View Full Version : Dilemmas for Mick
1. The defence - I think the midfield 4 is virtually set in stone, but the back 4 is up to debate. Assuming Karl Henry is fit on Tuesday who does he play? Would be very harsh to drop Edwards. Place on the bench for Henry?
2. Bothroyd - The WM comms mentioned (before he scored) that his introduction upset the balance of Ward/Keogh playing together and we lost some fluidity up front. After scoring a very good winner today should he start against Cov? If so, who does he replace? Today he came on for McIndoe and Ward dropped to left midfield. Doesn't seem ideal to me. But then, I doubt he'll drop Ward. Can Keogh and Bothroyd work together up front, or would they give us a less effective partnership? Is Ward wasted left midfield?
Hard decisions. If it was up to me, I'd start the same team as started today. But with Bothroyd's contribution and the inevitable tiredness that only 1 day's rest provides, I would imagine changes will be made. Be interesting to see what.

I think that is rubbish. Bothroyd played very well when he came on and enabled us to keep the momentum going when there was a risk it could tail off.
Fair enough. I didn't go so can't really comment. Just going on what the WM commentators were saying.

To be fair i'd consider resting ward for bothroyd at coventry. Bothroyd was immense today.

I think Bothroyd might be suited to a super sub role though, coming off the bench in the last half hour to break down tired defenders. Ward and Keogh work very well together, and I wouldn't want to screw around with that.

I'd swap it round....only because these players must be knackered.
Play Bothroyd at start - bring on Ward later.

No need to change it really, only Henry if he's fit. I'd bring him back at right-back. Breen went off with a knock so if he isn't fit Henry should come in and Edwards move across. If Breen's fit then maybe drop Edwards but that is very harsh. Henry provides a bit of pace in the full-back area.
Decisions, decisions..........

Subject to fitness I'd go with the following on Tuesday night :
Murray
Henry Collins Edwards McNamara
Kightly Olofinjana Potter Ward
Keogh Bothroyd
I think these are the sort of dilemma's every manager dreams of.
didnt see this thread before i started the other so ill put my thoughts here.
i know it's probably a little early and we should soak in todays result but it's not long now till wolves travel to the ricoh arena. mm has alluded to the fact that he may need to shuffle things a little, as a few of the team will obviously be mentally and physically drained after today. it would be cheap to lose due to a few suffering fatigue so it wouldnt be a surprise to see henry, bothroyd and davies start on tuesday imo. although i hope mm can start with the strongest spine available (murray edwards, collins, olo, potter)
this team doesnt look to bad imo and gives a couple of our younger players a rest.
murray
henry edwards collins mcnamara
davies potter olofinjana mcindoe
bothroyd ward
subs; craddock kightly clapham budz keogh

That looks about right to me, Mick must be tempted to start with Davies sometime but maybe not just yet.

To me,Bothroyd is our supersub.
If in the starting lineup,I donīt think heīll have such a big impact as he has as a sub.
If Henry is fit, then he goes straight back to RB.
Would also like to see the Edwards/Collins pairing, but cannot see this happening as long as Breeeen plays like he did today.
Somethings gotta give..
Sorry Rob.
Murray
Henry Collins Breeeen McNamara
Kightly Olo Potter McIndoe
Keogh Ward
