Guys - have you given any thought into how you see the site developing once the mods are sorted out?
I can see there being similar problems to the ones that plagued the
E&S, namely OT posts for one. Might i be so bold as to suggest an
OT forum sooner rather than later (especially once the season
starts....)
As for the bandwidth requirements - what about putting up some Google
ads and getting users to click one or two on each visit. That would
easily offset the costs of diversifying the forums - you could even pay
for a revival of HH, so we can all laugh at them signing an
over-the-hill defender on a 4 year deal....

That was part of Phase 2.....then onto full on streaming tugcasts as part of Phase 3.
I dont mind OT topics, i think they are good for keeping things alive while the news from molineux is slow.
However, I will be stressing that the OT topics should be clearly marked OT. Also anyone spamming the site trying to sell this that and the other will be warned to cease and then banned if they persist.
Lastly in certain circumstances if we get a situation like on the final few days of the original MM where i think grinder kept posting really quite pointless multiple posts that had nothing to do with anything well they may just get deleted without notice, but that is to be decided.
I can feel a poll coming on ;)
In all honesty though I think add ing seperate sections to the forum is
a very good idea. If people bookmark molineuxmix.co.uk they have to
select the section they want to go into anyway.
Add a wolves section and a general section for all other posts, throw in a dwarf porn one and we're all laughing smileys/smiley2.gif

Nowt wrong with OT's as long as people accept them for what they are and don't keep whinging about them being on a football forum.
People don't have to read them do they?
separate forums won't work, people are lazy and will end up on one or the other posting what they like.
Clearly marked with OT on each topic is fine then if you dont want to read it, don't.
end of arguement.

No, but people shouldnt have to scroll down several pages of $$$$$e in order to find a wolves related topic.

Its how most online forums do work, people will get used to it quickly enough but if its the end of argument fair enough.

To be honest the way it is going if no one uses the advertising that exists now (as they are not) the board will not develop, just close. We are NOT here to make money but we do need to make enough to cover costs. I will lookk at some google ads but i find them to be intrusive, as a single banner at the top surely isnt?
What kind of bandwidth are you doing on this site at the mo?
invisible,
maybe if you had told us to click the adverts now and then, we might
have been doing it. I certainly will if it makes the site a bit of
money!
BTW have you sorted my avatar?

Fair enough but its not just a matter of clicking them unfortunately! If people genuinly want to get some revenue for the site click on the cyberslotz banner deposit a fiver then send me a private message on here before gambling it and you will make a profit albeit a small one!
Your better off with google then as by clicking on them revenue will be generated.
P.S. what Bandwidth does the site use per day at the moment?

Most of the ads are blocked if I click on them at work.

Apart from Peckhamwolf's tee-shirt project you could always try telling people what/how muchthose costs are and ask for contributions based on the number of members. It would be interesting to see who is prepared to contribute in order to maintain the forum.
I think paypal do a donate type of service (seen it on other sites anyway), this may be the way forward??

At the end of the day though, when the season kicks off or there is Wolves news to talk about the OT topics become the minority. It doesn't bother me, it keeps me away from work based boredom! smileys/smiley15.gif

Try a pm to Florida Wolf and see if he could suggest in an e-mail to Jez that the Wolves give you a grant to keep the site from folding. The club have said that they used the MM to gauge fans opinions on items in the news so it would be a sensible use of cash from a marketing point of view. It also means the club aren't responsible for the views on here as it's not thier site just one they sponsor as it were. Try asking, they can only say no.

i reckon we could do it, not enough HH users to really worry about killing the bandwidth smileys/smiley36.gif

In that case £10k a week should cover it! Seriously thoughI think that's a bad idea especially with all the controversy and moaning aboutpressure from wolves on the E&S

I disagree...its not difficult to say post wolves stuff on one forum and non wolves stuff on another.
If people cant handle that then they're too thick to be considered, TBH.

The problem with "Opinion" was it was populated by social outcasts like Doctor What, and therefore was unappealing to post. If it was just the users on this board who were involved, I think a Wolves/OT divide would be useful.
I'd go with the Google ads, they are not as obtrusive as you might think. Just one or two clicks a day from each forum member wouldn't be too much of a sacrifice to keep this place going.
