anyone know any good boozers in or around basra that are showing the game?

I've rung my local but the landlord says he doesn't have Sky Sports. I reckon I might have to get a taxi to Nasirayah:eek: , but would rather stay local.

The point is, I came up with a few quips then realised that there are people who post on this board who one way or another have been involved out there and have suffered because of it. I chose not to post those quips because it might be upsetting for those people, I then went to the next phase and thought it is not just our people that are being blown to smithereans and what would the parents or relatives of those people feel.
So I think the point is IMO, have a joke but remember whether you are laughing with them or at them..
If that picture offends you then I apologise but welcome to the real uncensored world that you do not see on the news..
I have had to think whether to post this reply and not being an academic I do not know what the correct answer is..right or wrong I do not know...

Sorry just came back to hotel from drinking in Wolvo. So my thinking might not be very straight, but why on earth do people think it is funny to make a joke out of a place where people are being killed on a daily basis?

it was a joke about the amount of "pubs in..." threads appearing yesterday. Not about the war in Iraq, it is possible to mention a city without taking the $$$$ out of it. The joke (light hearted as it was) was on the people posting the pubs threads, not on Iraqis, so stop taking offence on other people's behalf. I can't believe how many of the morality brigade come riding in on their high horses as soon as someone mentions the name of a town in a war zone.
