View Full Version : Team for Bray Game - Starting to shape up?

From Wolves site:
Wolves team: Murray, Edwards, Mulgrew, D. Ward, Breen, Potter, Jarvis, Henry, Keogh, Eastwood, S. Ward.

Is this a clue to MM's thinking? Good to see Murray is fit enough to play from the start. I'm assuming Edwards is RB....it looks like a 4-3-3 - surely not!? Maybe its Jarvis on the right and S Ward on the left.......With two defensive midfielders....

Now the bench is interesting:
Subs: Bothroyd, Gleeson, Little, Craddock, Hennessey, Olofinjana, N. Collins, Kightly, Jones, L. Collins, Mimms.

Its starting to look like we have some strength in depth. Last season quite often you looked at the bench and thought there was no-one there who could possibly change the game, but add Elliott into the mix and I reckon we have the strongest bench in years.

Anyway, would be great if any of the lads over there with a mobile could update us on the game....

One would think that Kightly would feature in a first-choice XI....

My tips to play the 90 minutes are Henry, Jarvis and Darren Ward.

Seems he is mixing up his partnerships in all aspects of the park. Giving each a go to see how they gell is good.

Yes, looks like Kightly won't start any games this season either.

Don't think & don't hope Potter/Henry will be our two central midfielders.

Too similar. I would imagine MM wants to make sure the players who have had injuries or not as fit get plenty of time on the pitch to ensure they are ready for the start of the season.
I would think the game on sunday would be more likely to be his first choice team. Although, that depends on players taking their chances.

0 - 0 at half time. Apparently they wasted a chance from 4 yards out when they blazed over the bar and Eastwood had a header from 3 yards out that the keeper stuck a foot out and diverted the ball for a corner.

Not a great report but better than nothing.

0-0 half time. Potter and Henry is not the answer apparently.
Two defensive midfielders are not the answer. Bring on Olof!

Eastwood with the biggest chance of the game.

Strange how much interest there is in a meaningless pre-season friendly.

We tried the Potter/Henry combination once last season and it doesn't work. It has to be Olo and one of the above..

LiveScore.com shows that we have just scored. No news of the scorer though! 65 mins played.

Bray are probably playing their reserves now as they have a league game on Friday against Galway.

Stroll in the park ...well that's how it felt and we could have stepped it up at any time during the game.

A tidy performance with Jay looking very sharp when he came on and scored a delightfull chip over the keeper, Kightly had a similar effort which hit the top of the bar bounced to saftey.

Still not at all convinced with either full back position even against a part time team who put us under no real threat all game they did look a little shakey and constatly backed off.

Cheers Bugsy, I'm particularly interested in how Mulgrew is shaping up....and also if L Collins looks like he has the ability to step up to the LB role if required?

Few pointers :

How the hell did Jay manage a 30 yard angled chip !!! ?

Breen got an hour on the park !

Good to see us sign a player with a decent haircut !
