Hard fought victory against the 12 men of leeds.
Wolves kept going to the end. Leeds flattered by the 1-0 scorline, but to their credit they defended well.

1st One as clear as day. Kightly skipped past the 2 challenges knocked the ball in front of himself ready to shoot from 10 yards and was clean taken out!!

2nd one was handball, clear as day as well

Absolutely delighted, its so great to come out of Molineux feeling so chuffed. Leeds looked much better than a bottom of the table side to me and gave us a tough game which we battled out a win - the type of performance you see from sides that go up. Considering i thought Leeds played ok it says a lot about how well we did considering we hit the woodwork twice and had a stone wall penalty turned down. The goal was particularly pleasing considering the cheating scum in the Leeds end threw a second ball on the pitch which thankfully the referee didn't see.

Murray- Great to have a keeper in goal who you can trust when Leeds we're launching set pieces in the box at the end. Had little to do in truth but made a good save from a clever Leeds free kick although i'm not sure it was going in.

McNamara- Solid performance, nothing exceptional but looked solid

Henry- Like McNamara looked good and very little got past him. The kind of tackler needed for a fixture like this.

Edwards and Collins- I'm rating them as a pair because what a partnership this is starting to look. I wouldn't be surprised if Breen has played his last game for the club. The clear everything in the air, throw themselves at every tackle. The only time they look suspect is when they are run at but as the team tends to defend as a unit this doesn't happen to often.

McIndoe- Was getting oceans of space on the left wing. He did ok but again i felt his final ball often let him down.

Kightly- A matchwinner, as simple as that. I still cannot believe we got him so cheap and he has had a massive input in our recent form.

Potter- Superb performance, many of us myself included were not convinced when we signed him but hats of to McCarthy if he keeps this up. Ran the show, he passed the ball well, tackled well and kept the ball well. MOTM

Olofinjana- Did quite well although i wasn't impressed when he cleared one of our own efforts off the line. No idea what he was trying to do.

Keogh- Didn't have his best game but still his movement caused Leeds problems.

Ward- Again didn't seem to be going for him but you always felt he looked a threat.

Bothroyd- Too little time, didn't get involved.

Craddock- Seems to be a useful tactic in bringing him off the bench when we are suffering an aerial bombardment at the end of a game.

Best game of the season at Molineux for me typified by the celebrations at the end of the game by all our players. It really was good to see we're all in this together and we truly look like a team that is going somewhere.

Out now to celebrate!!!!

Once again another $$$$e ref, its getting beyond a joke now. Those 2 penalty shouts, kightlys foul n the handball, should have been given and the players booked.
Great performance though by the lads, potter my man of the match although everyone played well.
Kightlys celebration was class aswell.

back from pub slightly the worse for wear, but main points:

-most enjoyable game of the season. hard to belive we were 0-0 at half time given our domination.
- cast iron penalty when Kights was hauled down right in front of us. Still cannot believe it was not given. Thought there was a pretty clear handball as well
- second half seemed to be drifting away
- sure the cheating Leeds scum who threw the ball onto the pitch as Kights was about to score feels good this evening. was waiting for the leeds no12 to blow and disallow the goal.
- George and Potter were immense in midfield, boys up front worked hard, and overall a fantastic victory.
Now for the automatic spot!!!

Another cracking game today and make no mistake we were playing against 12 men, that was the most 1 sided refereering I've seen all season. Two stonewall penalties, bookings for next to nothing etc etc. Anyway.....

Murray, not much to do, think Leeds had two shots on target all game, one weak effort, one may have been going over. Seems unable to quite command his area in the way he once did - 6
Jackie Mc - steady, solid, great run made the goal - 7
Collins - top quality defending and distribution, hard to fault - 9
Edwards - see Collins - 9
Henry - steady, solid got forward a bit more this week - 7
McIndoe - getting better each week, almost back to his early form - 8
Olo - Great performance, good tackling and sliderule passes, almost got on the scoresheet - 9
Potter - Masterminded the show today, I'm not his biggest fan but fair play to him today. Harshly booked - 9 MotM
Kightly - another outstanding performance capped with a great goal, boy does this boy run after lost causes - 9
Ward - worked tirelessly, great movement - 8
Keogh - see Ward - 8

Subs - both Bothroyd and Craddock were effective in what was asked of them - 6

Crowd - brilliant atmosphere today, "The Steve Bull"!

Very good performance to-day.

However, my records (rightly or wrongly) show that Potter received his 5th booking of the season to-day (Oldham (h), Burnley (A), Southampton (A), Norwich (A) Leeds(h)).

Presumably he will now be suspended next week which will enable Mark Davies to start a game.

Excellent battling win today. Leeds looked like they came for a draw and I didn't think we were going to score such was our luck until Kightly belted home.

Collins and Edwards were magnificent as a partnership.

Great performance from Potter. Had it all today. Best bit was a superb late sliding challenge in the first half to stop a Leeds shot at goal. It was 'Ince at his best-esque'. Easy MOTM.

The goal - I was SO glad the ref didn't turn round and see the ball that had come onto the pitch, as he was the sort of picky, whistle happy, anal ref who would have stopped the play straight away.

From the North Bank the Kightly trip looked like a pen to me, though I did think that the Leeds player was on the floor pretty early and Kightly did sort of fall over him.

Crowd was brilliant today. The atmosphere in the first 15 minutes reminded me of the Prem season, and the North Bank started a fair few chants of their own as well. It surely gave the players a huge lift.

You have to say, after a 4th straight win you've got to start believing we can do it this season. Playoffs are a realistic goal. I don't think automatic is though as although there's only a 4 point gap surely all the 5 clubs above us up to 3rd place won't all drop enough points for us to overtake them. Though stranger things have happened.

Mon: Preston v Southampton

three points next saturday and i could be reaching for the tissues....

Albion have to play sunderland, b-lose and us. B-lose have to play us, cardiff, derby, southampton, and preston.
we have to play B-lose, albion and southampton at home, and Sunderland away. basically it is in our own hands.

Today was a hard close game, but had our chances not hit the woodwork the game may have been easier. Def penalty too!

Murray - 7 - poor kicking but handled really well although had few shots to save.

McNamara - 7 - solid game from our want away full back. Showed plenty of effort and drive. Great encouragement to others.

Henry - 6 - not his best game IMO, looked a little jaded and ineffective today but stuck at it as usual.

Edwards - 8 - superb defensive performance , anticipation, tackling, heading etc. Really chuffed for him.

Collins - 8.5 - ditto , superb at the back with some excellent distribution too. What a find.

Kightly - 8 - deserved goal for all his clever probing and attacking play. Should surely have had a pen.

McIndoe - 7 - steady performance but just seems to lack that extra bit of pace to match his obvious wing ability. Stuck in well tho.

Potter - 8.5 - superb performance - dare i say he reminds me of Gerrard in some ways. Great passing ability, spread the ball so well and controlled midfield with his intelligent use of space. Plus a superb saving tackle in our own box.

Olo - 7.5 - a very game performance from our big man, developing great understanding with Potter and they work well with each other. Today was a physical game for him, and he didnt give up.

Ward - 7 - not as good as last week but still very game performance from the young lad. Found it hard against a physical leeds side at times, but he never gave up.

Keogh - 7 - ditto....wasnt the easiest of days for the strikers but he never gave up and when he scores that first Wolves goal he will love it!

Crowd - 8.5 - the whole ground did their best today, reminded me of the old days. Always great to beat dirty leeds with their mouthy fans.

This was the first game I have been able to get to this season and what a pleasure it was to watch.

Last season the football was dire and to see a Wolves team actually play decent football and show a desire to win the game was extremely pleasing to see.

The referee was definitely Uriah Rennie's protege, why else would he have not given the penalty in the first half?

I was not happy when Mick McCarthy was appointed but if this is what he can do for Wolves then I am happy to admit I was wrong.

Sat in the North Bank today. What's all the fuss about very good crowd in there and got behind the team.

Potter was excellent and ran the game.
George backed him up but did look tired towards the end
Collins and Edwards were immense
Keogh and Ward found it difficult going today but worked very hard
Henry struggled getting forward but is settling in at RB
Jackie good game and looked commanding
Kightly superb and what a bargain he his
McIndoe had plenty of space and pull Leeds all over the park very good game
Murray not a lot to do but looked confident in what he had to do

Best game of the season for me with Potter MOM

I take great satisfaction in thinking that the Leeds defence were expecting the ref to stop the game and perhaps gave Kightly more room than they might've. Justice done.

I think the ref was aware of it, but would've waited for our attack to break down before stopping the game.

Was a good performance all round. Looked like it was going to be one of those games where we do everything but score. Thankfully not.

Special mention goes to that monstrous Murray punt that we nearly scored from - we know that his kicking can be a tad suspect but that was good.

Some great last ditch tackles & blocks from the centre backs when required. Good running from both forwards and wingers. Potter & Olo were comfortable in the midfield. I felt that there was a real buzz about the game, both on the pitch and in the stands (the Steve Bull chant got going a few times :)).

Come on the Wolves!!!

Great game today, not going to go into much detail for my first post on a verdict thread.

My thoughts anyhow:
Was the best first half display for years, Or that I can remember.
Potter was fantastic so was Collins.
The Referee totally spoiled the game, can't really remember an terrible tackles yet he showed some yellows. He also missed 2 stone wall penalties. I'm beginning to think all refs have bad games when they come to wolves!
Someone said Murrays kicking was bad today??? I thought his kicking was OK had one bad kick in the second half but that was the only bad kick.
Mcarthy made a very strange substitution again today, wasn't the personnel but the timing, defending a freekick, taking a man out of the wall to bring on Craddock, crazy!

Only 4 point off automatic promotion, Believe people, believe!!

First game I've been to in a while and it was fantastic! Atmosphere was brilliant, although i think the ref did his best to spoil the game!

Murray had little to do but looked solid.
Collins and Edwards were sound, nothing went through them.
McNamara was class today i thought and played really well with McIndoe, they complimented each other well.
Henry worked very hard but looked out of position really.
Kightly won the match for us of course, he's a great talent and he plays with hunger and passion.
Olofinjana and Potter impressed me today, whenever they lost the ball they constantly chased to win it back. The passing was good around the centre and they attacked and defended well together.
McIndoe worked hard, making driving forward runs and taking people on. Linked up well with McNamara!
Ward and Keogh worked hard but struggled. Leeds piled everyone behind the ball when we were in possession making it impossible for our forwards to find space! Ward looked tired in the second half!
Bothroyd didn't have time to do a lot, and neither did Craddock.

A good win today and a fantastic atmosphere.Shame about the $$$$e referee and blind linesmen!

I believe! :D

Seems they are ready for the worst

That is possibly the worst first half performance i have seen,
Wolves were not a good side but they ripped us apart,
Plenty of Leeds support AGAIN going home $$$$ed off,
We have no creative midfield and lack width,
Blake took three corners and couldn`t get it past the first man,
We are hopeless and deserve to go into league 1,
Not sure what Leeds do in training but it ain`t working.
2 balls on the park when they scored but that`s no excuse.

For me it was more of a show of purpose and determination rather than an exhibition of overt skill or mastery. Despite another god damn awful excuse for an official we got the three points we deserved. Difficult to give an overall Man of the Match as it was a major team effort and they were all commendable.

Murray - One great save and not much else to do today. Didn't put a foot wrong.

Henry - Doesn't pose the attacking threat of Little but the GA tally since he moved there shows his experience. Solid and dependable.

Mcnamara - As Henry

Collins/Edwards - Outstanding again.

Mcindoe - Not spectactular but grafted. Aint Giggsy but does ok

Potter - Star Man, ran, tackled and passed well. Seemed likely to score given an opportunity.

Olofinjana - Still a mile too slow and not the footballing brain of Britain but kept possession well and battled hard.

Kightly - Wonderful goal, backed up by Henry but lacked support from Olofinjana.

Ward/Keogh - Both a bit subdued but 10/10 for workrate and endeavor.

can you imagine Wolves taking 3,500 fans to an away game? I cant and respect to their fans for trying to support their team. An obvious penalty in the first 1/2 was the high-light & "Are you Rennie in disguise?" the most original song of the the game.
After that, an imparicial observer would have been hard placed to choose between the team at the bottom against the team on the borders of the play-offs in the next 15 minutes of the 2nd half. Yes we scored, but I doubt if any Wolves fan in the ground didn't groan when 4 mins of extra time was announced.

All in all, a good win, but not convincing.

great game today, and although leeds are bottom i thought they battled and made it tough for us, timewasting and obviously paying the ref. we did dominate the game but at times in the 2nd half leeds were running through us at will until they came up against edwards and collins, those 2 were immense, some of collins passing was brilliant, he has skill to boot as well. definately a pen 1st half when kightly was brought down but i thought he went down a bit theatrically and that swayed the ref although the way he acted i was surprised he didnt book him. the goal from kightly was again class, cutting inside and burying a left footed shot passed mr timewasting fall over pretend im injured foreigner in the leeds goal.
was a bit worried by the substitutions but hey MM knows best, making a sub when the opposition has a dangerous free kick:eek:.
crowd were immense and even barmy army was back, no anti moxey shouts, great chant when the ref finally gave us a free kick, south bank sang "youre still a $$$$ing $$$$$$$".
bit surprised what MM said after the game, "dont talk about the play offs were only 4 points off the top" he is right but he should be slagged off for getting our expectations up;).
ive never known the top 8 to be so close together before, if we can continue the good run and even take a point off albion then who knows:)

Dr Wolfenstein

Have to agree with all the above. There seems to be a concensus. Thought Potter was immense today. And so was the crowd. Last season with Hoddle there was less atmosphere than the Moon. Even the Billy Wright was dancing today...well I was on row BB!

This is the team. Mick has found the right blend & balance, so that even if one player has a slightly off day it can be absorbed within the whole.

The referee & his linesmen were a disgrace. Petty whistling, flagging, constant dodgy off-sides, dubious bookings, insisting on free-kicks & throw-ins being taken from the exact spot-it did seem a concerted effort to make us aware of their presence to the detriment of the football. Must admit I missed the 2nd ball on the pitch when Kightly scored, being rather caught up in the emotions of the moment. The dirty cheating *******. Some things never change. And Wolves will always be some of the good guys.

The Leeds fans seemed pretty philosophical on the train back to New Street( but then the few I listened too on the train into Wolves prematch seemed resigned to defeat & relegation), while still deluding themselves that there wasn't a country mile between our performance & theirs. They defended pretty resiliently, but if we'd had the rub of the green in the 1st half-at least with the penalty-I think they would have folded completely.

Wolfie2
24-02-2007, 22:14
Bear Stand to be corrected but I think the card amnesty cut off is during March and not at the beginning. If my records are correct, Mark Little has 4 yellows (WBA (A), Derby (A), Colchester (A) and WBA (H) in the Cup), so I doubt whether he will be considered as an option for possibly one game with Karl Henry brought back into midfield until the cut off date has passed.

I agree with the praise for Potter,Olofinjana,Edwards,Collins and the team in general. They all ran all the $$$$$$$$ off and played as a team.
A few things I would add
McIndoe put in a couple of great fee kicks in the first half. One lead to a header by Olo that was just over the bar and the other a header by Edwards that hit the bar.
The other thing was that it looked to me that about the 70th minute mark like Mick was going to make a substitution.Kightly was looking a bit jaded but suddenly got a second wind. After making one great run Mick made the sub sit down and soon after Kightly scored! Thats the was it looked to me although others may have seen it differently.Great to see that the players respond to the threat of being substituted by reacting in the right way as Kightly did.
Overall very happy indeed. It was reminescent of watching the youth team in the semi finals of the FA youth cup a couple of years ago. I felt then that the players had given everything and run themselves into the ground.Today was a similar feeling for me.Long may it continue.

The first time I've seen Wolves since the home defeat to Leicester, and boy what a different team we have now! The overall impression I have of this team is that they would run through brick walls for each other and for Mick McCarthy. They play with a determination and grit that I haven't seen from a Wolves team for some time. And not only that in patches they can play some really entertaining and incisive football, with Keogh in particular I think showing the kind of football intelligence that I haven't seen from someone in a Wolves shirt for God knows how long. Not everything worked for him, but he just seemed to be thinking a second or two ahead of everyone else.

Other individual performances worth mentioning were Neill Collins who not only defends like his life depends on it, but plays some good football when in possession. His partnership with Edwards is so good that I just can't see a place for Craddock and Breen now. I cannot for the life of me think how anyone could question Potter and Olofinjana who were both very good and controlled midfield. Potter was definitely the MOM today because of his passing and if nothing else his goal saving tackle in front of the North Bank near the end of the 1st half. And Kightly. Another great player who will without question play in the Premiership sooner rather than later, hopefully with us.

And the atmosphere was fantastic! Special mention to the nutter sad by us in the North Bank who spent the majority of the 2nd half ranting about "You're paid to put the ball in the net" over and over. I thought he was going to explode with apoplexy only to hug me with joy when we scored! Quality entertainment!

So chuffed with the result today. Great atmosphere, and fair play to Leeds for bringing 3,500. Ref was terrible. Should have been out of sight in the 1st half, but again we couldn't seem to grab a decisive 1st half goal, and go on from there. Still, we defended superbly.

Murray - One poor kick aside, fairly untroubled. Decent, if regulation tip over form a pulled back free kick 7

McNamara - Defended well, and offered excellent support to McIndoe. Super run right into the heart of Leeds midfield eventually led to Kightly's goal. I'd like to see him stay, a definate calming influence, and we look more solid with him in the side. 8

Edwards - Another decent game, after a shaky 1st ten mins.Good in the air, and struck a post with a 1st half header 7

Collins - As above, very composed on the ball though, and a pretty decent passer for a centre half. Craddock and Breen have a job to get back in. 7

Henry - Sloppy distribution at times, and struggled to get to grips with Carole in the 1st half, imroved as the game went on though. 6

McIndoe - A better performance from him today. A couple of free kicks were delivered superbly. Still reluctant to take his man down the outside though. 7

Olofinjana - A mixed bag, did well 1st half, disappered for twenty minutes in the second, then broke up play and relieved pressure very wellin the last 15. 7

Potter - I'd agree with McCarthey in that he was the best player on the pitch. Ran the game, made Nicholls look like the classless thug that he is. Passing was excellent, showed for the ball and tackled very well. He has shown glimpses of what he can do, but his best performance to date 9 MOM

Kightly - Our chief tormenter, and our most exciting player since Camara. Should have won a penalty if the ref wasn't a blind fool. Faded slightly second half, but scored a very good goal and got a second wind 8

Keogh & Ward - Both worked their socks off, but didnt really happen today. Keogh was unlucky not to get his 1st goal for us with the keeper making a good save. 6 for both

4 wins in a row! How long since we can say that!

Today Football was the winner!

Wise's tactics were to stifle us and stifle the game. I think their Goalkeeper summed it up for me. Wasting time much more than he should have been allowed to but then athletic and energetic once we had scored. They have the players to do better but not the belief to play football, relegation beckons for them.

If it wasn't a Pen then he must have dived! so why did the Ref not book him for diving? He probably only booked him when reality dawned on him that he had dropped a clanger!

As for us:D .

All the players were on the pitch for the warm-up Breen even though he wasn't in the 16, Rosa even though it doesn't seem even close to getting a game. Now that's called Team Spirit!

The atmosphere during and after the game was brilliant and while I agree Potter was MOM, I really think that we have a TEAM now and a team that We ALL can be proud of.

Wasn't he booked the first time the ball went out of play after the penalty decision? He had just clattered one of their players and was giving the ref some verbal at the time, so I'm not entirely sure what the booking was for.

Must have been class today, good crowd, great atmosphere and a great alround performance. Very interesting to see the player ratings for the game on ITV's Wolves page, not one player under 7, the majority 8 and a few 9's... never seen that before, even the subs scored a 7 apiece!! Keep those efforts up, and who knows, only four points of the top (although some teams have a game or two in hand, and with the GD it may as well be five points)

I reckon Olofinjana was almost as good as Potter today. They both, dare I say it, looked 'complete' midfielders: strong in the tackle, quick feet, good distribution and getting from one end to the other quickly. Noticably less fannying from George too, which was nice to (not) see.

Keogh needs a goal soon, I think. He had a couple of half-chances which he should have made more of today (a McIndoe cross that he didn't get his head to really sticks out).

Henry was my only other worry: looked scared whenever someone ran at him and backed off and backed off. Someone like Carlos Edwards could tear him apart. Not sure what other options Mick has though: Jones at left-back and McNamara at right? Bring back Little? Bit harsh to drop Henry (our captain at the moment) though, especially as he's out of position.

I would just say that I was very impressed with George today. I've been critical of past performances where he's seemed reluctant to impose himself on less physical opponents for fear of being considered a bully. But Leeds' more physical attitude obviously made him feel justified in throwing his weight around. And he, & the team, were all the better for it.

Also, on reflection, its been a long time since we've seen the amount of movement & switching position/sides up front, the working for each other & the chasing of 'lost' causes, both from the strikers & the wingers. Kightly in particular is like lightning & never gives up (so like (...whisper it...)SGB).They didn't really get their just reward today , but it will come. The chess-like thinking 2 moves ahead (ie you know the outcome, so why bother?) instilled by Hoddle stifled this ability to harry the opposition into making mistakes.

I was sad for Notts Forest and for the memory of Clough.

But I will not be sad for Leeds and the bribery of the 70's and for Revie and England.

The Conference will be good level for them...;)

with them possibly going down do you think any of them could benefit our squad?? im asking because we were linked to eddie lewis werent we earlier in the season, i thought he did well today, if we dont go up id make a move for him. mcindoe did well but it has been a big step up for him and sometimes he seems a bit naive, maybe next season he'd be stronger. and although i thought healy was a little $$$$ yesterday he certainly works hard and has a bit about him, saying that he's not getting any younger

They are raucous fans who deserve better, but they love putting peoples noses out of joint so if you live by the sword you die by it too. Yesterday i think they must have felt like they were surrounded by 20000 chanting zulu warriors.

I didnt go today, but I was at Ipswich last tuesday...its good to read several people praising Potter and Olofinjana, they were superb in midweek .....after previously being 2 of the most slated players on this forum. Fair play to MM for persevering with what he considers his best 2 central midfield players.

Leeds tried to spoil the game for long periods and the referee was terrible. Luckily our performance was top draw and the effort was inspiring. Although Leeds made more of a game of it in the second half, we certainly edged the game in all the right areas and deserved the three points.
Only critical point would be Henry backing off and being caught out of position a couple of times. Still a good performance from him generally and his bite in the tackle in midfield was vital towards the end of the game.
Special mention to Potter who i thought became a man yesterday, someone who has lacked the more battling side to his game (we all know he strokes the ball about nicely) produced one of the best all round midfield displays i've seen for a long time.
Collins was awsome today, did all the 'dirty' defending and his challenges at corners and free kicks went a long way towards 3 points.
Atmosphere was first class and it's great to feel some genuine excitement around the place again. At one point in the south bank, there were about 4 songs going off at once and the group of gents in front of me, who never sing were up on their feet in full voice.

It was nice to see MM finally acknowledge the south bank at the end of the game aswell.

I agree it was nice to see MM finally do that. Having been at Sunderland and millwall, and manager of Eire i suppose he has seen vociferous support before.

Wolves away support is superb presently and long may it continue to get better and better. Molineux was great yesterday tho too. Loved it! Best atmosphere since The Prem days.

Potter, done nothing worthy of note Sunday and has had plenty of games now in his more favoured slot. Other than one good goal has failed to impress.

Potter has now played over 20 games for Wolves and I've seen him play in his favoured position about 5 times now. How many does he need to play then?

He still offers little IMV.

So in answer to the question you think 5 games is plenty enough???

It's enough to get a damn good idea of how he is doing.

Bang on the money again........

For me this was one of the best games of the season. The performance, the atmosphere, the result... it had everything.

I found the first half to be exillerating, as Foetal says, I hought we 'mudered' them 0-0 in the first half. In the second, as happens so often when you fail to capitalise on your opportunities, we allowed them back into it and we didn't quite perform to the level of the first half.

The failure to score 4 or 5 in the first half was due to bad luck rather than the old chestnut of lack of cutting edge.

I think Andy Keogh is an exceptionally intelligent forward, his alertness and quickness of thought lead to him making many crucial flick ons and passes which carve through the opposition and put his teamates into very promising positions.

Kightly has become a key performer in a short space of time and to see him milking this when he was subbed was great!

The atmosphere was as good as I can remember for a long time, I'm pleased our stand has at last found its voice.

The enjoyment of watching Wolves has returned for me.

When the players applauded the fans at the end, I felt immense pride in them. For many years I have resented the overpaid wasters who have worn the gold jersey, this group are so different.

Whatever the outcome of this season, we have seen a very different Wolves unfold before our eyes and next season could be very promising indeed with 1 or 2 more wise acquisitions.

Leeds were unbelievably poor. Its not hard to see why they are where they are. Despite this, they are always capable of pulling off a result. Luck always seems to be on their side as it was in spadefuls yesterday.

Still, we have done them 1-0 home and away this season and that is good enough for me.

I liked MMs comment after the game about the failure to award the penalty, referring to his eyesight not being as good as it once was, he said: "Me lamps might be going when I'm reading"!

Fantastic performance again. Could quite easily have won by three or four goals.

Potter, Collins and Kightly were absolutely outstanding yesterday, special praise for Mcnamara as well, who i thought had a very good game.

Cannot fault any of them. 4 points from top, i think i need to pinch myself.

Did anyone else notice what happened during Kightly's celebration?

As he ran towards the dug out, he approached Bothroyd who took an imaginary golf swing at him, causing Kightly to fall to the grass like a dying swan. Then everyone piled on top of him. Hilarious!

The scoreline really did flatter Leeds and reading comments today by Poyet saying he felt Leeds matched Wolves I have to wonder if he was actually watching the same game.

Wolves dominated from the start and if it wasn't for the ref playing as their 12th man Wolves should have had at the very least one penalty.

Murray had little to do other than one god save.

Defence, solid again and not sure Cradock or Breen will get a ecall other than though suspension or injury.

Midfield controlled the game and Potter at last looked a quality player.

Strike force caused Leeds all sorts of problems and how it only ended 1-0 must have been down to the Gods favouring Leeds.

Great atmosphere and nice to see the Molineux busier than usual.

PS, have been reading a few comments by Leeds fans and one described the Wolves as "Wolves were not a good side...."

So winning 5 of the last six games and being 4 points from auto promotion means that does it?

It's all been said already, but I'm going to repeat it. Leeds were thouroughly mullered in that first half, the Lord only knows how we weren't 3 up at half time. Overall a fantastic performance from a fantastic bunch of lads.

Murray - 7. Couple of good saves, and a few good takes. Distribution was good too.
Henry. - 6. His worst game for my money. Not great positionally, too shy going forward and some poor distribution. Backs off to quickly. That said, he was still reasonable, and didn't stop trying. Not a right back.
McNamara - 7. Good driving run into space for the goal, and a very calming influence at the back.
Collins - 8. Superb. Won everything, some good turns to beat a charging forward and carrying the ball reminded me of Dean Richards. Looks like a great buy, and working really well with...
Edwards - 8. Superb. Tries so, so hard, and looks classy with it. Wins a lot in the air for his size, and nearly scored.
Kightly - 8.5. Watching him, I am permanently close to messing my self. From the front. So exciting, pace, workrate, skill. Their left back didn't have a clue what had hit him. Destined for bigger and better things. The fact he was last off the pitch despite being subbed spoke volumes about his passion.
McIndoe - 7. Getting better all the time, some superb delivery. I only wish he'd take his man on down the outside - even if he's tackled it would mix it about a bit.
Olofinjana - 8. Barring a 15 minute patch in the second half, he was great. Some tremendous balls played forward, and got about the pitch a fair old amount too.
Potter - 9. Not just the best player on the park, but one of the most complete midfield performances I have seen live. Intelligent passing, superb ball retention, and some tremendous tackling - particularly at the end of the first half, when he saved a certain goal.
Ward - 7.5. Looked bright, worked hard, good strength and good in the air. Some good movement, and looks like a superb partnership with...
Keogh - 7.5. Some of this lads flicks and touches are awesome. So intelligent, and so unlucky not to score when the timewasting $$$$$$$ in goal pulled off a wonder save.

MM - 8. Got the tactics spot on, and kept daith with the starting XI when other managers would have made changes.

Fans - 9. Tremendous atmosphere - the best of the season. Really got behind the lads, and there was none of the frustration that used to accompany 20 goal-less minutes at the Molineux. I've not celebrated a goal/win like that since God knows when - and the fact that 80% of the crowd were still there AFTER the final whistle to applaud made me proud to be associated with Wolves fans.

Great performance, a great day. This division is so close, and since January we've looked better with every passing game. Could we???

Top class TEAM performance against stubborn, niggly opponents.

What really impressed me if that they were patient and didn't let their head drops despite bossing the first half for no reward and some very poor refereeing.

The improvement each game is palpable and if we steer clear of injuries, suspensions and bad luck, it could yet be a memorable season.

It's a long time since I've seen such a hard working, collectively together Wolves side. We could do with a few more goals though; these 1-0 wins are bad for the nerves!

The performance was great however let's not forget we were only playing Leeds. If we are to acheive promotion this season, be it automatically or by the play-offs, we need to convert more of our chances.

I've got to say how good I thought Olo was on Saturday. Yes, Potter was the best player on the pitch, but some of the vision on his passes (slide rule passes to McIndoe, Kightly and Keogh in the first half) splitting the defence in half were top class. I can see why we paid so much for him now (and yes, I have slated him on here numerous times).

This team doesn't have a solid spine, but solid PARTNERSHIPS running through the team Collins and Edwards, Potter and Olo, Keogh and Ward. The balance is something that we could only dream about nine months ago. (McClown take note)

A slide rule was a calculating instrument that the rich kids parents bought them, along with a British Thornton Technical Drawing Set.

These items were usually carried to School in a Leather Brief Case and the owner, more often than not, wore a Cap.
