View Full Version : Hello all.
Hiya, My name is Ashley Dolan, from Chester and you may or may not have noticed that my dad was Sean Dolan, who died over in Afghanistan on saturday.
I'm not here for sympathy, but to ask a question, does the site have an 11 a side team?
I ask this simply as I would want to challenge this team to a Game in a a later date, as me and my dad were avid wolves fans, and although i play for a chester supporters team (no wolves supporters teams up here:p) I think he would like us to do that.
I always look on this site anyway so you can post comments on here, or email me on ashD_05@hotmail.co.uk.
Thank you for you're time to read this.
Ash Dolan
Ashley, I'm very sorry for your loss.
You'll find that your initial posts are pre-moderated, so won't appear immediately. Please think carefully as to how much personal info you make available on the forum.
I see, but it's just so people know etc

My father, who I was very close to, died suddenly (at least to me, I thought cancer was easily beatable) when I was 12. All I will say is that if you are anything like me you will get over it in the next couple of months but in my case I have always had a sense of regret that others I guess dont have. As I said to a mate who's father died when he was 18 its alot harsher then you probably thought it would be.
I hope you don't mind me posting this link and if not deemed necessary, then admin please remove it, but I think people should know that your father sounds like he was an incredible man who followed the Wolves, one of our own. I'm sure you shouldn't have any trouble sorting this request out here. I'm very sorry, it's always a very sad time to lose a loved one.

Sympathies Ashley, you must be very proud of your Dad, reading those heartfelt comments, though it makes your loss hurt more. I bet the lads will be able to put a team together, not sure of the quality mind. ;)
if mod's want to keep it then good stuff,
i wouldnt want it deleting personally.
As a former Army Captain, I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to you and your family. Your father was obviously a man to be most deeply proud of - he was evidently an inspiration to his colleagues and should be to us all.
The British Army has lost one of it's best.
As another ex serviceman and a Dolan on my mothers side. I would like also to extend my deepest sympathy to you and your family.
I would encourage everyone to read through the link. The country has lost a fine man.

Deepest condolences to you Ash - I used to live in Chester and still wish I did, one of the best places in the country imo.
No idea if there is a team from MM, but if it did get cobbled together I'm sure the challenge would be accepted.

Ashley I lost my father this year and though I am older in years than yourself there is never a good time for this so I feel your pain and sadness.
Your father seemed courageous and a man of honour and you should be very proud of him. Achieve what you can in your life and you know more than anyone how proud he will be of you.
A sad loss to you and your mother, his family and friends and his fellow soldiers. He is what makes this country great and Wolves should be proud to be associated with him.
My respect and best wishes at this time go out to you.
Deepest sympathies Ashley. Be assured that those testimonies from his fellow soldiers in the regiment will be heartfelt and honest. Only the best soldiers will have served as RSM, so you know your father will have been brilliant at what he chose to do with his life. I'm sure he will be proud of you whatever you do with your life.

Ashley, my father is in the army, and any stories such as these are always close to home and I am incredibly sorry to hear of your loss. Any man that serves his country as diligently as your father deserves all of the respect that he has attained. After an event like this, particularly given the fact that your father was a fellow Wolves fan... "one of us", I am always drawn to the speech from Shakespear's Henry V:
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.
My thoughts are with you and your family.

As a serving member of the RAF, I am only too aware of what is happening over "there", so my deepest sincere condolences are with you and your family. He will be repaatriated at the unit where I am serving, and as he is brought home, there will be at least 4 Wolves fans pausing for thought that day.
RIP Sir
Ex-Forces here as well Ash. It always astounded me while I was serving and through the deaths of my father and mother also, how the life of somebody so awe-inspiring and seemingly invincible can end up being so fragile. Stay strong and please accept the condolences of my family and myself.

Intial discussions have taken place. Hopefully a venue can be found and the game to be played on August 5th (Sunday)

Now I have gone for a long shot on the venue but I hope Wolves can provide. I have emailed the club asking if the game can be played on the Training Ground pitch.
I know Wolves are reluctant for the place to be used in such a manner but I hope they find a way to go along with this.
So Mr Moxey or Mr Cain, please try and help.

Good luck with that. I don't think Wolves will go for it though if i'm honest. You could always hire one of the all weather jobs on Aldersley. I don't think they're too expensive.

im another ex serviceman, RAOC, deepest sympathies to you and your family ashley. there seems enough ex servicemen on here to form a football team.
RSM's were always feared but respected too, SIR!
IS there any chance we could have a quick 5 min kick around during one half time at the mol, or maybe a penalty competition in honour of your dad?
Please accept my condolences, yet another fine soldiers life ended so tragically early. You have every reason to be very very proud of your Dad.
