You gotta love the goalies. I watched some of the highlights the other night and the main tactic every team seems to use is shoot from anywhere on the pitch and you have a chance of scoring.

The Argentine keeper actually punched two balls into her own net against Germany which was amusing.
I have to be honest though, the standard has been a lot better than what i expected, although there is such a gap in quality between the good teams and the poor teams, which showed in the 11-0 scoreline that Germany beat Argentina by.
I've got into it and im willing the girls on, There actually doing our nation proud out there. However Saturdays quarter final looks like its going to be against USA, which is going to be a difficult and entertaining game.
Highlights from the game against Argentina today will be on BBC2 at 11.50 if anyones interested.

Womens football is pap. FACT. It's like gays trying to play football, except more gay.

Dont be so bloody stupid! Womens football is by no means "Pap". The game has progressed considerably over the last few years and there are several extremely good teams out there. England, whilst not up there maybe with USA, Sweeden and Germany, still have a good team at this level and more importantly are developing and improving.
Maybe if you lowered your expectations and didnt expect them to play the same way and the same kind of game as the men then you would be surprised.
There is no room for all this sexism rubbish and its about time that people realised Womens Football is an extremely popular game that is now being played by more and more young women throughout the world. The game should be encouraged, not shot down by sexist men who have been watching men for that long they are disullusioned enough to think that they are the only ones who can play the game.
At least the women are out there and giving it a good shot in this world cup. They are currently ranked in the same position as the men, 12th in the World. However there is one difference, they over achieve, the men often under achieve.
Time for Mr PeteWolf to move on to the 21st century me thinks!!

There's nothing "sexist" about it, it's abysmal to watch and you'll see better quality football at West Park on a Sunday morning.

Thats why some of the players in this world cup play football on a professional basis, i can guarantee nobody on West Park on Sunday mornings will be playing professional football.
If it was that bad, why do people pay to watch them, and why are they paid to play?
Get a Grip!

I've got no idea why people pay to watch it. Do you think that you'll see a goalkeeper not once, but twice in the same game throw the ball into their own net (literally) in many parks games?

Nothing sexist about it. I've watched a number of womens games, yet every time I normally turn off the TV halfway through because it's so terminally boring.
The tackling is more tame, the pace is slower, the skill is less. Fair play to women for trying to play, not having a go at that, good luck to them, but as a spectator sport it is undeniably pap in comparison to the mens game.

Im not saying it competes with the mens game and i totally agree that its not the same quality. I dont think anyone would argue with that. But the fact is that just because they dont compete with the mens game, doesnt mean its a crap sport.
Sunday league football doesn't compete with the professional mens game, but you dont get people slagging them off. There players playing at their level.
I do understand what your saying in the fact that its not the same quality of mens football, but we shouldnt expect that.
Just to give you an idea...If Freddy had scored this goal, we'd rave about it.

Each to their own, but I like watching attacking football where players get kicked up in the air in the tackle. It doesn't happen in any of the womens games I've watched, which to be honest just bore me. Other than Wolves, I watch a lot of non-league football, not the same quality as league, but just as (if not more) watchable due to the physical nature of the game.
I've nothing against women playing football, like I say, good luck to them, but as a spectator sport it is a very poor second.

and why no male refs/linesman ? as women have infected our game how come we can't do the same ?

Just out of interest does the female game have the offside rule or don't they understand it? :o
I watched the England Germany game and it wasn't too bad, much improved from the last game I watched a couple of years ago, certainly watchable.

Think it's a little unfair to compare the men's and women's game the keepers are so much smaller than their male counterparts so you do seem to have more spectacular goals scored (maybe why it's so popular in the states?)
But watch some of the ladies play and they have good touch and skill and it's worth watching
Regarding the tackling I've seen some ladies league stuff locally and to be fair the tackles fly, maybe not Ince style but they do get stuck in
