View Full Version : Aliadiere on loan?
I remember of the last couple of days seeing a statement from the Mol that there may be one signing from the Prem on loan in the coming week...
Then I saw the following on BBC (originally from the Mail):
Middlesbrough have dropped their interest in Arsenal striker Jeremie Aliadiere. (Daily Mail)
Now, I have obviously put two and two together, and being the eternal optimist have come up with the possibility of Aliadiere coming back for the rest of the season.
Anyone know why this might not happen?

Wages?

Wages were an issue in the summer. So much so that they would have wiped out our transfer budget. However, with SJH throwing a few pence in the bucket you never know. Very unlikely though

Is he really the sort of player we need? I don't recall reading too many glowing reports of him whe he was here on loan last year?

Thing is, hasn't he said he's had enough of loans? This is his last shot at Arsenal and if he can't get in the side consistently, then his career move is to get away from there permanently.

Ronaldo wouldn't have got glowing reports in a Hoddle team.
I thought he was excellent when he was allowed to play as an out and out striker and not a winger.

Loan with a view to a permanent move? Unlikely I suppose, but I can live and hope.

Thats because he was played on the wing. The general consensis was that he was absolutely quality and if played up front would have scored goals at this level for fun. His goal at Hull said a lot about him. There aren't many players around with the ability to score that kind of goal.

So is he the other striker MM is supposed to be interested in?
In my opinion, and as a short term measure it would be OK - like Flemming at centre half because of injuries - but what does it say to Andy Keogh and Stephen Ward? What does it say to Craig Davies who is making great progress? The question is: would it do more harm than good in the medium/long term??

He isn't going anywhere after the Van Persie injury

Starting for Arsenal tonight and they have no recognised striker on the bench. They won't recall Bendtner or Lupoli and Stokes is gone. Not going to happen.
