Wolves’ fans have snatched a Cradley Heath Baggies’ supporter’s lucky mascot doll in a dastardly plot and bombarded him with texts telling him what terrible fate could befall it. Their threats are backed up with pictures of the doll being held captive outside the Molineux.
Gary Priest was left frantic with worry when the doll, called Bob Taylor in homage to the Hawthorns’ hero, was stolen at his birthday party last Saturday.
And with just three days to go before Bank Holiday Monday’s clash with Derby County at the new Wembley Stadium, the sportswear retailer is keeping everything crossed Bob Taylor is back in time for the big day.
The doll was knitted for the Albion-mad 40-year-old by his wife in 1993. Over the last 14 years, Bob Taylor has accompanied Gary and his friends to all of Albion’s big games and has never seen them lose when he has been there.
Gary said he was “distraught” at the kidnapping and appealed to the captors to return him back home in time for Monday.
“Bob Taylor’s got to back for Monday because Albion have never lost when he’s been at a game,” he said.
“I’m absolutely distraught and we’ve got the SAS on the trail to try and track him down. I haven’t been able to sleep with worry since. Aren’t there any depths they won’t sink to?”
