The £2m-rated forward is going on holiday this week and is adamant he won’t make a snap judgement on which club he’ll play for next season.
That may suit boss Mick McCarthy, who is working on a list of targets after being given the green light by new owner Steve Morgan to strengthen his squad.
Wolves have a long-standing interest in the 21-year-old – but are re-assessing their transfer priorities after Morgan’s £30m$ takeover earlier this week.<span class="Apple-converted-space" />
Sheffield Wednesday have already made a £1.5m bid, but Sharp wants to wait before making a decision.
“I’ve had enough about all the talk, to be honest, and just want to go away on my holidays,” he said.
“I keep hearing this club and that club are interested, but I’ve not even had a chance to consider my new contract offer from Scunthorpe.”
Sharp has been offered a lucrative two-year-deal by the Iron, but sources in Scunthorpe have indicated he will listen to other offers.$
If McCarthy steps up his interest Wolves could be in a strong position. The former Sheffield United trainee formed a lethal partnership with Andy Keogh when they were paired together at Scunthorpe – and were also close friends off the pitch.
The League One golden boot winner – who hit an impressive 32 goals last season – wants to talk to his parents before giving an answer.
“It’s really flattering to hear clubs are interested, but I’ve not sat down with my mum and dad yet to talk about Scunthorpe’s new offer,” he said.
“I still had a year to run on my contract, but they have scrapped that and offered me another two years. I’ll go away and decide what’s going to happen when I come back. It’s great that clubs are interested and if the right club comes in I’d like to speak to them.”
