According to the Wolves page, 579, on ITV Wolves are looking at Spartak Moscow 1st choice GK Wojciech Kowalewski as have some Prem clubs.
No fee mentioned but curious as to why with Murray, Ikeme and Oakes Wolves would want another GK.
Is this just more media rubbish or is Murray going in Jan as has been spoken of elsewhere?

Matt wil go sooner rather to by fair. So maybe they are looking for options.

Seeing as selling the clubs best players and replacing them with cheap buys is the format I think you are right.

Oakes is on his way isn't he?

That would be the obvious keeper movement this Janaury. Oakes will want to be playing and his current battle at Wolves is to get on the bench. I can see him going out on loan and then deperting when his contract ends in June.

if oakes had any sense he would have cleared off at the end of last season. despite him being in the top 3 of keepers in this division imo, he is only ever going to be 2nd choice no matter how cack the 1st team keeper may be.
incidentally, for anyone doubting his class, look at his profile on the site and watch the quality save against reading on boxing day

Made his comeback from a bad shoulder injury this week v Leicester. It is going to be a few years until we see him in the first team. Needs to go out on loan and get some first team experience

I agree whole-heartedly with you whitemouse, I have always rated Oakes. He has been a good servant for Wolves, AND has been a model Wolves player by not griping (in public anyway) when loosing his place, through no fault of his own I might add.

I too am a big fan of Michael Oakes, potentially the most underated player Wolves have had, certainly in the 15 years I have supported Wolves. Not great in the air but a great shot-stopper, unjustly dropped during the Prem season in my view...

Dropping Oakes for Jones was a crime and Dave Jones should be tried for it. Watch the Man U game and he prevented 3 certain goals, he kept us in it v Liverpool a few days later and his reward.........dropped for that $$$$ing useless Cardiff supporting $$$$ Jones.

Oakes is a decent keeper but nowhere near as good as Murray, a deserved first choice imo.
Also, McCarthy favouring Ikeme is a good thing in my opinion. People have said about Jones wrongly replacing an in form Oakes in 2003/04, McCarthy is giving Ikeme a run on the bench cos he deserves it. Fair play.
I feel bad for Oakes though.

Oakes has been on the bench for the last 2 games. It would appear that Ikeme has been approached by other clubs to go out on loan. He was quoted in the E&S the other week saying he refused to go out on loan because he wants to fight Oakes for the 2nd choice keeper role and how that going to Stockport cost him his chance last season when Oakes got injured and Postma took his place. Great attitude from Ikeme.

I agree with you mate. When we were in the prem, D Jones Said if you played well you would keep your place.
Then he signed Jones and the rest is history.
He has being $$$$ on by every manager that as come to Wolves. IMO

Iversen for Cort is the same scenario
Oakes has been unlucky, he played 120+ games in a row and got injured and we got Murray and promoted. He played in the Prem and found form before DJ signed his golf buddy. Last season he was in but got injured and was replaced by Postma, who initally played well but like the rest of the squad died a death around March when Hoddle gave up the $$$$

As you said Oakes keeps on being replaced by someones golf Buddy. But i would put Oakes before Jones or Postma simple as.

Oakes for Jones was a disgracce
Oakes for Murray - Well we got promoted and Murray is our best keeper
Oakes for Postma - Postma was doing ok ahead of Oakes, until the end of March, but then the whole team seemingly gave up. I don't think there was much between Oakes and Postma in terms of ability.

We'll never know what?? There wasn't much difference between Oakes and Postma last season. Whitemouse pointed out Oakes save v Reading.......I would point out (if you could find it) Postma's save v Leeds last season, simpy superb. Oakes is the ultimate professional, he is probably fuming at being 2nd/3rd choice this season but he gets on with it. Doesn't feel the need to moan to the papers. He will get a move in the next 6 months and will do whatever club he joins proud.

I'm not knocking Oakes, I cannot agree with you more about him being Proffessional.
But he as being shat on in the pasted.
So why would he want to stop at Wolves.

He has only been "shat on" with regards to being dropped for Jones. He lost his place through injury to Murray and then to Postma. Thats the life of a keeper, with only 1 spot open if you get injured its hard to get back in unless your replacement is useless or gets injured himself

In our promotion season he lost his place after 120+ games in a row through injury. Murray came in v Wimbledon, think Oakes played the next game but then was injured again and didn't get his place back until the Prem season when Murray was injured.
Last season he was No1 but got injured before the Brighton away game. Postma took his place and we had Murray on the bench, despite the fact he was about 50% fit.

its actually postma that made the save, just liked the way its on oakes' profile as one of his 3 best saves! shows how much thought goes into the website:rolleyes:
I dont want any polish player EVER again in this club. Especially that he is first choice in NT, no thanks, dont ruin his life please.

That makes two of us.
Keep the Poles out of Wolverhampton, apart from the bus drivers and speedway mechanics
Yes I like that, let them kick English out of their jobs :D.
