View Full Version : Moderator Superpowers
I mentioned this on the transfers thread, but I got shot to pieces bythread policeand old MM cliquees who ignored the content and told me I was off topic.
Late last night the OT: OT Forums thread show60ish votes for and 50ish against. I made a comment on it, and it was then responded to by invisible, and locked.
This morning No has an extra 50 votes, and Yes is the same. No literally doubled it votes overnight!
Could this bean incident where moderator superpowers have been used to influence fact and debate?

What actually happened was that you originally complained about a moderator daring to have an opinion that disagreed with yours, then changed topic when you were challenged.
No I split topic. Still on that, and started this.

So why haven't you answered the point made almost an hour ago on that thread?

Maybe you should call in the internet police son.
Maybe you should call in the internet police son.

Three points:
1, Technically it is possible for anyone with a bit of knowledge to fix a poll.
2, We don't have any further powers to enable us to fix polls, other than point 1.
3, Most importantly. Why would we bother?
So it didn't happen then?

No. The real internet police. The WWW consortium have a team of
undercover posters who carry out investigations into allegations of
poll rigging; they take it very seriously indeed.

I would agree that it appears that someone has influenced the poll. But if you read my points you will see that it didn't have to be a moderator, it could have been anyone.
The fact is that Invisibleman and bod have said no to an OT forum. Since it is their ball, they don't have to justify their decision to anyone. Why then waste time rigging the poll?
Dr M, you are a very funny poster indeed.

I am aware of a number of security vulnerabilities in Web Wiz Forums, but only oneis known to exist in a fully patched 7.92
By far the most likely way to change the poll statistics is to have edited the content database directly using T-SQL or similar. I strongly suspect that is what has happened here, and it does not depend on capabilities of the WWF software.
Why would they do it? You tell me. It very much looks like someone has, and as you say Why then waste time rigging the poll? Quite odd ....
Liquidator.
As you seem to have real problem with this board i suggest the following. Go out out and set up your own message board for like minded individuals. Then you can keep posting and complaining about all you like.
For someone who doesn't like OT topics on her you are becoming a main contributer to them. In fact i rarely see you post on many wolves related threads.
So for now just accept that you aren't going to get your own way.

Something a bit funny does seem to have gone on with the poll, and people seem to be making personal attacks on me, while ignoring the subject.
So for now just accept that you aren't going to get your own way.
I accept that now. I also accept that I have been a bit of a pain in the neck, apologise and will tone it down.

Only a bit though. Still need those 'probing' questions now and again,
just to keep 'people' on their 'toes' and encourage a little debate,
and thought, on both related and non-related happenings of an ordinary,
or extraordinary, nature.
Come on you Wolves... don't dilly dally about.
