I was supposed to be arriving in Wolvo on Friday, but BA went on strike
and I'm still in San Francsico. My next hope is to arrive on Saturday.
I'll be driving from Heathrow around noon/1pm. I won't have time to
hang about. Here's what I need to know:

1. Quickest route from Heathrow to Mol?

2. Nearest/quickest parking option?

3. The ticket office said they'll leave my ticket at the "collect
window" (booth?). Near some hotdog stand. Anyone know where that is
exactly?

Help appreciated.

Try this for the route mate, not sure if its the quickest though.

Obviously you need to enter where you are departing from and your destination.Edited by: Bilston_Wolf

With regards to parking the nearest would be the one behind the
quickfit garage on the ring road then its a 2 minute walk to the
Molineux.

I think people normally pick up their tickets from the lottery office by the Stan Cullis statue but i'm not 100% sure.

Cheers, Bilston. That route planner link is brilliant. See, always ask a cop for directions smileys/smiley1.gif

I have lived away from Wolvo for a long time. Where abouts on the
ring-road is the Quickfit garage? I'm going to be in a real hurry. I'll
be coming in on the B'ham rd and at Snow hill ring-road intersection. I
can either; take a left towards Waterloo Road, or right towards the
train station/Wednesfield rd. Which should I take, and where do I go
for the Quickfit? A wrong turn on the ring-road could cost me much time.

Is there always parking available, I could be very late?

Can you get me a no-speed-limit police escort?smileys/smiley2.gif

And lastly, if I am too late, what frequency can I tune into to hear the game?

There are two ticket booths on the North Bank car park. The one just by the club shop (closest to Waterloo Rd) is for matchday tickets. There's also one closer towards the Steve Bull stand where you can pick up uncollected season tickets.

You just need to know your address and have some id. Since you'll coming from the States you should have your passport and to get your address check with your kids smileys/smiley2.gif

I think you should take the left towards the Waterloo road and keep
following the ring road around heading towards the Molineux, eventually
you'll come to a set of traffic lights where if you turn left you'll
turn onto the waterloo road and see the Molineux, DON'T turn left if
you want the quick fit garage, go straight over and you'll come to
another set of traffic lights where you should see the Quickfit garage
infront and to the left of you, go straight over again and as soon as
you get over the junction you'll see the car park on the left.

I'm not sure if there will still be spaces left if you're late though
mate so you might be just aswell turning left onto the waterloo road
and left again just before the Molineux and leaving the car on the road
somewhwere, maybe someone could advise where, i haven't got a clue
because i don't drive into town.

No to the police escort i'm afraid.

Tune into 107.7fm the wolf as soon as you get close enough, until then try 95.6fm for updates.

I'll PM you my number incase you get a mobile phone when you get to
England, if you get lost in Wolverhampton or i can help you any other
way give me a ring.

Good luck.

Too slow! Bilston beat me to it.

There's 107.7FM which is The Wolf or 95.6FM which is BBC WM. Although
you might only get updates on WM, not sure which match they're doing
commentary for.

Hope everything goes well and you make the game. smileys/smiley1.gif

Best place for you to park would be around Bone Mill Lane. You avoid the town centre and would be ideal for you coming from M6 / M54

M54 J2 follow A449 towards Wolverhampton - pass Goodyear, Science Park, McDonalds until you get to 'Five Ways' island (with the Mosque on your right)

Here, turn first left so you drive between Halfords and Floors 2 go, under the railway bridge, and follow the road around (past the waste disposal plant) - you can park on the road.

My Dad and I dont get there till 2.20, and always get a space - and it's steady getting out too.

Gives you another option if you're struggling.

EDIT: It's 10 mins walk from the ground also, and you arrive outside the Stan Cullis stand where the ticket booth is.Edited by: Stan Cutlass

He needs to have a word with himself then! - Saturday is the only day the M6 is clear... I hate the BNR, I travel on it most days.

But from Heathrow, the M40 kicks the M1's catseye covered aR5e

If it was me, as paddington says,

M25 - M40 - M42 West/South - M5 North to J2 Oldbury - A4123 Birmingham New Road to Wolverhampton (at this point you pick up my route to the ground from where I live in Tividale).

- When on the A4123 tune your radio to 107.7 for The Wolf, although you may just be able to pick it up from the M5 but probably not before.

- Watch out for two speed cameras on the A4123 between the M5 J2 island and Burnt Tree Island in Dudley. Both are obvious and painted yellow from behind. There's another past Coseley on the way into Wolverhampton. There's also camera at most of the lights to catch those jumping a red light.

- Right on the Ring Road at Snow Hill towards railway station (avoids the traffic around Waterloo Rd).

- Go past the railway station turning and up to the lights at the Stafford Street junction (where Kwik Fit - note the correct spelling - is) in the right-hand lane.

- Do a U-turn at the lights and move immediately over to the left hand lane and take the first turning on the right almost straight away into the Faulkland Street car parks and hope there's spaces.

- Walk (or run) to the ground, go down behind the Steve Bull stand to the Stan Cullis where the ticket collection points are.

Come off it boys...

If he's after speed, BNR will do nothing but slow him down.

M6/M54 will take him within 2 miles of the ground in the time it takes to get to the Black Country Museum.

As bone roach says, the M40 is a good, fast motorway. I've used it a lot travelling up and down to High Wycombe and always average at least *look away Bilston and Essex smileys/smiley2.gif * 90mph.

Sorted (I cant remember if a little M42 is needed also)

He's coming from the south and won't be near the M6/M54. it would be hell getting there from where he's coming.

In which case Doom, get out the bleedin' fast lane. I'm trying to overtake you smileys/smiley2.gif

To be honest, you will be psuhing it for time. At the speed I said I go, Wycombe (15 miles from Heathrow) to Tividale (7 miles from Wolverhampton) takes me 1 hour 20 minutes with no traffic problems. Add on 35 minutes for the extra distances (particularly getting into Wolverhampton on a Saturday) and then add the time in parking, walking to the ground and collecting tickets.

Also, if you do park in Faulkland Street, remember it's a £3.70 charge.

How exactly?

To get to the M54 would involve either going M1/M6 (a longer and nightmare route from Heathrow), M40/M42 North/M6 (again usually busy) or braving the M5/M6 interchange (better since the M6 Toll but still unpredictable).

I reguarly use the stretch of M6 between 10a, and M5 on a Saturday. I have rarely hada problem, either going south early AM or coming north early afternoon. And if i do, it's down to a traffic bump.

The BNR is nothing but frustrating. If it's not traffic to contend with, it's traffic lights and camerasEdited by: Stan Cutlass

I appreciate y'all taking the time to help. Unfortunately, I am having
to cancel my trip as BA has closed their phone desks in the US and are
only taking enquiries in writing. I am unable to arrange another flight
in time.

Unlucky. However, landing at Heathrow at 13.00 and getting to the Mol in time for kick off would have been impossible.

Landing at 13.00, taxi-ing to the terminal, getting off, collecting baggage, clearing customs, collecting the hire car and leaving the airport would have taken at least an hour. The journey (breaking the speed limit) can be done in about 2 hours.

Better luck next time.
