Another exclusive from Moira Stewart. glasgowwolf 13-11-2007, 16:34 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/p/preston/7089492.stm What a difference 12 months make. I wanted him as Wolves manager. excellent manager, far 2 quick IMHO jbarnettuk1984 13-11-2007, 16:34 they have started poorly but he's done a good job there. Jamboon 13-11-2007, 16:35 Another one who has paid the price for over acheiving in his first season dazmanwolf 13-11-2007, 16:38 ...And he was the first choice for manager before MM came along! I remember Moxey and SJH saying it at the time. HIGHLANDER 13-11-2007, 16:51 ...And he was the first choice for manager before MM came along!I remember Moxey and SJH saying it at the time. That's no suprise if you take in to consideration Sir Jacks and the Piemans record of choosing managers. Bend It Like Dennison 13-11-2007, 16:53 Nugents goals carried Preston last season. Stick Nugent in a bottom 6 team they'd be in the play off spots come Christmas. Del Woppio 13-11-2007, 16:55 That's no suprise if you take in to consideration Sir Jacks and the Piemans record of choosing managers. Is it because he's so FAT? Comedy gold, my friend Wolv3nsam 13-11-2007, 16:57 Nugents goals carried Preston last season. Stick Nugent in a bottom 6 team they'd be in the play off spots come Christmas. He's still overrated IMO. Paul76 13-11-2007, 17:07 He looks very poor in the Premiership. Cardiff Wolf 13-11-2007, 17:22 Shocking decision by PNE, makes them more likely for relegation than with Simmo in charge. WorcesterWolf 13-11-2007, 17:44 Shocking decision by PNE, makes them more likely for relegation than with Simmo in charge. I disagree, he started well last season, but since around the time we beat them (February, 1-0, great day :D) they went totally down hill! They finished very badly and missed out on the play offs after being in pole-position, and they're not doing well now either. Knew it was coming. As High as a Kightly 13-11-2007, 18:23 he did ok for us as a player, hope he gets a decent job! Papper 13-11-2007, 19:49 It's normally about this time of the season when the panic sets in and stupid decisions get made. I think Paul Simpson has proven a very capable and articulate manager who will come back even better. As the other man said he overachieved, had a decent striker and wasn't given time or the finance to rebuild. Evolution Wolf 13-11-2007, 19:50 feel quite sorry for him thought he did a very good job last season. Wolv3nsam 13-11-2007, 19:51 I recall on "Big League Weekend" last night on Sky Sports 1 he said he'd never leave Preston and would only go if he was sacked. Shame really. MK Panther 13-11-2007, 22:30 I recall on "Big League Weekend" last night on Sky Sports 1 he said he'd never leave Preston and would only go if he was sacked. Shame really. Should set up a stall at Blackpool pleasure beach what a clairvoyant! Essex Wolf 14-11-2007, 15:30 Shame he has gone really as seemed a decent bloke but results are the be all and end all and clearly PNE's were not good enough this season. Nugent kept PNE in the hunt and once he left the team seemed to fall apart. Strange how one player can make such a difference. glasgowwolf 14-11-2007, 16:25 To many Knee jerk reactions I saw on the Big Weekend that McCarthy was number 10 or 11 in the list of longest serving managers. That is ridiculous. Only 12 had served longer than one full season. wolfie smith 14-11-2007, 19:30 Shame he has gone really as seemed a decent bloke but results are the be all and end all and clearly PNE's were not good enough this season. Strange how one player can make such a difference. we'll soon see when olo goes to africa;) Mugwump 15-11-2007, 08:27 Nugent didnt even score over 15 goals in the league last season IIRC |
