Hello everyone,

I am aware that the decision by the Express & Star to remove its message boards has left many enthusiastic users effectively "homeless". The situation is rather like the one which led to MM decamping here.

For those who wish to continue using ExPats, Opinion, Music and other forums, or who would like to re-establish some of the private forums previously hosted by the E&S, can I offer a new "home" at www.wethemidlands.com?

WeTheMidlands is a new venture by myself to connect the people of the Midlands, share news, views and gossip and talk about issues and concerns. WeTheMidlands, as its subtitle suggests, will be written "By the people, for the people". The idea is for people to be able to get their news out to the world without going through the filter of traditional journalism.

Because the sudden disappearance of the E&S boards left me unable to post an invitation there, I'd really appreciate your help in getting the word out on the internet grapevine.

If you feel you have a group, society, organisation or community that could benefit from a presence on WeTheMidlands, please e-mail me at aidan@goldstraw.com

My thanks go to TIM for allowing me to break the rules for once and post an announcement of this sort. In fairness to him, and to clarify matters beyond doubt, let me end by making it plain that the forums on WeTheMidlands form only a small part of my plans for the site and are in no way meant to compete with MM - there is no WWFC forum, for example.

Hope to see some of you soon.

With best wishes,

Aidan

I thought this would get more exposure here! It's stuck for a month for now.

I think it was Abe Lincoln, a slightly more honest politician than Bliar!

I think it was Abe Lincoln, a slightly more honest politician than Bliar! it most certainly was. The phrase was also ressurected by Roosevelt in his 'New Deal' programme.
