Trawling through various posts on here people are saying we don't need anybody,or one more player to be a fantastic team,or wait till January for the icing on the cake etc. etc.

Well as a Wolves supporter for a very long time I have to say I am not in total agreement.

Yes we've had loads of shots and near misses so by the law of averages we will start to score a few eventually, but we could also go ages and still keep missing them.Miller has played very well so far except in the goalscoring dept. the longer this continues the more he will get depressed and descend into a rut.

We certainly are missing Ince but he's on the way out anyway and nobody at the club is anywhere near good enough to replace him.Ricketts gives his all but he's not a Paul Ince.

If Lescott gets injured we really are in the s***e as he is usually a one man band in defence,we need a centre half who can play a bit.

Don't get me wrong we ain't that bad,it's just I think a few people may be over estimating our capabilities.

What's everybody else think ?

I think that the fact that we have practically slaughtered the last 3
opponents we have faced (one of them promotion candidates) in terms of
possession and chances, I think the team is a very good one - probably
the best overall. Problem is with converting the chances. With Cort
getting 3 on Tuesday and hopefully finding is scoring boots for future
games, it may take some of the pressure off Miller, so may be easier
for him knowing that the goals are still coming from somewhere.

If we do not suffer an injury crisis, I think we will be in close contention come the next transfer window, and would hope that Glenn then targets more realistic players to strengthen the squad.

Very very few players at any club are WW, and even less are anything
like as good as he was in his prime. Thats why players of that calibre,
and at the right age command transfer feees of £10M+ . If Ricketts was
that good, there is no way he would be playing for us, but would be
with one of the top three Prem teams or a top continental side. We will
be incredibly lucky to replace him with anyone anywhere near as good as
he is/was. Our best chance is an emerging youngster such as Davies if
he continues to develop.

Exatly my view Sekotin and come January I sincerely hope new signings are made if Wolves are ina good position.

We can outplay teams all season, but if we don't keep the back door shut and make use of our plethora of chances it won't make any difference. Possession doesn't win you the league.

I highlighted this a few days ago MM but some felt otherwise.

Why doesn't that surprise me. Pretty football is all good and well, but the squad for me, although being strong, does not have enough to get us in the top two. The back four is most worrying for me.

If you ask me, it'sa MUST that we sign players in Jan if we're doing well. It will then be less of arisk and more of a consolidation.

Agree 100%, i just hope we're not in a position that we have to spend money to salvage a poor or mediocre season.

<shudders at the thought of mid-table mediocrity again>

All we need is luck with injuries and we'll be A-OK, MM!Edited by: Sozzled Wolf

The squad is good enough and big enough without extra signings (not that a couple more wouldn't be welcome). We will gain automatic promotion imo with what we have.

PS. I'm a happy clapper. smileys/smiley1.gif
