He's not old news, that's a really stupid comment. He's a good striker who if given a chance will prove to be a great asset. Elliott is fine as a reserve winger and competition for Kightly. Keogh and Ebanks-Blake probably first choice at the moment but with injuries, suspensions and loss of form it is fortunate that we have two good players to call on in Jay and Freddy when/if needed. It is not Eastwood's fault if some supporters rate him higher than other strikers.

At the moment we've got four "strikers". Blakey, Andy K, Freddy and Bothroyd. Elliot seems a lot happier and more effective on the wing than trying to lead the line. Stevo Ward is a bit in no man's land now, as either a below average winger or ?

I don't think so. He's only 24 and has played most of his football for a small club and has only had one full season in the Championship. It wasn't long ago he was playing in League Two. And even average strikers are changing hands at the moment for four or five million quid.
In the days when we spent this kind of money on players like Nathan Blake, Don Goodman and David Kelly it was fair enough to expect them to hit the ground running. But when we buy relatively young and inexperienced players from Southend I think its disgusting that fans are writing them off less than 6 months into their career with us.

I rate Freddie and I think we need to give Freddie time
But he does not rate an automatic start at the moment, Keogh, SEB must be ahead of him unless injured. He will get his opportunity but he has to accept that he is not first on the team sheet at present.
