View Full Version : Banner for Wednesday Night

Any chance someone can knock up a huge "YOU'VE MADE US PROUD AGAIN" banner for Wednesday night?! I am sick of the media and other fans constantly reminding us about that banner against Norwich in the playoffs. It would be great to see that come a win or a loss on Wednesday night.

I was thinking of posting this, would be good if we could have some kind of banner saying whatever happens..we're proud.

Please somebody??

I would do it, but i wouldn't have a clue how to...

Jeez. The players have done a decent job given the circumstances but some of the 'look at us, we're a poor little club' cr@p is really getting on my nerves.

These players get paid quite well to do something they clearly enjoy. They should be thanking us not the other way round. If such a banner is made it should be given to the players so they can parade around the pitch thanking the supporters who have had to put up with a pile of poo for the last couple of years and who STILL turn up week in week out.

Well done and all that but please let's not embarress ourselves anymore. We are Wolves and WEAMABIGCLUB

If you get the wembley thing done then don't $$$$ing hold it up until after the final whistle if we manage to win! Exactly the sort of thing that comes back to bite you in the arse. I'm all for the 'You've made us proud again' banner though, this year has restored my love of football after that $$$$$$ Hoddle almost ruined it for me.

Its sad that there are still people out there who don't seem to grasp that this season has been more than about making the play-offs, and that this squad is more than the sum of its parts. For the hell of it I'll spell out what I think you're missing.

This year, this team, this whole squad, this manager have given us back our club. For too long supporting our club has been hard work, going to Molineux hasn't been much fun, and pride was something we dreamt of. For too long we've paid a bunch of has-beens and mercenaries (with notable exceptions) a great deal of money to under-deliver. For too long, we've screamed for more passion from the team and we haven't got it.

This year, for all our lack of quality, for all our bargain basement shopping, for all the inadequacies that we have suffered, we have played with pride, with passion, with commitment, with flair, with excitement and, as the year and team has progressed with some pretty impressive skill.

We are now a good team. Not yet a great team, but we're well on the way. We have spirit. Real spirit. The fans are backing the team consistently and so vocally that I don't think I can remember a similar feeling at games in all the time I've been going. The club is united (well mostly). Going to the Mol is a real pleasure. We are being entertained, let there be no doubt. These players are outperforming week in week out. They have done us proud, and they deserve our thanks.

For what it's worth, I agree with you. We have a good, hardworking and more importantly honest team for the first time in a few years. In an ideal world that should be a given before we even start and it's tantamount to the $$$$e Wolves supporters have had to put up with that people are even thinking of making a banner of this type.

Thanks for this post. An excellent idea. Seeing the banner at Norwich all over the papers actually hurt. I couldn't have been the only one to taken the scorn from fans of other teams and not had a leg to stand on. A shameful thing to do.

Would be great if you really could get a banner done. If we do lose Albion would enjoy nothing more than us lot to be standing there all quiet and miserable but a big banner like that and wall to wall singing would at least feel like we have got something out of the night. That said, I expect us to win.

Not sure about getting the other side printed but it would be quite funny if we were drawing and then score a 90th minute winner to put us into extra time, I'm sure a quick flip over of the banner to WEMBLEY HERE WE COME would wind up the natives no end

We have done nothing yet and failing this season in the play offs does not mean we will get promoted next season. If we do fail on wednesday and going out will be a failure, then how proud will people be stuck in mid table next season with Breen at the centre of defence, no McNamara, no Murray and our hopes and dreams pinned on another bunch of free transfers.

The players have done well, in fact as many state they have over achieved, I'm not so sure they will do it two seasons running.

As they say Pride comes before a fall.

If they play with the effort displayed all this season, then I'd be very proud of them. If Edwards, Collins and Craddock are fit, and we have signed two full backs then I don't expect to see Breen in the team. Murray will be back for the start of the season, and JM will not be a great loss if we can get somebody steady. Kightly and Keogh going nowhere, Olo and Potter still here. Macca here. I see nothing not to be proud of.

There is sense in what you say Stewarton but (and this is not a criticism, just a different view point), sometimes you have to live in, and enjoy, the here and now.

There will be no end to the story that is Wolves and we could think forever that we might not be any good next year. At the moment, we are going in the right direction, and right now, I feel proud of the team. Express it and enjoy it.

Optimism or pessimism amongst us as individuals or as a group of supporters wont effect next season in the slightest. You may as well enjoy it because as you say, you never know how long the feeling will last.

Yes - but if we are stuck in this hell-hole of a division for another season, we have to do it all again next year. The only reason we are feeling good about the team is that Hoddle and Hayward combined to lower our expectations so much that anything other than relegation was going to be an achievement. MM and the team he's cobbled together have been a breath of fresh of air. How about a bannner saying Proud of the Team - Ashamed of the Board.

For me they have made me proud because of the effort they have shown. If we are in this league next year and show the same level of effort and commitment week in week out, we WILL win alot of games. If we are sitting mid table, then we will have been very unlucky.

Did you not see the Derby game last night?? With them all goading the Southampton fans at the end?? Well, if we go out to them tonight, imagine that, times 100?? Its going to be the most BITTER of pills. At least in the choke season there was a 100 miles between us which made it a little easier to swallow. From my point of you we need every possible dribblet for a big win tonight and as you wrote - it might spur boys onto victory. So my choice is show it at the start, definitely! The idea of the banner is surely to let the players know that we are proud no matter what the outcome, to keep their chin's up and to show we are all united and be back again next season if we fail..... In other words cushion the blow!

I wouldn't want the players to know before the game starts that defeat would be accepted..... Failure at this point shouldn't be entering their thoughts IMO! ;)

The idea of the banner is surely to let the players know that we are proud no matter what the outcome, to keep their chin's up and to show we are all united and be back again next season if we fail..... In other words cushion the blow!

I wouldn't want the players to know before the game starts that defeat would be accepted..... Failure at this point shouldn't be entering their thoughts IMO! ;)

Although Iīm still behind my first verdict because when I see the banner I feel standing hair on my back from the power of this message, I know and understand what youīre thinking about and there could be surely many opinions about it. But... As you also wrote "in other words cushion the blow"... And thatīs the point. We need only positive energy and believe, no thoughts about possible defeat. In other words it could be taken as a fantastic response from the excellent Wolvesī fans after last match where we surely didnīt deserve lost it. And I think we need to be strong and united as much as possible before the kick-off, not on the holidays after the final whistle...;). But as I said, there could be many opinions about it and this one is only what I feel.

At any rate, everything crossed, COME ON ME BABBIES!!!

show it definately as the players run out, not only to show our players how we feel - but also great for the Albion players to see how the team and fans are in it together. Its team spirit thats gonna win it tonight and we've got that in spades, just nice to remind the Albion of that!! I'm gonna hang round as long as I can at the end, whatever the outcome, and keep the singing going - it'll be hard but will definately take the gloss off if the Albion win. Plus, we want the players to leave tonight itching to play infront of us again and excited about the start of next season...

top banner!

definately show it as the players run out, not only will it give the players a lift in a pretty hostile environment, but will prove to them we're in it together. Also great for the Albion players and fans to see, team spirit very often gets you through the play-offs and we've got that in spades - no harm in reminding the Albion of that. Also, I'm going to stay as long as I can after, regardless of the result. It'd be great if the Wolves fans were still there chanting and singing long after the Albion fans had gone. Would definately take the shine off if they won and we want the players to leave tonight itching to play in front of us again and get stuck in straight away next season....

I'm more excited about watching the Wolves than I can ever remember being!!!

Watching on Sky, I thought I saw it half-held up in the second half - did I miss it other than that?

I changed my seat so I could be with the other London Wolves. We had 2 rows together right by the Boggie fans.

We lifted it up above our heads when the players came out which was good. We lifted it again towards the end of the game but people behind us started complaining they couldn't see.

Would have liked the players to have come over to wolves fans at the end but the boggies pitch invasion stopped that :(

Very gutted about last night, I'm watching the Sky recording at the moment.

I gave the banner away to a young London Wolves lad.
