I know that MMs tactical ability has been berated of late, but I believe that it's because his subtlety escapes us !
Let's look at the evidence again...
He foresees a long term injury to Kightly (and obviously the danger to Jarvis), so he brings in Kyle. Big target man = hoof balls, therefore no need for wingers. Problem solved.
Eastwood then reveals that he often does nothing for 70-80 minutes then pops up with a late goal, so MM avoids the non-productive time and just puts him on in the last few minutes for him to get his goal. Eastwood has clearly let him down.
These are just two of the great mans tactical triumphs that have become obvious in hindsight. I'm sure if you look hard enough, you'll see others...
