With the E&S reporting that Eastwood will be our first signing next week, do you think the Sharp deal is dead in the water or, as reported, will we sign both?

Why 2 centre backs? I thought Collins and Edwards looked really solid. We also have Breen and Craddock as backup.

Good value at £1.25m IMO, about the right price for him

would attract more media interest and a PR coup if Morgan unveils a couple of exciting signings on his official first day in office

If that's what he'd bring then i'm more than happy, his 2 goals at Derby were superb (i think it was derby anyway).

According to the E&S though, the bid's been accepted and it's Eastwood's choice between us and Norwich.

Let's hope he's not a fan of cookery books

It is a solid signing-and I am all for it.
The deal as reported is 1,25 mill+250K.Don“t know if there are more add ons to that..still a good deal of business IMO.
Eastwood seems to be on par with Sharp as a goalscorer, and Eastwood seems a more complete footballer overall than Sharp.
The price then makes THIS our best striker signing for the preseason to crucial 07/08.
Welcome to Wolves Freddy, you have signed to the best club in the world!
Good times ahead I hope..long overdue.

Bearing in mind our opening bid was 750k and the new bid is likely to be 1.25m-1.5m,why would Blues just come in and offer almost double that amount?

What a load of $$$$$$$$.

kidder_wolf_II
15-06-2007, 21:58
He also claims that the new owners will be announced on monday along with eastwood which seems very unlikely as Gold has said he doesnt expect the club to change hands and he will still be in charge come the start of the season.

Sounds like $$$$$$$$ to me

Half the price of Sharp, 23 years old, coveted by other clubs and generally regarded as one of the better forwards outside of the Premier League.

If Moxey had stuck to the bid of £750k, would you have applauded the move?

No. But offering more than the other interested clubs does not prove that he is excellent at negotiation skills.

Have any Premier clubs made an offer?

Deutsch Wolf
16-06-2007, 01:23
Not as far as I'm aware. Do they have to in order for Jez to be a good negotiator? Compared to the overpriced Sharp and Varney, it'd be a good deal. 31 year old Jamie Cureton would cost £750k! Only a week ago Southend's chairman was saying that Eastwood wasn't for sale, now according to this report he's ours for £1.25m. Has to be a good deal.

Incidentally, I'm reserving judgement about the whole "deal accepted" thing, all we have so far to back it up is the Guess and Star's backpage (featuring a mention of Billy SharpE, FFS) and some borderline illiterate on a Southend forum.
