Hi

That version of the beat from 'Ring of Fire' we play when the teams run out for the second half is quite entertaining, does anyone know what version of the song it is?

The only remix I can find is the Dario G one, but this is more electrical than the drum style one they have at Molineux.

I've got the club mix of the Dario G one, and that's it. Not sure if the original Dario G one is the same.

Sounds much like the one I have got. But the one at Wolves I swear is more of a drum only beat, no bass.

I'd like to put my head on the block and say that I don't like the Dario G remix of ring of fire. Why can't we have something unique rather than jumping on the next band wagon.

Music at football matches is rubbish. Getting some real energetic stuff on before and when we come out would make a whole lot of difference to the crowd in the first 5 minutes of a match and really scare the opposition.

Surely there's a bad taste joke about ball boys and their rings being on fire somewhere here? Throw in a splash of KY jelly and a statement like, "Pass me another ball boy, this one's split" and there you have it.;)

I have no problem with that, it's not my fault you have no musical taste;) - but I fail to see how anyone can say that his version "Ring of Fire " is slow.

I don't know if you have been a fan all your life? If so, Congratulations.

You can't deny that whenever somebody dies there music is played over and over and a lot of people just jump on the band waggon with "Jonny Cash was brilliant" when they know bugger all about him, other than through Joaquin Phoenix.

Not everyone has just jumped on the death bandwagon (deathwagon?). I was late in coming to Johnny Cash, having heard 'Hurt', a cover of one of my favouritest songs (followed by a cover of Mercy Seat, also one of my favouritest...). Besides, the deaths of My Chemical Romance, Oasis, Dario G and any of the identykit NME bands we are suffering at the moment would not even reduce my contempt for them, let alone turn me into a fan.

Anyway, we should play Trogdor by Strong Bad. Burninate the villagers!

Whilst I can't argue that "Ring of Fire" is indeed a classic tune, can I please ask that we don't start / continue singing it.

As a football chant, it is a Liverpool song (I believe it was originally meant as a dig in some way at Man Utd with reference to the Munich air crash - though I am willing to stand corrected). The song has also been taken up by Cardiff City.

Do we really want to be singing Liverpool and Cardiff songs at Wolves games?

Let's make our own songs and chants not copy other teams. There's too much "small club" mentality creeping into the Wolves. Maybe its a generation thing and us old frats (Although I am not that old) still remain proud and the younger folk are happy to copy everyone else.

Keep "Ring of Fire" on the home music system but NOT on the Molineux terraces!

When any band for any reason gets big you always get the geeks proclaiming ownership of the artist and saying how they "prefer the early stuff", get a life...

lon chaney jr

Not sure which particular link you mean... the Strong Bad site? Anyway, here are the lyrics instead...

TROGDOR!
TROGDOR!

Trogdor was a man
I mean, he was a dragon man
Or maybe he was just a dragon

But he was still TROGDOR!
TROGDOR!

Burninating the countryside,
Burninating the peasants
Burninating all the peoples
And their thatched-roof COTTAGES!

THATCHED-ROOF COTTAGES!

(Woah, this has wicked dueling guitar solos!
It's like, Squeedly versus Meedley over here.
Go Squeedly!
Go Squeedly!
SQUEEDLY WINS!)

When all the land is in ruin,
And burnination has forsaken the countryside,
Only one guy will remain.

My money's on TROGDOR!
TROGDOR!

And then Trogdor comes in the NIIIGHT...

Just got the stadium edit - still not convinced it is the version they use at Molineux.

It is still a bit electronic, and the version at Molineux starts with a few drums doing it, and then builds up into a big version, something this stadium edit doesnt do.

The hunt is still on.

It would be good to have a rousing tune like Delilah or Keep right on.

Personally i prefer the 'where the hell are we from' showing my age there ..

Agreed HGW, to suggest that people have only started to like him because he is dead is pretty stupid. Cash was a radical and one of the most respected writer and performer in the music world...from C&W through to many genres including Hip Hop artists.

I'm with Oxford Wolf....can we not be original for a change....or bring the liquidator back.

It's a Liverpool song, we can do better than stealing from them (although I'd appreciate the irony of it).

It's a Liverpool song, we can do better than stealing from them (although I'd appreciate the irony of it).

It would only be truly ironic if they could afford alloy wheels on their cars. We could then charge them a fiver to "watch their car" and steal their wheels whilst they watched the match.

Ring of Fire is this year's Tom Harke isn't it? I think this is the way football crowds are going now, they'd rather der der der to a tune than sing. Very annoying. Got two clowns who sit near me who persist in doing the ring of fire noise every five minutes. Stephen Fry and Bamber Gascoigne would sound dim making noises like that.

Dragonforce?

NOW we're talking...although it'd maybe be over some people's heads (understatement - only guitarists really appreciate the widdly twiddly guitar $$$$ fest :D)

I've always thought something like "Wrathchild" by Iron Maiden would go down a storm at the Wolves - loud, rythmic, chant-like sing-a-long chorus... we really should use music to our advantage at the wolves before a game - it won't take long for people to familiarise themselves with songs. Have your remixed Ring of Fire, but let's have MORE than that - let's have an army of songs that are alien to visiting fans.

Jesus, I'm beginning to sound like the PR behind the "alt lyrics" hi-ho silver lining here....

I agree we could do with an original song, but NOT like albions Boing boing or that lousy hymn. The thing with anthems is that they become all too preditable and tiresome. eg covs/blues/even stoke's delilah.

Originality is harder to replicate due to singers being spread out. "Where the Hell are you from" sounds great in a pub but not really possible on the South bank.
