the most famous Wolves fan is definately Robert Plant. That is not to say he is the most famous for being a Wolves fan, although he may be that too.In fact, Robert Plant might be the most famous person to be known for his support of a particular team. The band Reef are also Wolves fans, although they're not famous anymore. Future famous Wolves fan - the singer in Manchester band The Whip carries his plectrums and stuff in a Wolves lunchbox.

also - Robert Plant is not a celebrity, he's a fully fledged rock star the type of which shall never happen again. Jade Goody is a celebrity.

I read a Clapton bio many, many years ago which confirmed the fact that he was a fan. Theres a story about WBA losing at home, and he was heading back to London on the train with some away fans who were taking the mickey. Clapton produces a gun - and tells them that his "friend" thinks WBA won and if anyone wants to disagree with his "friend", they were free to. Cue quiet train ride.

He had associations with Wolverhampton as he was Chairman of Wolverhampton and Bilston Athletics club which at the time were considered to be about the best about. When the IAA changed the rules that tracks had to be 8 tracks wide Wolves and Bilston could no longer compete at the highest level as Aldersley could not be upgraded.

Eric Clapton is a Villa fan, when he was going out with Steph Beecham, my friend went to the league cup final with him at Wembley, he wore a Villa shirt that day. Also all of his roadies used to have to wear Villa tops so he could recognize them.

Jack Bannister is a great bloke, I actually bought his testimonial tie when it was his benefit year back in the early sixties, met him many times at Wolverhampton Cricket Club. He was actually emplyed by Wolves in the Stan Cullis era, and I have heard him relate stoies about the time.

Anyone around the 60 + mark, could be a Wolves fan, we were the team, the team of the people.

As the song goes, "They can't take that way"

Are you sure about Bev Bevan? Always thought he was one of us? Just cos he gave them money in sponsorship doesn't make him a member of "the dark side". Ever heard of Tax write-offs?

I remember in the early 70s seeing a picture in the programme of Bevan holding a Wolves shirt .
God knows what game it was, I can barely remember last week let alone 30-odd years ago.

Eric Clapton is definatley an Albion fan, when he was The Frank Skinner show they spoke at length about it.

Eric Clapton is a Villa fan, when he was going out with Steph Beecham, my friend went to the league cup final with him at Wembley, he wore a Villa shirt that day. Also all of his roadies used to have to wear Villa tops so he could recognize them.

He's very definately a WBA fan.. admits it in his autobiography that I read years ago

Sounds akin to Collymore then. When he was at Vile he said he'd supported them all his life in spite of being seen at Molineux as a kid.

I think Collymore used to have a season ticket in the South Bank whilst playing for Liverpool.

So much so he recovered from the early disappointments in life to become an international rock star and a wolves fan - that's bouncebackability:D

No, my only point was that West Bromwich born, latterly Wolves fan, Robert Plant, is from West Bromwich. If Wolves fans want to claim people born in West Bromwich, aka 'in-breds', that's fine with me...

Its a broad church, you're welcome too, if you want to come over...
I can't guarantee celebrity fan status or the rock star bit though.

also - Robert Plant is not a celebrity, he's a fully fledged rock star the type of which shall never happen again. Jade Goody is a celebrity.

the word celebrity means 'to celebrate somebody. Robert Plant is celebratred as a talented musician so he is a celebrity. The word celebrity is used far too loosely these days i.e Jade Goody

Robert Plant moved to Halesowen at a very early age on the advice of social services, must have worked as he went to grammar school in Stourbridge.
