent them from doing what they believe is right.
I know the crowd plays some part in the decision making process but the true leader will always stay with his vision, rightly or wrongly. The problem today is the vision. Once upon a time it used to be normal to think we could win the league or a cup or two. Today football has been dumbed down for most supporters of 95% of the clubs in the land whilst the high and mighty have been allowed to prosper against the good of the game in general.
JM has done a good job of stabilising the club financially IMO. He's not the leader though.
