Won 4 - 1, Rosa 1 Bothroyd 1 and 2 for Hughes.

Sounds like Jarvis had a good game

Yes sounds promising. Jarvis and Jay to start against Charlton.

I always want to see Wolves winning no matter what - championship, reserves, acedemy, etc. That is a very good result.

Really disappointed not to have got there - but I think Arthur and one or two others did so we may get a more biased report later :D:D

Be good to see Jarvis in the first team on Saturday (at last!!) He sounds like he's ready!

I was there today. It was a really open game and IMHO Town should have scored more, the scoreline flattered us a bit despite us being by far the superior team.

Highlights for me:

Jarvis looked lively throughout the game. He is useful with both feet and has a decent turn of pace.

Mark Little had a decent game, and for me his link up play with Bennet was the highlight of the first half.

Ward had a good game too but was never really troubled too much.

First time i have seen Hughes but he look as though he could become a decent player. Physical and always put himself about. Should of had a hat-trick

Bothroyd did ok, a little fancy at times but did a lot of running and was unlucky to hit the post. Good goal too.

Rosa did ok, full of running but anyone who thinks he is the answer to our midfields creativity problems they are mistaken. He was a class above an average STFC reserves side, but now I'm not so sure that he would make much of an impact in the championship.

Nice to see Mick, Terry C, Jez and our new chairman at the match. Jez on his mobile for much of the second half. Kaka on his way?

"Span and drilled a great shot"??

I see the education system in the UK has deteriorated somewhat.

So Polak do you think Jarvis is ready for Championship football? Is he fit or as they say is he match sharp? Cheers for the verdict.

He was playing against a poor side, i think he will feature at some point at the weekend.

My first impressions were that he had talent, only time will tell if he proves to be a success

Cool I really do expect to see a different Wolves with the right balance on the left. I Wonder who's going to replace Gray?

Rosa does seem to be performing consistency (albeit at reserve team level) surely he should be deserving of a place on the bench, particularly if we are struggling for goals/creating chances.

Cheers for the report Polak, sounds like Jarvis has a real chance of featuring at some point on Saturday. Good to hear Bennett had a good game as well, saw him at Nuneaton last week (albeit he was playing RB) and thought he looked a very bright prospect.

Neill Collins more than likely.

He definately has got something about him, he has had a few rough games for the first team so far this season, but he is definately one to look out for in the future.

Lee Collins looked ok at left back, got caught out a few times in terms of postion but again one to watch out for. Not sure if he is ready for championship football yet. Maybe next year?

Most would probably see this as a stupid idea, but rather than renew Breen and Craddock's contracts in the summer when they run out we should offer them some sort of 'mentoring' contract so they can help the likes of Lee Collins. I think their experience would be best utilised helping our younger players mature rather than on the pitch.

I'm pretty sure I read on here about Lee Collins marking Theo Walcott completely out of a youth academy game, I'm not too sure if it was on here or another Wolves forum mind.

That's a good point. Maybe MM will offer Breen a coaching role. I know Collins scored the winner against Coventry and I like the player as a centre half but I do hope he doesn't play against Charlton as a leftback. Who do Charlton have as a left winger these days?

Wasnt that Mark Little?

It was Mark Little, and it was Neill Collins who scored against Coventry, not Lee!

Yes, got there yesterday, although Loafing Wolf was on parents duty at school and couldnt make it. Firstly I have to say what a great ground the New Meadow is, I was able to park on the car park at the stadium although it confused the hell out of Tom Tom who thought I was in the middle of a field.

My overall impression?

I reserve judgement on Matt Jarvis, I would be surprised to see him against Charlton, he didnt seem to me to be up to the mark just yet. He got his feet in a tangle at times, whilst being desperate to impress, and I thought that their full back had the measure of him from early on and certainly did him for pace on most accassions. Cant deny he was busy but at the moment he will struggle against Championship defences. Best wait in my opinion, particularly if Neil Collins is playing at left back. I can see him teaming up effectively with Gray though.

There were those who stood out, purely because they ought to have found it easier than most, namely Bothroyd who just finds playing this game so easy, to the point of appearing lazy, but maybe he really is.

Darren Ward who was the daddy of the back four and credit to him for leading them well, he was quite clearly someone who the youngsters looked to. Their trialist number 9 was a bit of a handful in the first half but as the game went on Darren certainly had his number.

Denes Rosa, although he is good on the ball and looks the part at times, impressing the Town supporters around me, you just have to question whether he has that extra spark to make it into Micks side. I personally dont think so, maybe if he was four inches taller.

Mark Little should look good at this level and he was competent enough but you just feel that he needs a greater challenge than this to enable him to progress. Lets hope he gets a good loan deal and a higher standard to play in.

Of the others I think that the one who stood out by a mile to me was young Mark Salmon, holding in midfield and linking up with the defence and attack, he looked comfortable on the ball and distributed it well, I like him a lot.

Elliot Bennett, certainly not out of his depth here and also looked good.

Liam Hughes, big lad who I think enjoyed playing alongside Bothroyd and took his goals well, but should have at least a hat trick. Also had a couple of ear bendings from Bothroyd but gave him some back on one occassion.

I can see a few of these being the targets of loan deals, but they wont be pushing for selection by Mick just yet.

A lovely sunny afternoon in a great little ground, overall a most enjoyable loaf.

Top stuff Artie - thanks for that.

Interesting appraisal of Jarvis (or "the saviour" as he seems to be known by some :D) did he look fit or do you think his lack of pace was still lay off related??

BTW it is a great ground isn't it!

Hi Bertie, no wonder I couldnt spot you,

the "kid" marking Jarvis was just a kid who was out to impress, from all accounts the reserves at Town have every incentive to play for selection to the first team, as the first team are pants. But to me he wasnt unduly troubled by MJ, although I was too far from the action in the second half to be too critical.

I hadnt realised that MM was there, I was so far away from the dugout I could only see Bobby Mimms and the Physio Barry Holmes. So it doesnt surprise me that Jarvis was trying hard to impress, I think his enthusiasm compensated for his lack of match fitness, but he certainly was second to a number of long passes down the left flank in the first half.

I'm sure that will come, but I dont think he should be put in against Charlton especially if Collins is left back.

Thats a great little ground I agree
