Couple of weeks old (http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,16368,3033_2952439,00.html) this news, but have just seen that he has left Helsingborgs.

Worth a shout seeing as Mick has about 5 games left in him at this rate? Interesting that he quit a succesfull club, perhaps he's been tapped up by Morgan ;)

however much i like baxter i'd sooner we go for some continuity. Ignore the hysteria on here from people who haven't the faintest idea what football management entails. I doubt very much that morgan is thinking differently given that he gave the green light for a £3.5m bid for a player mick identified.

That would be continuity in terms of our downward spiral then?

Surely the basis for any continuity would be the premise that what you had in place was a satisfactory solution? If you look at results and performances plus team selection and the man management gaffes that have been made by the current manager there is little evidence of the level of competence required to do the job. Hardly hysteria, more like a realistic analysis of the situation, in terms of where we are going versus where we want to be.

We already have a manager.

People are talking about MM leaving like it is a forgone conclusion. Which it isn't.

Like it or not, he will mananger be until at least the end of the season - all this speculation about his replacement is very premature and wishful thinking from some.

Despite how awful we have been recently, MM deserves to be given a chance after working wonders last year.

We should be looking forward to new signings not speculating on new managers. I don't envisage MM going anywhere soon. We'll be out of our slump soon enough and hopefully welcoming new quality players.

Everybody seems to be blaming McCarthey for the carp run we've been on lately but aren't we forgetting the one " constant " in the past half dozen managers? One Terry Connor ? Didn't the run coincide with his Promotion after Taff Evans' Injury woes?

he was linked with us a few seasons ago, when and if mick gets the boot, he would be my number 1 choice.

If the rumours are correct and Morgan is himself looking at players then he may be quite happy to have Ledley here with or without MM.

man management gaffes? What a load of $$$$$$$$. Micks man management of keogh, elliott, bothroyd, davies, eastwood, collins, craddock, etc has been effective in almost every case. If mick comes out protecting elliott, he's doing so because the guys confidence has taken a bashing because of the treatment he gets for missing a chance by the fans. The result is mick gets slated in every thread possible for protecting a guy who missed an open goal when you lot don't even stop to consider that elliott still might come good this season & fire us up the table like he did for sunderland, and that coming out & knocking his confidence further might be a 'man management gaffe', if you actually know the meaning of it.

Adrian has every right to get bad tempered at the short term knee jerk reactions we get on this board every time we miss a chance or concede a goal. It does my head in too. Thankfully the powers that be almost certainly take no notice.

Merry Christmas everybody!

The next to leave Helsingborgs could be Benin international Razak Omotoyossi, who has scored six times in the UEFA Cup so far and managed 14 strikes in 23 league appearances last season.

"Despite how awful we have been recently, MM deserves to be given a chance after working wonders last year."

Does'nt that make our current situation even more galling/mystifying?With a hastily assembled squad of cast-offs,has-beens plus a couple of purchases MM produced a side which was usually good to watch and got into the play-offs.Yet this season, having now had 18 months(and a few £million to assemble a squad more to his liking),we are playing a much worse style of football, devoid of creativity or cohesion.MM seems to have no idea as to his best side yet ignores a number of players who have not been given a chance to show how they might improve the side.Daniel Jones recalled? "...He won't be an instant chioce....but he gives us another player for the left side".In which position exactly?LB?M/F? If he's worth bringing back from N'ton, put him in the side!He can't do any worse than the current occupants of the left side.
While we are 8th at present defeat to-day could see us drop further down the table. In our current form we look to have no chance of an automatic promotion place and will be extremely fortunate to reach the play-offs.
We have not progressed this season which was surely MM's brief in the summer. If he is unable to take us forward, surely Morgan will act sooner rather than later?

In my opinion the time to assess progress will be a the end of the season.

You're right about it not being up to scratch so far though.

The loss of Keogh and Kightly have been more substantial in this bad run than who we have as manager.

Now Keogh is back looking like his old self, we might have a decent outlet up front to create something.

I cannot believe this post. If MM is such a good man manager why are we in a tail spin with good players confidence shattered and others not getting a look in. McCarthy's man management is very one dimensional i.e. if kick ass does not work you can't play in my team.

Er...Keogh came to Wolves as forward who did a lot of hard running but didn't score many goals....no change there; Elliot came to us unfit and with no recent record of goalscoring....no change but now with no confidence because needs to be 6ft 4in to play up front; Bothroyd came with a poor goalscoring record and a bad attitude...slightly improved attitude but still not a striker; Davies....who knows he never plays for the first team; Eastwood bought with a good goalscoring record...now asked to play in a team pattern that doesn't suit him, can't score now and seems to have lost the will to live; Collins was released by Sunderland because he wasn't very good....now playing but with no confidence even in his limited ability; Craddock rated so poorly he was loaned out to the Potties, but then bought back in a panic....one possible example of good man management.

All in all can't agree with Angry Adrian's assessment of Mick, at least in the cases of the above players. However, just to surprise him I'm, not for sacking Mick yet. Lets see what happens over the window and when we have Mighty Mickey and Craddock back, plus Olo off on his holidays.

But...if we end up the season in the bottom half of the table we'll all have to bow down to Stewarton and ask his forgiveness!

keogh has been nursed through a sticky patch and has come back looking better than ever, bothroyd came to the club unable and unwilling to put a shift in, he ended last season playing the best football of his career, craddock was an error prone centre half constantly picked on by fans, mick loaned him out to give him a change of scenery, which is sometimes all a player needs to regain a bit of form, and now he's our defensive messiah. Whichever way you look at it you can make it fit your perspective. Last season we had the best team spirit we've had in years, this year we're in the 'storming' phase of team development, a few new additions in january will see this group move into the 'performing' echelon, of that i am positive.

Eh! We are not storming or look like performing. The results are not what we are looking for, especially from a team tipped for promotion at the beginning of the season.

It's no so much the results but the performances and lack of chances we are creating.. We are getting a long ball side...
