From Sunderland according to the NOTW.

Not the most reliable paper but wouldnt be surprised if it was true.

Yeah read that myself. It's most probably true going by Mccarthy's pattern of signings so far lets be honest!!

Well been on the Sunderland message board and they seem to think Murphy should go as he has been poor this season but Collins has got back into the side and is playing very well.

Murphy is a very good winger at this level and was one of Sunderlands best players last season.

The Sun/NOTW are usually the closest with regard to signings. I really don't want any more irish u21's or people who are not good enough for Sunderland.

Why won't you want Irish U'21's if they were the quality of Keogh and Foley?

Surely its not about Nationality or clubs they have played for but whether or not they are good enough?

Its because we are ruling out the rest of the transfer market because its easier to look at these only Ireland/Sunderland.

I fail to see what all the excitement is over Keogh, yes he works hard and runs around a lot, but in my book he is still a mid table championship player at best. Foley has a bit more about him, as for the rest of the Irish u21's, we have the next bright star in Gleeson who really isn't good enough. The Irish u21 squad is poor. Thats why I don't want any more players from there.

You should be a manager for Man United with all your expert knowledge.

In these few words, you demonstrate how little you know about football and probably explains some of your strange opinions!

In your 12 years on this planet you have never seen a good Wolves team, maybe that's why your standards are so low.

Is that your best response? Grow up!

My first Wolves game was in 1976 in the old Molineux St Stand. Wolves v QPR, both goalkeepers called Phil Parkes and my dad was disgusted that the South Bank were taking the mickey out of Stan Bowles who had just split from his wife!

Ive been a season ticket pretty much since 1978 so Ive seen the ups and downs and to be honest Mick would be right up there with the likes of John Barnwell as my favourite Wolves managers.

So No, I haven't got low standards at all and please try to give an inteligent response rather than one from the playground!

I am with you Stewarton. This guy Weston adds nothing to the site. He is an opinionated little twit who needs to grow up and state his position without abusing all and sundry.

Trust me Murphy is a very good player lads! I'm not sure about Collins though.
As for Foley and Keogh they would be two of the first players down on my team sheet at Wolves. Both quality players. We need to find the right partner for Keogh and to my mind Foley is the best right back in the league. How can Staunton not pick him for the Ireland Squad?

Woburn, I don't think the issue is the fact that I'm opionionated but the fact that my opinions are not the same as yours.

I really do hope this is just the usual NOTW tosh.

Wolves have more than enough ex Sunderland/Micks old mates at the club.

:D I don't have an axe to grind here but that response (above) is like something out the playground "... my dad's bigger than your dad ..."

You could have responded with a bit of class " ... I've been a season ticket holder for 30 years and my standards have been defined by the level of football on offer during that period..." :)

Now, where's my sand pit ... ?

Ginger Chimp - it may have been a playground response but dear old Stewarton doesn't seem to have a reply for it. Not even some half-arsed sarcy comment.

I remember going on a Sunderland board during the summer when the transfer market was still open and we were rumoured to be signing him then - most of the Sunderland fans didn't seem to rate him at all.

I have never understood why managers insist on bringing players from their old clubs that have reached a level that cannot be exceeded. What is the point? They are loads of players to choose from so move on, be progressive and use someone else. As well as MM' simple outlook on football tactics this is anohte rone of his weaknesses - identifying ability not just potential -

I think Mick sees it as if this side gained promotion at Sunderland then they may be able to gain promotion here at Wolves, hopefully if we go up he'll drop his Sunderland liabilities and go for players that will actually keep us up and then take it from there.

Managers often go for what they know - its a results orientated business and why take a risk on an unknown quantity when you can get a player you've worked with and know inside out, good and bad.

McCarthy has made his fair share of unknowns and some have come off (Kightly, Henry, Foley) and others haven't. Some of his ex-players have done a job and some haven't. He's no different from most other managers and if he thinks that Murphy and Collins bring something extra to the current squad it doesn't really matter.

This had me thinking.....If we keep looking at Sunderland players,we might as well changed our name to Wunderland.
Sunderland's stadium-Stadium of light
Wunderland-Out of the darkness, cometh the light. lol

It surprises me how this idea is lost on so many people on here.
