On Saturday just infront of me in the Billy Quiet upper there was a scout from Everton How do i know this well believe it or not he had a huge blue umbro jacket with Chang Beer on the back not very under cover. Along side him was legendary England ex stopper Chris Woods. If they were scouting Wayne how much would you want? I

I'd sell him for £5million

6 Million and Lescott back.

If anyone comes in with £5m + along with a nice sell on/appearance fee then we should sell IMO

and play who in goal?

Del Woppio

Agreed, £5m + 25% sell on clause, and a friendly at Molineux. And a left winger on loan.

Not until the summer, though.

We'd easily get a replacement good enough for this division for less than £2m.. and lets face it when Murray returns Hennesey will be number 2 anyway..

we had this the other week. As i said before we'd be stupid to sell, unless Wayne was desperate to go. He's irreplaceable atm!

How much did the Mackems pay for their keeper? If Everton's greatest ever keeper believes Wayne is as good as he says he is, it's not unreasonable, but I wouldn't even consider it till the summer

No, no and thrice no.

We'd be mad to sell. He might be worth a decent amount now but that is nothing compared to what he'll be worth in three years if we get promoted.

I would imagine there are scouts from most Premier League clubs keeping tabs on him,it's what they do.

but how long will Matt be fit for? Much as I rate Murray, with his injury record, we need to think in terms of Hennessey being our number 1. Whilst everyone has a price I would not sell him, even in the summer, unless we were offered funny money for him.

Yea, then if we get promoted we can buy a keeper good enough for the premiership... someone like Murray or Hennessey.

...or we could just keep him instead as we don't need to sell.
:P

Sounds like the best idea ... why would we sell? are we short of money? (NO i hear you cry), do we have a better keeper (MURRAY I hear some cry). Is Murray fit? (NO i hear you cry). Does he want to leave? (NO i hear him shout).

Unless we are selling him on the future's market for about £10m..

Maybe it wasn't a scout at all, maybe it was an old man that had just bought a cheap coat from Oxfam on the way to the ground seeing as it was a bit nippy!

Eastern - agreed what ever Hearts got for Gordon based on his potential is the type of figure we would have to ask for Wayne. I can't see Everton paying what he's potentially worth, they got Jo on the cheap hope we don't make the same mistake twice

We aren't in a position at the moment where we have to sell which is a bonus, last season I imagine that if a club had bid 5 million for any of our players we would have sold them. If they do bid a ridiculous amount of money and he goes then I think Stuart Taylor from Villa would be a decent signing.

Mr Wolf
12-11-2007, 15:52
Why would we sell him for £5m. Beside the fact that we don't need to and shouldn't as we will need him for when were in the prem but he will be worth about £10m next season. Gordon £9m about the same for Carson aswell so a few more internationals under his belt and a good season for us will see his value rocket.

Unless he's desperate to move keep him.

Having an ex keeper with him he may well have been. No doubt Kightly would have caught their attention anyway

The scout watching Kightly and Chris Woods Wayne, makes sense.

Wolves have no need to sell their best players and if it was Hennersey they were watching, well with Murray and Ikeme both unfit it would make absolutely no sense to sell unless they made a massive offer and £5million these days is not massive anymore.

Can you imagine Morgan selling any decent quality players to Everton? - I doubt it very much since he supports the other team in Liverpool!

Waggy's Boots
12-11-2007, 16:45
I really doubt that we are a selling club at the moment - certainly not for the position with least (fit) cover!! With Murray and Ikeme injured we'd be mad to sell

i'd be more worried if it was kightly they were watching. I wouldn't sell him for less than £10m. Purely for the fact he's the best player outside the prem, and would be the difference between us going up or not.

Maybe they were watching a Barnsley player - a few snippets of fact and a truth emerges. I think too many of here are watching reruns of the X-Files on UK Living.

Murray is better than Hennessey by a long way. (Kicking excluded of course).

Would be nice to let them know that we have an even better goalie in the reserves who they can have for 6m. Or 1m and the rest when he makes more than 5 appearances. I would rather keep Hennesey especailly now were are not using the multi ball system at home

murray is infinitely better than hennessey, but hennessey is much younger and has much to learn. Matt Murray was easily the best keeper in our division last year and was voted championship player of the season. Perhaps we havn't seen the best of what wayne can do because he is receiving better protection than matt did last season, thankfully giving him less opportunity to display his talents?

You are seriously kidding right ????

If £5m was offered (which it won't be) of course we should take it. I have only just stopped having nightmares about the goal Bristol City scored which a sunday village side keeper would have been ashamed to concede ! In 100 lifetimes Murray would not have conceded that goal.

Wolves will continue to sell their good players unless we get into the PL. Even if Morgan makes this financially unnecessary, the players' ambitions will eventually take over.

When Everton were watching Lescott I spotted Gary Ablett at the Mol a couple of times He was also wearing a big Everton jacket and was sitting in the Billy Wright stand. So this thread could be very true..

If we were to get a good offer like 5-6m, there's no reason why it can't be put in the deal that we either loan him straight back till the end of the season or the deal is agreed but won't go through till the end of the season. Then we've got all summer to find a replacement.

The truth of the matter is though, when Murray's back, there's no way on this planet we can have both of them, neither will want to sit on the bench. It's the problem with goalkeepers, there's only 1 position and it's unlikely you're going to get a run out as sub. I'd put money that promoted or not, by the end of the 2008/2009 season, we'll only have one of them here.

Moyes is a canny bugger.

He is an ex-CCC manager, and so values and appreciates the talents in the lower leagues having seen it first hand.

He has taken punts on Lescott, Cahill, Jagielka, A Johnson.

I can quite easily see him spending big on Wayne as he will see the future potential.
