21-04-2007, 17:01
Don't think that set of results is too bad at all to be honest. But as the cliche goes, we just have to concentrate on our own games and win those then it doesn't matter what everyone else does.

I thought we'd be 7th today, so well happy with the hull result. Had a feeling leeds might win though. It's going down to the wire chaps!

MobNet Wolf
21-04-2007, 17:06
I think a win and 2 draws will see us safe now.

That would mean mathematically the others below us would have to win both their remaining matches. And even if they did that, it would probably be Albion/Preston they would take over.

5150
21-04-2007, 17:07
Taking a look at the table (again) ...it appears that MM was right in stating that the point gained at Palace was indeed precious !

Hatch End Wolf
21-04-2007, 17:07
A draw tomorrow wouldn't be a disaster and is the most likely result in my opinion. Of course we then have to beat QPR! but if we do we might only need a draw at Leicester.

Gratters
21-04-2007, 17:08
If we lose its not.

Incorrect - if we lose tomorrow it IS still all in our own hands - ie we win last 2 we are in playoffs - simple.

3 points between 4th & 10th with 2/3 games to go! You can't say this league's not exciting this year.

Screw your courage to the sticking place and we'll not fail.

Tarcisio Mifsud
21-04-2007, 17:13
A lot of good/bad results. The Preston and Stoke matches had very good results for Wolves and we managed to keep in the play-offs places inspite that we were not playing so whatever the result is tomorrow Wolves would still remain in the play-offs.

But the results of Colchester and Southampton confirm that the play-off place is not yet secured, as these two teams have moved further near. The 3 points taken by Leicester and the loss of Leeds, have ensure the former would surely not be relegated and can breath freely when we visit them on the last day of the league on Sunday 6th May.

Still let us just focus on tomorrow's match, if we take the 3 points Wolves would move to 4th place and that would be great, as more or less the play off place would be secured and Birmingham would still be in the running for an automatic place even if they lose to Wolves tomorrow following Sunderland's defeat today.

Toon Wolf
21-04-2007, 17:14
Taking a look at the table (again) ...it appears that MM was right in stating that the point gained at Palace was indeed precious !

Absolutely, though there were some idiots on here who were criticising McCarthy for the fact that we didn't win even with 10 men!

5150
21-04-2007, 17:17
Amazing to think that single point is the difference between us having a chance and being 10th !

London Wolves
21-04-2007, 17:21
I didn't think we would be still be 6th today. If we win tomorrow we will be 4th :)

Superb Fox win. It's all in our hands. The players were relaxed and confident yesterday.

Big Mack
21-04-2007, 17:21
Another factor might be if we win tomorrow it'll increase the pressure on Albion to win on Monday.

Wardrobe_Wolf
21-04-2007, 17:22
But the results of Colchester and Southampton confirm that the play-off place is not yet secured, as these two teams have moved further near.

I'm not bothered about these results. These teams are behind us in the league with an extra game played. If we bottle it and allow them in, we aren't good enough to go up (obviously).

The most important thing today was Stoke not winning as they couldve tampered with our position and take it out of our hands.

3 games left, still in our hands. A win tomorrow and we're fourth. And with QPR safe and Leicester nearly safe, it should (hopefully) make for an easier last 2 fixtures.

A good day indeed!

Powelly
21-04-2007, 17:23

molineux man
21-04-2007, 17:29
Stoke and Colchester play each other next game, so that should eliminate one more team.

Never mind about the point against Palace, what about the point against Sheff Weds?? Without that last minute Keogh goal they would be above us now...

TamWolf
21-04-2007, 17:31
stokies missed chances galore, the tart hendrie missed a sitter, & got done in injury time, BEAUTY!! keeps us in 6th & bit less pressure to get something from 2mora. would take a draw, but lets hope Jay keeps the run of form going & we leapfrog albion & preston, who are imploding.
:D

Bahama Wolf
21-04-2007, 17:34
Dont forget, Stoke play Colchester next week, and Preston have to play away to Blues so i would say a win tomorrow and we have one foot firmly in the play-offs. The pressure will all be on Blues tomorrow following results today. I think if anyone, i think Preston are likely to lose out to possibly Southampton who with an away game at Norwich and home game to Southend are the team likeliest to sneak one of the places.

London Wolves
21-04-2007, 17:34

A good day indeed!

I'm not so sure that QPR and Leicester being saf will make the games easier for us. They will have no pressure on them in that case and may play better.

On the other hand maybe players will be thinking about their summer holidays . Either way we need to make sure we don't take anything for granted and are on top of our game

I agree as well, we've done extremely well when relying on luck this season. The only time things have gone pear shaped is when we've had to rely on our players having quality and bottle, we lack the first and we sometimes lose the second.

Correct - given Preston can't buy a win at the moment I think we can consider Coventry the most gutless side in the league for rolling over to a 0-4 defeat - the league should look into that !
