HIGHLANDER 13-10-2007, 16:11 he makes his debut! When was the last time we had a player come through our youth ranks that played for england?John Richards 1973?? we love jez moxey 13-10-2007, 16:20 i was thinking tim flowers or stan collymore. Both were part of our youth setup at some point wern't they? HIGHLANDER 13-10-2007, 16:31 i was thinking tim flowers or stan collymore. Both were part of our youth setup at some point wern't they?I think you are right. Flowers made a dozen or so appearances for England, and Collymore made a couple. I think Collymore was originally a Smallsall apprentice though before he came to Wolves, so he doesn't really count. Alan Sunderland is another Wolves lad that went on to play for England. Woburn Wolf 13-10-2007, 17:09 I thought that Jo did OK. Hopefully a part of the add-ons that Moxey negotiated included Wolves being paid a fee if Jo became a full international. That should be basic....be pretty bad business if we don't get a few extra £ss jbarnettuk1984 13-10-2007, 17:18 he looked uncomfortable. nearly let their centre forward in a couple of times with poor communication with robinson and on the second occasion by letting the ball bounce. also slipped on his arse a couple of times. could have done much better but against a poor team and with such a big occasion on his hands i guess only time will tell if our Jo can hack it at international level. shrewsbury_wolf 13-10-2007, 17:37 Our Jo was probably very nervous, I thought he did ok. I put that down to Robinson, it was clearly a ball for the keeper to come and get - an early shout and and collect and there would have been no danger. haden-wolf 13-10-2007, 18:00 the lad looked a bit nervous, but he let nobody down. good on you jo Evolution Wolf 13-10-2007, 18:04 I couldn't tell you who was the last since im more than likely too young to remember. Great to see Lescott get a run. By the way did anyone pick up on the commentator saying A.Cole doesn't dive!!! He's probibly the the person that would do it most of all in the team that played today. Bevan 13-10-2007, 18:56 Not the best debut by any stretch but hopefully he can kick on from here. Needs to be more assured in the centre or more adventurous at left back, but certainly his versatility is a real bonus for England. Can't see him playing any part in Moscow however. northnorfolkwolf 13-10-2007, 18:59 Watched England in crowded bar in Turkey wearing my Wolves shirt. Very proud and emotional moment especially when some fans came up and shook my hand. Well done Joleon. Hopefully many more caps to follow. Powelly 13-10-2007, 22:44 Wouldnt be surprised if he plays left back on wednesday... no other reason to shift him to that position today as phil neville could easily have slotted in there. Mutchy 13-10-2007, 22:50 The way the commentators were talking, it sounded like they wanted anyone but Jo there for the Russia match. It's Mixu Paatelainen 14-10-2007, 00:54 I'll bet Jo was nervous, my hand was actually shaking when he came on, and I was only watching it! So, so proud and delighted for the guy. John 14-10-2007, 01:13 my hand was actually shaking when he came on, and I was only watching it!. I get like that for porn, but each to thier own. leedswolf 14-10-2007, 01:34 I think you are right. Toon Wolf 14-10-2007, 08:35 The way the commentators were talking, it sounded like they wanted anyone but Jo there for the Russia match. I agree, they seemed to want Shorey or Phil Neville there. Not sure if that's because he is basically the only cover at centre back in the squad? Swinford Wolf 14-10-2007, 11:44 I agree, they seemed to want Shorey or Phil Neville there. Not sure if that's because he is basically the only cover at centre back in the squad? At the end of the day he is a centre back & not a left back . He must be the only person to play in two different positions in 45 minutes whilst making his debut. This must show how much faith the coaching staff have in him.Well done Jo , hope it`s the first of many caps. RyanWolf 14-10-2007, 14:02 I thought he did pretty well, apart from the incident that led to Cashley's injury when he let it bounce in front of him. He may be needed at LB on Wednesday at some point. northnorfolkwolf 14-10-2007, 22:00 Just seen on SSN that Ashley Cole is out for Wednesday. Gives Joleon the chance for a further cap and a chance to impress. It certainly makes watching internationals more enjoyabkle if there is a Wolves player involved.I include the likes of Jo and Robbie Keane even though they have moved on. Black Suit 14-10-2007, 23:50 Shorey is pathetic, and this season has highlighted just that. Ignore them. You know we have problems, look at the squad we yearn for! Not that special is it? MK Panther 15-10-2007, 00:30 Watched England in crowded bar in Turkey wearing my Wolves shirt. Very proud and emotional moment especially when some fans came up and shook my hand. Well done Joleon. Hopefully many more caps to follow. Great news when he came on, but he was totally unsure of himself. The type of debut where you may not get another chance. Anyway I also wish him well but more interested in the lads we have here at Molineux.
