Having an excellent game tonight--running rings around the Liverpool defence. He'll be out of our price range after tonight's showing.

Don't forget Mr. Souness and his £20m

Another interesting fact from last night's game:
Baptista became the first visiting player to score four times at Anfield since Dennis Westcott in a 5-1 win for Wolves 61 years ago.

Papers saying today that Wenger now wants to keep him at Arsenal after his displays over the last few weeks. Fair play to the lad, he said he wanted to go back to them and stake a claim for a first team place and seems to be taking his chance now it's been given to him.

I don't really understand why he keeps been touted with coming back here. He only came here due to the Hoddle effect, and whilst he looked a classy player, he didn't do a great deal.

Mick did say at the start of the season that they enquired about him but couldn't afford his wages.

I think that was more to do with the players around him and the $$$$ tactics that were being served up by Hoddle.

He is a class player IMO and should have been used correctly. Like many of our players under that $$$$. (not the class bit!)

But like you said, the chance of him coming back are zero, unfortunately.

Some idiots here have doubted Aliadiere's ability. He like many others was criminally wasted under Hoddle's 'system'. He is certainly out of our league now but if things had gone well last year he might have joined us as he was going nowhere and Wenger saw him as fifth choice striker. And he wouldn't have cost a fortune. Timing is everything. After last night he has put himself back on the map and will go to somewhere like Villa or West Ham now if Wenger doesn't want to keep him.

Remind me how much they've just sold their 9th choice striker for?

They cleverly sold Stokes while he was on the crest of a wave of publicity due to his scoring exploits in Scotland. Before going to Scotland he was a 'nothing' and I reckon he will find it very hard to live up to the hype at the age of 18. £2.5m is a ridiculously bloated January window figure for a player barely out of his nappies.

Aliadiere at the time we had him last year was well out of favour and looking at his options. He wouldn't have been cheap but I reckon Arsenal would have sold him at the time for around £1.5m. Peanuts for a striker of his class. While on the subject of Arsenal, we/Hoddle missed out on Bentley too who is now starring for Blackburn and attracting the likes of Man U.
