It is slow when you start by making silly offers of 750k for players that are obviously worth more than twice that amount, in the process allowing other clubs to muscle in and complicate the situation....

Is it slow??? How many teams have all their targets signed before pre-season begins? We don't know what's going on behind the scenes and could have a couple of deals almost complete... Just because the E&S doesn't report it, doesn't mean we aren't close! The Jarvis signing for example.

Didn't take Mick long last year did it? I thought he came in 12 days before the season started and ended up buying/begging/loaning several players quickly.
Perhaps this season he is just taking longer because he is after better and fewer players.
Trust him! I certainly do after his first 12 months.

I hope that Darren turns out to be one of those " fell out with boss at last club and got a point to prove" type of players.
BTW - the club is going downhill rapidly, we have a Wayne and a Darren playing for us.

Not seen a great deal of him in action if I'm honest - If I've saw games against his clubs then I've failed to notice him. Will definately give him 5-6 games before passing any judgement on the player as whole, but regardless, positive news that we have signed a defender.

we have 2 players in now, hopefully by the end of the week will have a striker and a left back in as well. Then i will be happy. I still think all this faffing around has cost us sharp, if we dont pull our finger out we will lose freddy too. Then who will score all our goals.

I'll reserve judgement for now.
Not the pacey defender I thought we needed, but experience can give you an extra couple of yards. Collins and Ward should be a good enough pairing for this league. Just need to strengthen the full back posistions and we should be solid at the back.

This is a good signing IMO - and he is still relatively young (26 i think???) - i know a couple of palace fans who have text me this morning to say they are gutted. One says he is a player who reads the game as well as anybody he's seen - good in the air - "you've got a steal if it's for less than 1.5M" - he's a season ticket holder - so i'm happy with the signing - lets all see what he's like when he's played a few games though before we start knocking the bloke eh? ;)

If we had a striker that we Knew was hot property and several clubs were interested in we would lynch Moxey if he sold him to the first club to meet our valuation. A few of understand this, but a good majority truly believe Moxey is swimming around in a room full of notes (approximately £30m worth) and is deciding not spend it because he wants to **** off the Wolves fans and save all of the money for his big bonus.

Don't be daft, Moxey had nothing to do with Ward, Keough, Kightly etc signing, that's Mick's department.
Sharp was Moxey's business and should we end up not signing Eastwood then that will be his doing as well, unless Eastwood does sign, then it will be back to Mick again.

Moxey & MM have a transfer budget... This means they can't spend over a set amount! Do you know what the budget is??? Though not.
Do you understand MM and his staff have identified targets in different positions because we are trying to strengthen the TEAM, not just sign a striker and therefore cannot spend it all on this position? Eastwood is likely on fairly low wages as he signed for Southend from Grays Athletic in 2004 when Southend were a League One club. I doubt he'd be on more than 2k per week absolute max.

On an optimistic note, Ward is often described as "no nonsense" "tough tackling" ( probably in the mould of MM himself?) and a player that might just inject a little bit of fear into the odd nervous type which must be to the good. He may turn out to be a leader type who rallies the troops when the chips are down.

That misses the point Vis. I merely said that he "might" turn out to be medicre in response to the possibility of him being a good buy. I wasn't expressing a viewpoint just pointing out the possibility. And I think Kightly and Grays was somewhat different, £25k for Kightly is vastly different to the reported £500k for Ward.
