Looks like Glenn believes Derby's resolve might be tempted.

"We've put in two bids for Idiakez in the last few weeks, but both were rejected," Hoddle explained.

"Derby have told us the player is not for sale, but that could change."

Not much of a story but with the lack of Wolves related stuff recently its better than nowt.

Other stories also indicate GH feels the situation unlikely to change from what it has always been.

I'm not sure about signing him to be honest. He would be a good addition but i feel we would be better to buy someone a littleyounger.

Saying that, with him in our side our chances of promotion would increase greatly IMO.

Agree with you Cooper j. What is annoying is that he seems to be the only midfielder we seem seriously interested in - instead of paying over the top for a 31/32 year old surely we can find one or two more midfield targets both here and abroadand perhaps even actually sign someone. If we land up paying £1.5m for him he is going to have to really put in a couple of brilliant seasons for us to feel it was a worthwhile buy.

2 days before Jacke M signed, no-one had even mentioned him, so I'm not going to start worrying when there are 3 weeks left.

Derby are trailing Seth Johnson. Appreciate he has had injury problems but he is a lot younger than Idiakez and would cost nowt.

Leeds fans don't rate Johnson at all. But as he's on a freebie he might be worth a look. Saying that I'd imagine if Hoddle rated him we'd be in for him.

why should we want to pay Johnson thousands a week to populate our physio room now that George has vacated it?

It would just be nice if just once we took a punt on someone from the lower divisions.

In recent times, I can only really remember us signing Ingarmarson (Sp sorry) and then he wasn't given a chance.

Lest we forget, that a year ago we would have a got a younger Idiakez for next to nothing.

It seems to me goldeneyed, that our scouting isn't up to much which is a worry. Saying that, Hoddle wasn't in charge during that period but I would still like to see younger, cheaper alternatives being scouted.

Apart from his over-inflated wage demands. The reason leeds got rid £35k a week.

AW, he is no longer in a position to demand crazy wages and if he did then don't bother with him but my point was that for free and at his age he could be worth a go?

If Johnson is considering Derby he must have lowered his wage demands.

I read somewhere (Ceefax ?) that Johnson was being asked to accept £5000 a week by Derby. A reduction of £30000 / week.

In any event I don't think that Idiadez is worth buying based on the PNE v Derby game. We have already got better.

In the lunchtime edition of the Express + Star they are suggesting that if we do go back in for Idiakez it will not be with an increased offer. They suggessted that we might 'tweak' the deal. Does this mean we pay more money up front? They also indicated that Idiakez has expressed an interest in talking to us.

I think the deal will depend on whether Derby sign Seth Johnson or not.

Maybe we will throw in a player.

I’d get rid of Joleon seeing as he’s taking the $$$$$ with his refusal to sign a contract.

Echoes of Koumas perhaps? Easy life. If as has been suggested he gets 5k a week that cant be too bad for an easy life.

Johnson and Idiakez are completely different players. However I wouldn't mind both of them. Johnson is only 26 and on a free is probably worth the risk. Definitely has battling qualities we need. But I think Hoddle will go make or break on Idiakez who seems to have become a bit of an obsession for him.

The club really needs to make a decision regarding Idiakez who seems to be the one Hoddle wants.Wolves's dealings in the transfer market seem to be long drawn out affairs (apart fron Macnamara) so they really need to start moving onto the next target in order that it is tied up by deadline date.

What happened to the two six figure bids that were on the table for two premiership players?

Can any poster on this board actually give us an idea of the relative abilities of this midfielder from Derby? Some of us must have seen him more than just once.

I don't think it's so important that we need a Premiership midfielder now. If Hoddle finds someone for a few million who can really do the business at Wolves over the next few years, and at the highest level, great. Otherwise it would be sensible to spend at least a few million (maybe all of the Camera money) on 3 good Championship players to help us get promoted. If this derby man is one of the best centre midfielders in the league we should get him in and pay a bit more if need be. It's daft to play it coy if we really do want him - considering Wolves are rich. We've got millions from Sky and millions from Wigan sitting in the bank, remember. Would spending a few bob more on this midfielder really hurt if he settles into the side and plays out of his skin, solving our midfield worries until next May?
