Since when were bank balances and fitness/stamina levels connected. I'd go home just as tired if I earned thrice as much as my current salary.

That is not the point.
You do not moan about anything when getting paid 70K a week...period.
You do get to moan when slaving away at a factory for close to minimum wage though. One of the very few priveliges that comes with that I recon.
If you get 70K a week playing football..and all the other priveliges that comes with it,then just shut up!!

I'd love to know what it's like to get a payslip mfor that much...Imagining tearing the little perferation back and revealing 'Gross Pay - per month - £303 333'....when you put it like this it is obscene

Agree.
I get sick of hearing commentators saying of course the players are all a bit tired as this is their third game in a week or he's obviously feeling the effects of a long season!.
I know the tempo of modern games is higher but most clubs relax training when the schedule is more than normal so how can they be tired unless their social life is effecting their stamina. A club pays for their skill as players and also their fitness.
I can remember playing 90 minutes of football after a few lunch time pints on a Sunday, it may not have been entertaining to watch but with a £1 a goal bonus I would run all day and worry about the consequences afterwards.

No, i'd rather have Seff U in our division than Egg head's mob.

Emporer Wolf - I'm not defending the amount of money footballers earn at all, merely pointing out that just because you earn a lot of money you should still have as much right to moan as anybody else. Your example was of two extremes, and emotive as it was, proved nothing. If you're tired, you're tired - and that's down to how hard you work, not how much you earn.

Slightly OT - I do believe, however, that professional footballers should be fined if they miss the target from the penalty spot or can't get a corner past the first man. Again though - that stands for League Two journeyman and Michael Ballack

Have seen them for Liverpool players late 90's and early 00's. They just didn't seem real.

Fans pay the players wages and please don't say t.v. contracts pay them. They wouldn't show the games if people didn't watch it and nobody wants to watch a game in an empty stadium.
Out of respect to the fans, who generally are aren't as lucky in terms of lifestyle/money the should treat the position their in with gratitude.
They owe the paying fans some work ethic at the very least.

If Albion v Wolves was behind closed doors but on the tele, I'd watch it.

Try not making sweeping statements that don't stand up to scrutiny then.

If Sky put live Premiership games on the t.v. and there were hardly any fans in the ground, the atmosphere would be non-existent and the viewing figures would crash. If your stubborn mind can work that out John. Your Mrs must be really placid or she just ignores you, or more than likely left you.

the viewing figures would crash. .
Your view. IMO it's $$$$. Chelsea v Arsenal, Man Utd V Liverpool etc, the "atmosphere" etc has nothing to do with how many people would watch.

sorry mate but however much you want to believe it ..it just aint so the TV revenue with the new 4 year deal now provides the bulk of the income stream for all the premiership clubs (with poss exception of MU who can get 70k for a home match) Look at Wigan with 17/20k average or Bolton Blackburn in the 20/23k bracket. The simple fact is that if you looked at their revenue forecasts TV is the biggie end of story. As I said on a thread a few months ago it is likely that some clubs in the Premiership will be cheaper to watch (they can afford it) than most of the clubs in the CC who really need the gate revenue to make the sums work. :(

Was gonna say, Lentini was a bit special till his accident. Probably worth about 30m in today's market.

I'm not sure that at some clubs the fans CAN pay the player's wages. Look at West Ham, paying Neill, Parker and now offering Bent 70k+ per week. What's their capacity? about 35000? at an average of 35 quid a ticket (that's a rough guess, feel free to correct me!!:D), that's only gonna bring in about 23m over the season and just 3 players out of the entire squad of 20-odd will be taking home nearly half that.

Telly's to blame. Us as fans shouldn't have to pay as much as we are but it'll be a long and tough process to get us paying what we realistically should. Wasn't it in the news the other day, a season ticket at Barca, 100 quid? Now that's value for money

Im not arguing that tv money is the bulk of revenue thses days. Im telling you, T.V. companies won't pay money to broadcast games with no fans in the ground. end of.
