If, as we expect, Seyi is on the plane back tonight - would you put him back into the side or is he now 4th in the CM pecking order behind Edwards, Henry & Potter?

Personally he wouldn't get back into my side but we do know from last year that he can be a good player on his day, maybe the reality check will improve his form...

Or even more sinister....has him going off to Africa been part of the reason our form has picked up??

How do other people rate him?

I treally rated George last year but he needs to get stuck in this year.

I would put Edwards, Henry before him and maybe even Potter

He'd be 3rd choice for me behind Edwards and Henry.

Templeton Peck

He can't defend as well as Henry and he's stopped scoring so he'd be way down the list for me. I was hoping Nigeria would get to the final.

Maybe Morgan can put him on his private jet and send him to the South Pole.

He's not bringing anything to the team this season, frankly he needs a kick up the rear end and a spell in the stiffs may be just what he needs.

I think Mick calling him the "best midfielder in the Championship" has got to his head and ego.

Just had a look and he isn't starting tonight for Nigeria. On the other side, Nigeria should easily beat Benin tonight and Ivory coast will probably beat Mali which should be enough to put them through so he may be away for a bit longer.

Oh hang on Berti Vogts manages Nigeria, scrap that last comment!

Without being too harsh on a very nice guy, I think there is a correlation between us stringing two good performances together and George's absence.

His tackling style ( or lack of it) is more often than not a problem. I rate his vision to pick out a killer ball, however there is more to Championship football than this.

Sometimes the bloke looks out of this world, but other times I have found myself wondering whether he is even a footballer or whether we have been had! (See Bothroyd).

Such an unpredictable guy.

He's a good player when he's on form but that's only ever once in twenty games. Edwards is better at getting forward and Henry is more willing to tackle and is an all round better defensive midfielder, even if he can't pass for $$$$.

no change of seyi playing in Cup of nations today. according to BBC, he is suspended.

It's surprising that we were losing games and Gibson was due to get his chance in the middle....Seyi goes off, Gibson gets injured...and we win 2 games with neither of them.
OK, we had two new signings for the first game...but Jarvis has been key in both games. Perhaps it is just pace and directness up front?

Big Mack

He is. He got booked in each of the first two games. Think Nigeria need to win by two and hope Ivory Coast beat Mali. So far IC are one up and Nigeria are still 0-0 after half an hour.

Well, they won 2-0 and George stays out there for another few days at least. Play like they have done so far and he could be home after the quarter final.

Toon Wolf

He's a better footballer than Karl Henry, but doesn't do the 'ugly' stuff as well, which is why most fans prefer Henry. I'd still have him ahead of "I can't pass for $$$$" Henry.

PeteWolf

Five games without him and four wins, prior to that and we hadn't won in seven with him playing every game.

Not that I'd put the bad form solely down to him, but no way should he walk back in the team when he comes home.

manc_wolf

hang on - we play him and can't win in 7 matches. he goes to ANC and we start winning?

nigeria play him twice and lose both times - drop him and then win?

hmmm...

Personally i think we could have a very good midfield If Geroge and Edwards can play together..

In order for that to happen though we need at least 1 new centre half though.. George hasnt been as good this season as the team has been defensive since day 1

You've never seen him pick out a killer ball? Well in last seasons play offs he basically played the albion on his own and ran the middle for the bulk of the season as a whole too. Named frequently in a lot of independent sources team of the week, I dont see what makes that comment so funny.

You want to try going to some games mate.

Exactly. What on earth is the big fairy's job this season except dithering around looking lost all day long?

I actually think, although we played well first half tonight, we missed Olofinjana's ability to create space for himself and show some poise and confidence on the ball in the second half. We ended up hoofing the ball forward a lot.

I know he can be infuriating and the game passes him by sometimes, but, on his game (perhaps not often enough) he links up the defence and the attack in a way that we struggled to do second half against Sheff Wed.

We struggled second half because they tried to close out the game for a valuable away point. It was the fact that they sat deeper, more than our play that made the second half worse imo.

Yes, rarely though, but I still feel you were reaching for something positive to say about him but fair enough if are to say something good about him it would be that and maybe he is quite good at arriving in the box.. Still too hot and cold for me.

Now if only Coppell could come in and bid £2m to take our second foreigner to flatter to deceive off our hands. Like Seol I am sure its just hes too good for the championship, thats the problem.

So basically you've just totally agreed with what I said. This makes me even more confused as to why somebody would run out of their office laughing at a comment that they agree with.

Can I work in your office and smoke pot too with you guys?

In fairness on reading away fan sites they all seem to highlight Oli as a star man for us, on a consistent theme.
I don't know how to rate him now this season, as the team as a whole seems to have lost direction.

I'd put Olofinjana back in alongside Edwards. Henry, good player as he is, had a poor game last night. Couldn't find a pass all night and lost midfield battle in 2nd half. Olo def back in when he gets back.

Surely he wouldn't play a defensive midfielder on the right hand side of the midfield....................(for a 4th time)
