View Full Version : Is there a pattern?

I am genuinely interested to see if there are any patterns in peoples thoughts on Wolves related matters. Could people answer the poll question honestly?
By 'I wanted Paul Ince as manager' I mean at the time of Hoddles departure.
By 'I want Souness to buy the club' I mean with the information in the public domain as of one 'o' clock today.
I didn't want Paul Ince. I'm pleased with Mick McCarthy. I want SJH to go. I'll take anyone who wants to make money in his place and critisise any decisions they make I think are wrong.
Support doesn't mean unquestioning loyalty you know

I certainly didn't want Ince and to be honest I haven't a clue about whether I want Souness as owner or not

I agree IMAB
I honestly think we're racist against Scots in this country. All the fans want Souness, the players want Souness, yet we've turned him down. It makes you think.

What are you trying to prove exactly?
I wanted Incey appointed as manager of Wolves at the end of last season when it became mathematically impossible for us to make the playoffs. That didn't happen,MM came in and appears to be doing a good job under difficult circumstances.
As for Souness, I do support his takeover bid.I just hope that if SJH has turned down Souey because he has other interested parties,we see some action before the end of the month with new owners being installed.

Nah Ince is wasn't ready for what was required.
SJH and Jez have seen enough in Souness' offer to turn it down. Something wasn't right. Simple as that. Until PROOF comes out otherwise I'm with Jack and Big Jez.

I was going to write exactly the same. Saved me the trouble, PLL. Cheers.

Interesting view point, but with very little in the way of facts, can you tell why you blindly throw yourself behind SJH and the board?
They could have got it right, they could have monumentaly $$$$ed up. As nobody knows, why do you blindly believe they have got it right?

I'm more inclined to believe they have got it wrong as they have a poor track record of making decisions with regard to the club( wanting to keep Hoddle for a start).
If it turns out Souness made a poor offer, I'll congratulate the board on turning him down, and admit they were right to o so.
Of any offer to come in though, I'll be disappointed if the one we go for sn't fronted by someone who knows as much about world football as Souness.
I think we have let an oppurtinity to raise the profile of a mid table ccc team in an unfashionable part of the world.
If the Window bloke came forward with £30m, we'd get a couple of inches on the inside pages, nothing more.
With a higher profile comes better sponsorship and more tv coverage imo

Would you like the one we go for to know anything about running a business, or is the ability to thread a perfectly weighted pass whilst wearing a Liverpool shirt sufficient to successfully develop a modern, medium sized Championship club?

This is the point people are struggling with. Souness would probably make a good DoF; Christ knows what kind of chairman he would make.

John - it was high profile for a day. So high profile it got one paragraph in the London rags. We aren't high profile nationally

I assume, correctly or incorrectly, that the money behind Souness, know how to run a buisness

Didn't want Ince, Want Souness.
Current public knowledge is the bid was £20m. Based on that I don't see how anyone can say they wouldn't want it.

I find it strange that Man Utd fans fought tooth and nail to try and prevent Glazer from buying their debt-free club, and before that to prevent Murdoch, yet a lot of Wolves fan seems to take the opposite view and we will welcome anyone with a little bit of money. I'm not sure what it says about the two groups of fans, or the two clubs.
Glazer isn't doing a bad job so far. I wonder if they win the title, will the fans of that independant Man Utd football team they formed get back down old trafford, or will they continue to spite themselves

Perhaps something to do with the fact Manu had been very sucsessful under their previous owners, also have not seen any news that the GS consortium proposed a Glazier type take over of a privately owned club.

Wouldn't have minded Ince, but thought it was too early for him. (Now very happy with McCarthy). No matter what people are saying/summising/guessing here, there, and everywhere, I don't believe there are enough facts to be able to make a sound judgement on the Souness bid.

Plus, wasn't it rumoured that Glazier borrowed heavily to get the money to buy Man Utd. Fans were worried if it went Pete Tong, they'd have been shafted.

I dont quite understand how, from your poll, that you can identify any meaningful correllations. I didnt want paul ince as manager due to his lack of experience. I dont want Souness as he is just trying to get a club on the cheap with no financial clout once the club is bought. What pattern is there in that..........Stupid thread!

Its still possible - a significant proportion of United's income has to be used to service the debt.....

I was wondering if the same people clamouring for Souness' bid to be accepted without knowing the facts were the same people championing Ince's bid to be Wolves manager.

Well, 8 people do but then its one of 5 options. I am still befuddled as to how this demonstrates a 'pattern'.

Why don't you just come out and say "I think everyone who wants Souness are probably the same Burberry wearing, bandwagon jumping, ignorant, uneducated, teenage, South Bank chavs that also wanted Paul Ince", instead of making your point with a fancy poll.

There you go, Del Wop'. That would be a 'pattern'.

Because the poll results so far suggest that that is not actually the case.
I thought I'd do it after seeing that the E&S are doing a text poll with the question 'do you want Souness to but the club?', and remembering the results of the last Poll they did wondered if there were going to be any interesting results.
It's about opinions - there is obviously no 'right or wrong' answer. If people want Souness at this time, based on the limited information available then who am I to denounce them as Burberry wearing, bandwagon jumping, ignorant, uneducated, teenage, South Bank chavs? I was merely attempting to collect information and see if there was a link.

I don't blindly go anywhere except when me lenses are giving me a bit of gip.
I'm hedging my bets. When it has come to business decisions as opposed to footballing ones they've generally got it right, and have looked to do the best for the club. If there was 20m ready to go with no strings, problems or concerns then i don't see the problem.
This obviously isn't the case.
A decision wanting to keep Hoddle, from non footballing people, hardly amounts to the same thing as a multi million pound business take over. bid

I wouldn't have been upset if Ince was made manager, but I was also happy for MM to be manager. As for the potential of a takeover I want to know who the backer is before making that decision.
Great bit of fence sitting.

Fence sitting is the sensible option, IMO - until we learn a single thing about the deal we can't formulate an informed opinion.

Strange the number of people who want Souness nowhere near the club when what you say is true.
