That's why I added to my post.

But you do need to progress as a player and I hope that he does that.

Keith Andrews was young and raw. And now he's carp, IMO!!!!!!!

he's promising, and I'd rather see the club try and develop a player like Leon Clarke than blow five times that in wages on a player like Steffen Iversen who arrives unfit, is played unfit risking injury and subsequently loses confidence and leaves the club after a year.

the iversen and paul jones decisions were the most inept moments of the DJ reign - oh and bringing players back too early from serious injury andwatching them break down again

Good news, he's still young and has shown a lot of promise, he does
still have weak areas to his game as people have pointed out, but who
better to bring him through and try and unleash his full potential than
Hoddle. Bit of the hype has died down with Clarke now, but that
was always going to happen when people label him as the new bully so
early onsmileys/smiley32.gif. I still think
there's big things to come from Clarkie, just hope that he can keep up
with where the team is hopefully going and can improve as the team does.

He's a decent player, I'm sure if he was 1st choice at another CCC even now he'd get his fair share of goals. He's young and under Glenn he can improve, if he still doesn't make the grade we will be able to get a decent wedge for him.

Must say I'm a bit suprised on this one I personally don't think he will make the grade but if Hoddle sees something then I will be glad to be proved wrong.

Maybe when Vio and Ndah are fully fit he might benefit bya spell on loan somewhere.

I agree I would like to see some of his raw edges 'ironed' out. I would prefer this to happen in someone elses 1st team though by means of a loan.

The lads only 19 and hasn't played that many games at the 1st team level yet so here is still plenty of time for him to learn and improve. With GH as manager he will only get better IMV so this is good news as far as I'm concerned. Edited by: Essex Wolf

Would like to see him getting regular starts, even if that means going out on loan, once Ndah and Vio are fully fit he will struggle to make the bench, sure I hear that they planned a loan for him at some point.

I wouldnt be surprised if, when George and Vio are both judged fit enough to start90 minutes, we might see Leon go out on loan to another championship side or maybe a league one side. Think he'd do a great job for Walsall if they need to replace Fryatt with a loan player. Edited by: jim_boner

Hoddle has said in the past - that if clarke works hard over the next few years - he has a great future in the game. Thats good enough for me. Lets just hope he doesn't turn out like Proudlock.

Good to see Leon got a contract extension and i hope this season he can come out and prove me and everybody else wrong and have a good strong season with us though i struggle to see where he will fit in when Ganea and Ndah return.

vtg - Funny you should mention Proudlock - as I think Leon has reached the same cross-road of possibilities either to be maximised or wasted that Adam reached around three and half years ago. Like you mentionedI hope he dooes take the right road from here - with Hodd to coach and mentor he has a distinct advantage that Proudlock lacked.

Good luck Leon - he should prove a sound investment for the club...
