As promised a short post about Freddy's performance in last night's Wales defeat in Nicosia at the hands of Cyprus. Let me start by saying that Wales were atrocious and were completely outplayed by a Cypriot side that contained nine players playing in the Cypriot First Division, one from the Spanish Segunda Division and one from the Bundesliga.
Freddy partnered Bellamy upfront but both were starved of any decent service from the midfield in which old favourite Carl Robinson reminded everybody why crab is his middle name! Freddy's first touch was good enough but he honestly didn't look fit to me and it seems he has to work really hard in training to get Mick's attention.
He was substituted on 59 minutes with Wales 1-0 up and Cyprus went on to score 3. Pure coincidene, mind you, as the writing was on the wall.
Overall, pretty disappointing from Eastwood but a good day for Cypriot football.

The question is certainly whether he is prepared to work really hard in training.
The small minority who were calling for Mick's head over Eastwood and the marginally more sensible few who merely questioned Mick over the issue, seemed to have very quiet in the last 7 days!

Thanks for the report mate, and well played Cyprus. From the reports I've read, Wales were woeful, and Eastwood was "subdued".

As one of the moderates you mention, I should point out that what got most people's goat was Mick's public treatment of Eastwood. The question of what that has done to Eastwood's confidence and motivation probably still remains, though I admit that if the guy is letting himself get out of condition due to one dressing down by the manager there can be little doubt that he lacks character.
It's plain and simple with Eastwood he is reliant on service from midfield and the flanks. Hopefully the return of the likes of Jarvis and Gobern and the impending signing of Gibson will give us more creativity to feed the likes of Freddy.
I remember the days when Paul Cook used to create a fair amount of Bully's goals. We need one of our midfielders to thread balls through for Freddy. Give him a chance and he will score.

Problem is,from what I have read , Freddy is usually standing next to the midfielder in question !!

All this suggests that Bent Nosed Mick didn't know what he was signing!
So who is at fault?! He has scored more goals than the rest of your front line in this division put together, and you want to change him!? Behave bloke.

It's funny......Eastwood has a poor game for Wales and people use this as another rod to beat him with.Keogh has a poor game for the Rep. of Ireland........hardly a peep.
I watched the Welsh game and it seemed that whenever the M/F had the ball they tried to pick out Bellamy. This may have been due to Toshack's instructions or Bellamy's instructions or the fact that they were missing their best passer(Earnshaw also saw very little of the ball). Thus Freddy had little opportunity to shine. However,he did create the best chance for Bellamy, which he missed badly.
Wales were awful, looked disinterested,so to single Eastwood out seems a little unfair.
Bellamy and Eastwood doesn't inspire confidence in me as a striking pair anyway.

Are you sure?
Well not for me but that's my personal preference. I like the big man little man combination. I think that's what Wolves are missing.

I'm among those questionng MM's decisions over Eastwood and continue to do so.
MM's public slating of Eastwood was unprofessional to start with but the worst issue of all is the money MM has wasted on the player. MM signed Eastwood and if he had done his job properly would know full well what he was getting. If he has done his homework and knew what he was getting why slate the player for being what most people knew he was?
