The former Wolves defender, who joined Everton for £5m a year ago, has had the best season of his career, culminating in an England B cap in last night’s 3-1 win over Albania.
Lescott was sweating on selection for the full squad announced this lunch-time for Friday’s friendly against Brazil followed by the Euro 2008 qualifier against Estonia.
He still follows Wolves’ progress eagerly, and has watched the week’s events with interest.
Boosted by Morgan’s investment, the 23-year-old believes his old club are ready to make a sustained push for the Premiership next time after losing in the play-off semi-finals.
“It wasn’t to be this season, but they have done exceptionally well and hopefully next season they can push on and get there,” said Lescott.
“I speak to Matt Murray two or three times a week and it’s always a good sign when they’re doing well. I wish them all the best next season.
“Going up through the play-offs is a nice way to go up, but if you don’t quite make it, it’s heartbreaking.
“Automatic promotion would be ideal for Wolves.
“Last season the fans accepted the club wasn’t going to be pushing for automatic promotion and they did exceptionally well anyway. So if the money is going to be there, then who knows what they can achieve?
“It’s not going to be easy, but if they can all gel together and remain a good squad, then who knows?”
Lescott, who replaced Reading’s Nicky Shorey at left-back in the 74th minute, says England B recognition was reward for the coaches who helped him at Wolves.
