To all those out there praying for the big signing or bemoaning the fact that we are not prepared to shell out the extra 500k on this or that player, please bear in mind that for the first time in god knows how many years we are following a strategy/tactic/plan etc and that is based on a team ethic, no prima donnas and no one on significantly different wages to one another and a bias ( i would guess) towards rewards being based on team performance as well as individual. With that in mind the signings to date have been entirely consistant with that approach and would lead me to expect no spotlight players to arrive this season. Charlton have expressed an interest in Eastwood - they have the funds - they will be prepared to pay him personally more than Wolves would want to and he can stay local. Face it folks he aint coming here and I'm not sure I would want him and prefer the thought of some young loan signings and more in the Jarvis et al mode...so no pant wetting for me how about the rest of you....? :)

I doubt Eastwood is on as much as the current top earners in our new breed, as his last contract was signed when they bought him in League One.
No reason we couldn't offer him a wage increase that doesn't break our wage ceiling.

I pretty much agree with what you're saying there. The goals can come from strikers, attackers, midfielders, defenders, anywhere as long as they come. We were scoring more towards the end of last season, but, we were still leaking them at the other end. Darren Ward made the point in his interview that the sides who do well in this league are the ones who keep clean sheets!

Agreed m8 but the point is Charlton would in all likehood offer more to the club and pay him more - their need is (arguably) greater than ours

unfortunately, there is a lot more to consider beyond the transfer fee ..personal terms, the area, the family ..etc

I don't know him but i doubt very much Eastwood is a big time money grabbing charlie. I don't think he's the type to be swayed by a few grand, i think he'll be thinking of his career and the potential to get into the Premiership and maybe the England team.
