This is what i feel about next season. All i want us to do as a club is sign the right players for once, ignore and dont worry about what everyone else in football is doing and lets get on with the pre-season with everything intact BEFORE they all come back for once, or as near to it as possible and for everyone at the club to be united . Then i think we have a great chance of a top two finish.

spot on. Lets get it sorted early but the wider question is what do we actually need to win this league?

If we had not been taken over we would have had a moderate budget of on more than £1m generated from a bit better season tickets big wage savings and a litte bit from the play offs. Had that been the case we would have seen lower league players like the lad from Cheltenham or maybe the odd £200 - £500 signing with the lad from stockport the sort of signing I was expecting. Now would that have been enough to finish second? well with the relegated clubs having significant resources my guess is no, we would be in the lottery of the play offs again.

Now with Morgans money we have a chance but what the absolutle minimum needed to finish second? The key for me is pace and strength in depth. We need two top goal scorers, we need a better left winger than Macindoe and we need real competition for Kightly. Then of course there is the defence.

If Morgan came to you and said OK you have £5m I want 2nd place at least what would you do if you were MM?

If I was Big Mick I'd say there is no guarantee in football, but £4-5M would help to improve the present team and probably get into the top six.

Even more important, after that, I'd say can you have some more money available January to allow for injuries and loss of form. Which could mean the difference between promotion and missing out again!

There will several teams in the Championship next season with as much, or even more, money than us. The richer clubs are going to be near the top of the league and we should be amongst them. Apart from the money aspect, the teams with the best / luckiest! managers will get promoted.......same as always really!

If we do the right things we have an advantage over the teams that have come down as we have the basis of a good team and we have team spirit already in place. All the teams coming down will probably lose 2 key players from their squads. We will be adding to ours.

Lets just hope the signings are in place for the beginning of pre-season training in July. We even have an extra week this year as the season starts a week later.

No real excuses for them not to be but the last thing we need is panic buying again.

I had a hideous dream last night where the new owner sacked Mick and brought in this man who was a hybrid of Ruud Gullit and Harry Redknapp. Very bizarre, it's thrown me off course all day long.

So, provided THAT doesn't happen, pre-season is off to a good start for me.

Well put. I think we'd have challenged for top 6 next season with the squad we've got now. A couple of additions and we can give it that extra push. One thing i hope, MM would've already had his shopping list, 1st choices, 2nd choices etc. I hope he doesn't change his shopping list, but now maybe he has the means to buy a few more of the 1st choices as opposed to having to resort to the 2nd or 3rd choice

Does anyone actually think that MM will change his spending policy and start paying over the odds for players?

MM knows a bargain and he will have identified players who will be able to handle being in the top two of the championship. Only because he has money doesnt mean he will waste it...

Id rather he go for bargins and have more money for the premiership?

Many of the players MM will be going for are going to have other suitors. The only way to be sure of getting players in early is to pay over the odds and I don't think that is MM or Moxey's style.

We might lose out on some targets for whatever reason, other targets might not move on until the selling club has identified a replacement.

There is no rush.

We are going to be a tad behind schedule me thinks......for a start the whole Morgan deal wont be finalised for another week or so and also , due to the new investment, original transfer targets may be pushed to one side for a clean slate of " younger and hungrier" ;) players

With the form of Derby and Birmingham in between. We got 76 points this season and as we know there were games where we could have got more. 86 points gained automatic promotion. That's 4 draws where we lost and three wins where we drew.
With players fully fit, new additions improving squad, we can hit the ground running in August and anything is possible.

There were matches we lost that we should of won and there matches we got something when in truth we were murdered. There is no saying we will perform as well next season. Teams will have a better idea how to handle Kightly and Keogh this time roond.

even we a host of new players there is no saying we will perform any better. Mick and the players have a big responsility to get on with it

You are right to say that. The supposed improvement in the quality of the first team squad may be equalled by the knowledge teams in the division may now have of us.

Still- imagine if we had been unable to improve the squad at all this summer...

Therefore, this takeover only can be a positive.

I dont agree that the current squad is good enough for a top 6 finish. As people have said Keogh and Kightly will be better marked next year and our defense will be another year slower. We need to spend about abit to stay as we are and even more to challenge for the top 2 slots.
We have had a great season better than we could have hoped but with a lot of sides its how they do the second season that realy counts, I will ask you all to look at west ham and wigan to prove my point.

Automatic promotion was there to be had this season, Derby, leicester, Sunderland Birmingham and palace at Home and daft results like hull and barnsley away.

Infact if you look at it like that those five games at home would of done it
