Hope he gets back ASAP as looked a promising player. That said no need to rush things and beter to have him fully fit for the start of next season I suppose.

Lewis has massive potential. Reminds me a poor mans Aaron Lennon.

True mate but competition for places is always good IMV and Gobern has the potential to push Kightly.

Lewis is out of contract in June. Is he worth another contract Essex, or would you send him off to the glue factory?

If he can get fit and at only 22 I'd say he is definately worth another contract Boss Hogg. With Ricketts looking likely to head out of Molineux then good young players are a must to keep IMHO.
If his injury is one that won't go away then let the lad go. May seem harsh but football is a business after all.

Seems a very promising player to me with **** hot pace and a nice bit of flair. Played excellent at Blues away IMO.
If he could of stayed fit I'd like to of bet that he could of pushed McIndoe out of the team with Kights moving over to the left.

Earlier in the season, before the loan signings of McIndoe and Kightly, Gobern looked like our best attacking outlet - he always seemed to take on his man, beat him, and get a good cross in. Reminds me of both Pennant and Lennon and I would DEFINITELY give him another contract. The only worry is he's always been injury-prone, which is a shame because he clearly has a natural talent.

I can't believe people are now slagging off a young jkid who has played less than 10 games for us.
Who knows what he can achieve.
every youngster we have, nobs on here describe him as being a poor mans someone.
If you are not going to support the kids go and watch the albion simple as.
Kightly as looked good in some games and $$$$ poor in other games.
That is not to say he is anything other than a quality player.
He has handled the step up in class remarkably well, however as every youngster / inexperienced player they will have dips in there form. It does not mean we have a muppet on our hands just someone who is learning the game.
why not close the academy down after all some people on here will not let them develop.................

I agree with you here. Gobern was terrific for us before he got injured.
Kightly as looked good in some games and $$$$ poor in other games.
This is rubbish though. he has never looked $$$$ poor.

Kev O'Connor's in the same boat as well. I thought he looked useful earlydoors this year.
Definitely worth another contract, could be a really good player. Who would you rather have as backup - Gobern or Ricketts? Its a no-brainer

Glasgow - the overwhelming sentiment on this thread is that Gobern is a good prospect and if fit, well worth a new deal. I think your brand of sanctimonious crap is best placed elsewhere on this occasion.

Ppl have short memories, Gobern was the most exciting player on the pitch before he got injured. In fact he looked like the only source of goals at the time when our misfiring strikers and midfielders couldn't hit a barn door.
He's more than worth a new contract and easily in the same ability level as Davies and Gleeson. Jermaine Pennant isn't fit to wear his boots.

He's definitely worth another contract. Bags of potential and if he comes good then he'll be a crowd pleaser who'll also be worth a few bob.
Bear in mind how Murray is doing now after we showed patience and faith, sticking with him through the tough times. Loyalty is often rewarded.

So no one on here as been slagging him off, read some of the comments that I was repyling to.
You above all people now how protective and supportive I am of all the youngsters who come through the ranks....
one day I want to se a team of 11 all of whom have come through the youth set up.
It gives me great pleasure and pride to see any of our youngsters doing well
Naylor, Lescott, Mahon, more so these players than Keane, Keane joined as a 16 year old, Naylor, Lescott, Mahon etc joined as school boys and are local lads

Glasgow - WTF are you talking about. Up until your post every comment was positive - even the "poor mans..." ones.
Would you say he is currently better than aaron Lennon or Kightly? No.
Would you say that 10 games is a good return for a 22 year old? No.
Idiot.
10 games is too few for anyone to say he his a poor man's anybody. Only the likes of Rooney and Owen prove there class from day one.
Every body here seems to be right (and only on MM could people argue whiling making the same point :D:D) and he must be given a new contract.
In their very early days, I don't remember a great deal of difference between Aaron Lennon, Wayne Routledge and Julian Gray. people develop at different rates at different times.

Stuart Downing is a poor man's Rohan Ricketts. :p
I hope Gobern returns to full fitness soon. Kightly is a great player, but we need competition for places - not to mention cover for injuries and suspensions. Besides which, I don't see why we couldn't play Kightly and Gobern on opposite flanks. Oh, and whatever happened to Daniel Jones?

Another one who is injury prone. Injured his ankle and is just returning to training.
Following your theme could we describe Steve McLaren as a poor man's Glenn Hoddle.
