I think are current squad is to big without quality needed to maintain a push for promotion. with january window coming up who is good enough to keep, and who is no longer needed.

now forget your own personall fav players, try and answer honestly.

matt murray ...............................class and prem quality
wayne hennessey.....................class and is improving all time.

darren ward.....................does the job in this div.
neil collins.......................good bench warmer only. (not left back)
gary breen.......................good cover for this div.
jody craddock...................does the job at this level.
rob edwards.......get rid, not ever going to improve/not good enoughf.
mark little................send out on loan....improver.
charlie mulgrew........does not look like defender..loan out. try midfeild.
jamie clapham.................free transfer asap
michael grey.............offers something diff, does the job at this level.
kevin foley...................1 for the future, getting better/good already.

seyi olofinjana........does the job at level.
michael kightly.........my personal fav, prem class
karl henry.............grinder and does the job at level
darren potter......free transfer...offers nothing, never going to improve.
mark davies........given a chance injury free ill keep him.
mathew jarvis..........dont know much, but good at level.
stepen gleeson............loan him out to get experiance.
lewis gobern.......no opinion here, never fit but seems to have potential
darren gibson..........he cost nothing and could be good at level.

andrew keogh..........mr grinder himself....cant score but ill keep him.
jay bothroyed.........attitude or not, class at level.
stephen ward.........at this level is ok, improving a lot recently.
stephen elliot..........will score bundles at level given chance.
freddy eastwood.......when clicks into place, will be superb.

so out of all the above which is are current 1st team squad, ive kept 19 of them, with others to be loaned or transfered. out of the 19 i kept only 13 are fit.

what we have is numbers with with no quality, for example 10 defenders of which foley is only improver who is good enough already. craddock-grey-breen-collins-ward will all do a job.

in the middle kites is the only one proven to be good enough at higher level. jarvis-davies- could improve to be anything, but we have not had games out of them, so cant be relied on. olo is good but will not improve, henry same as olo.

upfront we have great players for this level, but keogh will never be a goal scorer. ward looks better on wing. the other 3 will score the goals and all of them have potential to improve.

in my opinion we need wingers who are fit, a play maker in middle who can take set pieces also. along with injury free with squad. i think we could do it. but when 2 key players like craddock-kites are out the team looks disjointed and performes terrable because of the shape.

The team are currently third in the division so it seems that the squad may be doing ok at the moment.

Surely we should be adding players to strengthen the squad rather than disposing of them?

Its a bit depressing that you think Darren Potter is "never going to improve", seeing as he's only 22 and has only made 47 professional starts.

fenella, watching Potter play, or atempt to is depressing mate.

For all the hype that came with him he has been disappointing in most every game I've seen him play.

I think most professional pundits would take George into the Premiership.

I'd keep Potter as well.

Gibson isn't ours to keep our sell ..he's on loan

And Ikeme ..i'd keep him

I wouldn't say that necessarily. Its good to keep the squad lean and mean. If we bring 3 or 4 quality players in in January then we need to ship 3 or 4 players out, especially if we can get a fee for them. So its a good thread, although I don't think we'll bring anyone in or let anyone go in January.

How can we not bring anyone in in January when we are averaging ONE goal per game and have aspirations of promotion ?

And if you're right, may well be, what was the point of Steve Morgan ?

I think there'll be money available, but I just feel that McCarthy will struggle to find anyone available to buy that he feels is better than what we've got.

Also, as a club, we'll find ourselves back in the situation we were in the old days whereby clubs quote stupid prices because they know we've got lots of money, and I don't think McCarthy and Morgan are the types who are prepared to get ripped off.

Gratters, the point of steve morgan was to long term financially secure the club!

.........News just in......despite never being in a position to play a first choice 11 due to injuries, Wolves are 3rd in the table 3pts off the top........

potter is only 22 and will improve ,have you ever noticed though how he doesnt give the ball away as much as henry or oli?

perhaps its more to de with the players round him who dont move for him.

i disagree with your evaluation of Potter and Seyi, who both i think would do better in the premiership...

Was it Gomez (George Graham lookylikey), Spanish midfielder. Very technical, never gave ball away. Do you think if Potter was foreign he'd be looked at differently? Probably not, but you get what I mean. Or maybe you don't !!! (Where's the confused smiley?)

dont really understand what your saying mate, but yes i remember Gomez .I just feel that Potter looks for balls to play only to find no movement therefore plays the easy ball sideways.

All the criticism of Potter is shocking, the Wolves fans have always had to have a scapegoat, whenever things go wrong. The amount of times one of our own players has been booed is incredible.

Potter is young, he gets a load of stick from the crowd every time he gets the ball.

True he isnt playing great at the moment, but in his circumstances most wouldnt.

Example - Left wing? Ward or Kennedy. Ward has been terrible on the left wing yet everyone loves him. I would have Kennedy there even now ANYDAY over that shower of $$$$ yet the fans booed him once when he scored a goal!!!!!

Example - Central Mid? Potter or Emblen. Potter played really well for the second half of last season but has never had any support from the fans. Emblen, possibly the worst CM I have ever seen yet how the fans loved him!!!!

Fickle??? I think so.
